The Relationship of Disability With Depression, Anxiety and Sleep Quality in Patients With Coccygodynia...
Coccyx InjuriesPain5 morePain of the sacrococcygeal region is called coccygodynia This painful clinical picture, which causes a decrease in the quality of life, also causes disability. Coccycodynia has been associated with hysteria, neurosis, and depression. In some studies, it has been reported that it should be evaluated in somatization in coccygodynia. There are a few studies examining the relationship between coccygodynia and psychiatric disorders. There is no study in the literature examining coccygodynia and sleep. There may be a relationship between pelvic floor muscle spasm in the etiology of coccygodynia and sleep quality. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the relationship between disability severity and anxiety, depression and sleep quality in patients with coccygodynia.
The Impact of Depression and/or Anxiety on PCI Patients
Acute Coronary SyndromeDepression1 moreThe purpose of this study is to evaluate how depression and/or anxiety could effect the prognosis of the patients post-ACS after PCI.
Examining Change Mechanisms in Psychotherapy
Psychological DisorderAnxiety Disorders3 moreThis research project seeks to acquire a deeper understanding of the complex influences of common factors and specific ingredients in psychotherapy. By using frequent process-outcome measures, it will address individualized mechanisms of change in psychotherapy by assessing both between and within patient change processes, using a wide spectrum of change indicators.
Effect of Cartoons on Preoperative Anxiety in Paediatric Patients.
AnxietyPreoperative Anxiety is a major problem in anesthesia management. Paediatric patients are a special group who need special attention. Some studies have shown that cartoons are a very good tool for distraction in the preoperative period for children. Our hypothesis is that children watching Cartoons in the preoperative period will have less anxiety and will be fit with preparation.
Geriatric Psychiatry and Pharmacovigilance
DementiaDepression3 moreThe purpose of this observational multicenter-study is to investigate safety of psychopharmacological treatment and rates of adverse drug reactions in gerontopsychiatric inpatients. Elderly people are at higher risk for developing side effects under pharmacological treatment due to an altered metabolic situation, higher comorbidity rates and often polypharmacy. Furthermore gerontopsychiatric patients can often not articulate their symptoms clearly, for example due to pronounced cognitive impairment. The aim of the study is to gain valid data of possible adverse drug reaction rates, their potential risk factors and outcome, as well as medical prescription practises. To assess these outcomes an intensive pharmacovigilance-monitoring will be conducted at the five participating study sites. At Baseline demographic data, previous and present disorders, use of drugs, previous and present medication, quality of life, cognitive function, physical examination results, laboratory results and ECG will be assessed. Afterwards patients are visited weekly and screened for possible adverse drug reactions. All adverse drug reactions will be coded in the MedDRA-system. In case of a possible serious adverse drug reaction serum levels of all psychotropic substances applicated will be assessed. Drug combinations will be analysed using an established advanced bioinformatic tool (mediQ). Diagnosis, medication intake and possible adverse drug reactions are documented continually. 2 weeks after discharge from the ward, patients will be contacted by phone to assess catamnestic data.
Depression and Anxiety in the Aetiology and Prognosis of Specific Cardiovascular Disease Syndromes:...
DepressionAnxiety2 morePeople report feeling sad and low (depression) or worried (anxiety) appear more likely to subsequently suffer a heart attack, or angina. However it is not known whether depression or anxiety actually causes heart disease. If these mental health problems and heart disease were cause and effect this has important implications for world health. Previous research on this topic has had several limitations. First, most studies have studied heart disease as if it were one thing. There is a need for studies which distinguish different types of heart disease (e.g. different types of heart attack, angina) which may be linked to mental health problems in different ways. Second, it is not clear whether symptoms of heart disease come before the depression or anxiety or the other way round? Much of the available research cannot look at this in detail because they rely on data from occasional snapshots of study populations rather than a continuous record. The investigators propose to use the linkage of the national registry of coronary events to general practice records in the GPRD, which will allow us to address these limitations. The investigators research will help us understand better whether mental health problems cause the onset of different types of coronary disease.
Investigating Attention Patterns in Young People With Anxiety
AnxietyAdolescent BehaviorAdolescents with elevated anxiety have been found to direct their voluntary and involuntary attention more readily toward threatening stimuli, and spend more time dwelling upon that stimuli. Various computerised tasks have been developed to attempt to retrain these "attention biases" back away from threat. This study will test a newly developed intervention, that uses (eye-tracking) methods to track the gaze of the individual. This intervention is called Gaze-Contingent Music Reward Training (GC-MRT), and is designed to re-train the individual away from dwelling upon threatening stimuli (emotional faces), using their favourite music to re-infornce this learning.
Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy of Anxiety in Williams Syndrome
Williams SyndromeAnxietyPatients with Williams-Beuren syndrome are eight times more likely to suffer from anxiety compared to the general population. Few therapeutic solutions are proposed to these patients. The objective of this research is to validate a cognitive and behavioral therapy anxiety protocol for patients with this syndrome.
Comorbid Mental Disease and Heart Disease in Men
Acute Coronary SyndromeDepressive Disorder3 moreMood disorders, anxiety disorders, and trauma-related stress (MD\AD\TRS) are common among men, particularly those suffering from heart disease (HD). MD\AD\TRS are significantly related to exacerbation of HD symptoms that often lead to death. Unfortunately, men are significantly less likely than women to seek and receive appropriate treatment for their mental health issues including MD\AD\TRS. Furthermore, there is little literature about the use of the stepped care model in the Canadian setting. The overarching goal of this interventional program is therefore to prevent, early detect and treat MD\AD\TRS in men living with HD. This Participatory Action Research aims to implement a stepped-care model for MD\AD\TRS in men in New Brunswick, Ontario, and quebec. The second phase of the project proposes a quantitative study that will consist of testing the effectiveness and acceptability (by the men and the involved health professionals) of the stepped-care model. It will offer to post ACS-males a mental health related component presently not available in the typical services of the NB health system. Data will be collected at baseline (0 month) and at four follow-up (each 3-months) sessions to manage the progress of each participant throughout their 12-month journey in the study. Typical sociodemographic data will be collected, along with a questionnaire on Masculinity Norms, Couples Satisfaction (when applicable), and four mental health assessment tools.
Relationship Between Food Insecurity and Child Dental Anxiety
Food InsecurityChild Dental Anxiety1 moreidentifying children with dental anxiety among those who suffered from food insecurity will enable to implement preventive strategies and early intervention. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between food insecurity, maternal psychological status and child dental behavior.
