Abdominal Aortic/Aorto-Iliac Aneurysm Endoluminal Graft Study

Aortic Aneurysm

The Bifurcated PowerLink System is intended to provide a permanent alternative conduit for blood flow within a patient's abdominal vascular system, which excludes the aneurysmal sac from blood flow and pressure.

DynaCT Imaging in EVAR: Comparing Clinical Benefit of DynaCT to Multidetector CT as the Current...

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

The aim of this study is to evaluate a new way to create CT-like images during intra-operative procedures. We want to prove that the quality and information received from DynaCT is satisfactory in implementing stent-graft in abdominal aortic aneurysm.

Extravalvular Procedure for Surgical Treatment of Ascending Aorta Aneurism

Ascending Aorta AneurismAortic Insufficiency

The investigators expect that the using of prothesis with sinuses has more benefits for long term competence and condition of aortic valve than the using of straight prothesis.

Intraoperative Perfusion Patterns of the Sigmoid Colon During Elective Open Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm...

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Blood supply to the sigmoid colon during open abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair is at risk. Ischemia of the sigmoid colon after AAA repair is potentially devastative. No reliable measures to prevent it are available and the underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. The aim of this study is to describe intraoperative perfusion patterns of the sigmoid colon during open AAA repair and their potential impact on postoperative outcome.

Melatonin and Cardiac Outcome After Major Surgery

Aortic Aneurysm

The purpose of this study is to assess whether treatment with melatonin can reduce cell damage and inflammatory stress response and thereby occurrence of myocardial injury after abdominal aortic surgery.

Prevalence and Screening of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms Among Men With Coronary Artery Disease

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

The purpose of this study is to investigate the prevalence of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) among male patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) verified in coronary angiography. Ethiology of AAA is known to be common with atherosclerotic arterial diseases (coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease and carotid artery disease), so the hypothesis is that AAA should be more common among these CAD patients, thus making screening of these patients (for AAA) more cost-efficient. Study will be carried out as a multi-center prospective screening study. Data will be collected in North Karelia Central Hospital, Kuopio University Hospital and Tampere University Hospital. Data consists of 200 consecutive coronary angiography patients in each hospital, resulting in 600 patients in total. All male patients with diagnosed CAD will be recruited for the study and screened for AAA with ultrasound. Nevertheless, patients with previously known AAA will be excluded from the study.

Preventing Myocardial Ischemia by Preconditioning in Elective Operation for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm...

Aortic Aneurysm

Primary To investigate whether peripheral predonditioning induced by brief, intermittent constriction of blood supply to an arm can reduce the incidence of perioperative myocardial ischemia in patients operated electively for infrarenal aortic aneurysm. Secondary To investigate the impact of peripheral preconditioning on perioperative inflammatory response. To investigate whether peripheral preconditoning can protect against perioperative myocardial infarction and reduced cardiac pump function.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Aortic Aneurysm Instability

Aortic Aneurysm

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a progressive enlargement of the aorta, the largest blood vessel in the body. It is at risk of bursting when it is usually fatal. Currently the risk of the AAA bursting is estimated from its diameter. In this study, the investigators hope to develop a new type of aneurysm scan involving Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). It is hoped that this scan will be better at determining which AAAs are at risk of bursting and therefore require an operation to prevent this.

DynaCT in Preoperative Imaging Before Insertion of Stentgraft

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Endovascular therapy of Aortic Aneurysms depends on good imaging facilities. A relatively new kind of x-ray equipment makes it possible to create computer tomography (CT) - like slice images in the operating room. The purpose of this study is to verify the clinical usefulness of DynaCT in a preoperative setting. To do so we compare aortic measurements in DynaCT to the same measurements in ordinary CT-images which are regarded the gold standard.

Comparative Study of a Software With the Gold Standard

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA)

Nurea wants to set-up a pivotal phase clinical study for its software PRAEVAorta, a decision-making support for diagnosis and follow-up of abdominal aorta aneurysm. This study is a comparative study. Its purpose is to demonstrate the adequacy of PRAEVAorta to the current Gold Standard in the care of patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm. The currently benchmark methods are the maximal diameter method (Hand-held measurement of maximum diameter on scan images) and the segmentation method for the aneurysm volume (manual segmentation of scan images, then calculation of the AAA volume by counting the pixels). The hypothesis is that 90% of the segmented patients have a volume ratio and a diameter ration equal to or greater than 90%.
