This study aims at evaluating the effectiveness of a mobile phone based intervention to prevent and manage mental health problems in healthcare workers at the frontline against COVID-19 in Spain. The intervention will consist in psychoeducation, delivered via a mobile App. Participants will be followed up during two weeks. The primary outcome will be symptomatology of depression, anxiety or stress.

Employing imaginary pills could offer a new way of investigating underlying mechanisms of open label placebo (OLP) treatment by eliminating the physical treatment constituent (i.e., the pill itself). This can reveal the power of the purely psychological component of a placebo and gives insights into underlying mechanisms of placebo effects. The aim of the project is to assess possible effects of an imaginary pill in comparison to no treatment, and open label placebo treatment in subjects with test anxiety. Interventions (seven to three weeks before the exam) will be held online using a video Chat application such as zoom (https://zoom.us/) or skype (https://www.skype.com/de/) or will take place at the division of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, University of Basel (Missionsstrasse 62, 4055 Basel).

Music therapy is a non-invasive, safe, and inexpensive intervention that can be easily and successfully delivered. it has been shown that music therapy might reduce the postoperative pain in patients undergoing cesarean section and in those with cancer, showing a lower state of anxiety and greater pain reduction in participants who received music interventions. The aim of the present study is to investigate the role of music and music therapy on anxiety and perception of pain in patients undergoing elective hysterectomy for benign disease.

The proposed research study will assess the impact of a newly developed, breath-controlled app and custom-designed tablet (equipped with a breathing sensor) on the patient and parent's preoperative anxiety and anesthesia induction experience.

Background: Caesarean delivery rates are quite high, especially in primipara, in Turkey. Fear of birth, low childbirth self-efficacy, and psychological factors may be among the primary causes. Since antenatal educations are not universal and there are differences in educational contents, there is not sufficient evidence on this topic in international studies. Purpose: In the study , it was aimed to determine the effect of ice massage applied to SP6 point during labor on labor pain, labor comfort, labor duration, and anxiety. Design: A single blind, randomized controlled experimental trial Setting and Participants: 100 primiparas, 50 in the intervention group and 50 in the control group, with 4-5 cm cervical dilatations were included in the study. Ice massage was applied to the SP6 point of the pregnant women in the intervention group at 4-5 cm, 6-7 cm, and 8-9 cm dilatations during three contractions. Measurement Tools: The Pregnant Information Form, VAS, the Partograph Form, Childbirth Comfort Questionnaire (CCQ), and the State Anxiety Scale were used to collect data.

Despite research identifying effective treatments for youth anxiety, parents (and other primary caregivers) are unaware that some treatments are more effective than others. This study investigates whether having a local parent key opinion leader co-facilitate an educational outreach presentation on effective treatment for youth anxiety will increase parent demand for evidence-based practices (EBPs). It is hypothesized that participants who receive a presentation co-presented by a key opinion leader will be more likely to have sought cognitive behavioral therapy for their child at the three-month follow up, relative to participants who receive a presentation presented by two researchers.

Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers in women and one of the leading causes of death in women worldwide. Pre-cancerous lesions (dysplasias) are detected by the screening smear test at the gynecologist's office and can thus contribute to a 100% chance of cure if they are clarified by a colposcopic examination as part of the dysplasia consultation. To detect cervical dysplasia during colposcopic examination, the effect of diluted acetic acid on the epithelium of the cervix uteri is utilized. Metaplastic epithelium and low-grade dysplasia are visually noticeable by a slight white staining. Biopsies are then taken from these areas for further diagnosis. The colposcopy itself and especially the colposcopic targeted biopsy of the cervix are painful. Virtual reality (VR) is a new method for 360° three-dimensional viewing of image content. A number of studies have shown that the use of VR can have a positive impact on the course of medical interventions. Randomized studies on the effectiveness of VR in a collective of women with colposcopically targeted biopsy of the cervix are not available according to a recent literature search (PubMed search of 12/30/2020; search terms: cervical biopsy, colposcopy, pain relief, pain control, virtual reality). In studies of our research group on colposcopy, we found increased pain scores especially in younger patients, but also in obese patients and smokers. A controlled study on the effectiveness of VR in colposcopically targeted biopsy is therefore useful. In our study, we now want to answer the question under prospective conditions whether the use of VR before the start or before the start and during colposcopy compared to no intervention leads to a significant increase in patient satisfaction and/or a reduction in pain in the context of clarification colposcopy and colposcopically targeted biopsy.
