NeoplasmsAnxiety8 more

The investigators aim to evaluate a peer-to-peer patient self-management program targeting symptoms of anxiety and depression in a randomized trial. A total of 234 cancer patients recently having completed primary treatment with curative intent in central Region Denmark will be included. The intervention is a lay-led, group-based transdiagnostic patient education program consisting of seven 2 ½ hour weekly sessions focusing on increasing patient self-efficacy in symptom management of anxiety and depression. The intervention is highly structured and manualized.

Acceptability/Feasibility of IU Intervention

Generalized Anxiety DisorderEmotional Disorder

Anxiety disorders are prominent mental health burdens, affecting roughly 1 in 5 adults annually, and a third of individuals over the course of their life. These disorders are also impairing to individuals, with 23% of individuals with anxiety disorders describing their impairment as serious. Given the public health impact, it is crucial that interventions are designed to alleviate symptoms of anxiety, through reducing risk factors that predispose individuals to develop anxiety. One approach to do this is to develop brief interventions that could be administered virtually, which can then be supplemented using ecological momentary intervention (EMI) to reduce risk factors for anxiety disorders. In contrast to targeting more distant risk factors, targeting more direct risk factors, such as intolerance of uncertainty, could be used in the prevention and treatment of anxiety disorders.

Exercise for Anxiety

Anxiety

90 sedentary adults with a primary anxiety disorder and high anxiety sensitivity will be randomized to either 8 weeks of 1) low intensity exercise, or 2) flexible titration to high intensity exercise (HIE). Blinded, validated clinician-rated and patient-rated outcomes will be assessed over treatment and at 1- and 3-month follow-up. To better understand what mechanisms influence decisions to exercise in the real-world, we will use of heart rate (HR) as an objective mechanistic target for exercise intensity, examine changes in valuation of exercise through a neuroeconomics task, examine changes in interoceptive sensitivity with a heartbeat detection task, and integrate of ecological momentary assessment (EMA) to measure effects of immediate changes in mood with exercise on anxiety outcomes and adherence.

Effects of a 2-week Relaxing Music Intervention on Anxiety, Stress, and Gut Symptoms in Aerobic...

Gastrointestinal System--AbnormalitiesAnxiety1 more

The objective of the study is to determine the impacts of a 2-week relaxing music intervention on stress, anxiety, and gut symptoms in individuals who regularly perform structured aerobic exercise. Gut symptoms like bloating, reflux, cramping, nausea, etc. are relatively common during prolonged aerobic exercise. In addition, previous research has established that levels of anxiety and stress are associated with a higher occurrence of these gut symptoms. Relaxing music has reduced anxiety in certain populations, but currently, no studies are available on its effects on anxiety, stress, and gut symptoms in people who regularly do aerobic exercise.
