A Neurocognitive Model of Anorexia Nervosa
Anorexia NervosaThe purpose of this study is to investigate thought processes and neural mechanisms that may contribute to the development of habitual behaviors. The investigators hypothesize that patients with AN will perform differently than people without eating disorders on a series of neuropsychological tasks and will show different neural activation patterns in functional neuroimaging scans.
Severe Anorexia Nervosa Personal Recovery
Anorexia NervosaEating DisorderA growing qualitative literature about personal recovery process in mental disorders emerges. However in Anorexia Nervosa (AN), it remains few understood, especially in severe AN during adolescence. This pilot study seeks to enhance understanding of recovery from AN in France and support the dissemination of the PR paradigm among the French mental health community working with AN, as a complement to the medical approach. A qualitative research according to Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) method was conducted .Five young women hospitalized ten years before for a severe AN during their adolescence were interviewed with a semi-structured face-to-face interview on recovery process.
Microbiome-mediated Weight, Anxiety, and Stress Dysregulation in Anorexia Nervosa
Anorexia NervosaThe purpose of this research study is to analyze the microorganisms residing in the gut of patients with anorexia nervosa. Research has begun to link changes in the intestinal microbiota with diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBS), asthma, and obesity, but although some studies have investigated the intestinal microbiota in overweight/obese individuals, very little is known about the intestinal microbiota in underweight individuals. The investigators aim to identify the enteric bacterial groups associated with adiposity, BMI, anxiety, and stress in patients with anorexia nervosa.
Overgeneralization of Conditioned Fear as a Pathogenic Marker of Anorexia Nervosa
AnorexiaGeneralized AnxietyAnorexia nervosa is a chronic mental health condition characterized by maladaptive food consumption (i.e., hypophagia) and distorted body image. There is substantial evidence of a phenotypic overlap between anorexia nervosa and anxiety disorders, as well as data suggesting the two share a common genetic pathway. Despite these findings, little research has examined fear conditioning among individuals with anorexia nervosa, and no research has examined whether individuals with anorexia nervosa have a propensity to overgeneralize conditioned fear stimuli, one of the more robust fear-conditioning markers of anxiety disorders. The current study assesses generalization of conditioned fear with fear-potentiated startle: the cross-species enhancement of the startle reflex when an organism is in a state of fear. Animal data, as well as an emerging literature in humans, tightly links fear-potentiated startle to the amygdala-based fear circuit. Thus, evidence of overgeneralized fear-potentiated startle in anorexia nervosa would link this eating disorder to hypersensitivity of the fear circuit and could inform the development of novel pharmacologic and psychological treatments for anorexia nervosa based on treatment models used in the anxiety disorders literature.
Motivation to Exercise in People With Anorexia Nervosa
Anorexia NervosaThe purpose of this research study is to determine the importance and level of physical activity in people with Anorexia Nervosa.
Hormone Dynamics and Bone Mineral Density in Anorexia Nervosa v. Hypothalamic Amenorrhea
Anorexia NervosaHypothalamic Amenorrhea1 moreThe purpose of this study is to determine whether the hormone dynamics in women with anorexia nervosa and hypothalamic amenorrhea is related to bone loss in those populations.
Adipokines and Ghrelin Concentrations in Different Stages of Anorexia Nervosa
Anorexia NervosaAdipokinesThe aim of this study is to determine serum concentrations of adiponectin (ApN), leptin and ghrelin in different stages of anorectic patients and to evaluate their relationships between biochemical, hormonal and anthropometric parameters.
Serotonin Transporter Concentrations in Women With a History of Anorexia Nervosa
Eating DisordersAnorexia NervosaThis study will compare the concentrations of serotonin transporter in the brains of women with a history of anorexia nervosa who are currently maintaining a normal weight to those of healthy women of normal weight.
Does Metabolic Syndrome Exist in Anorexia Nervosa?
Anorexia NervosaMetabolic SyndromeThe purpose of this study is to examine whether body fat distribution changes that occur with weight gain in women recovering from anorexia nervosa are transient or persistent, and if they are associated with other features of Metabolic Syndrome.
Characteristics and Clinical Outcomes of Anorexia Nervosa : Siriraj Hospital Experience
Anorexia NervosaThis study is aimed to determine clinical characteristics of patients with anorexia nervosa and outcome of treatment at Sirirraj Hospital.
