Effect of Biofeedback Training to Reduce Anxiety

Anxiety

This study is planned to investigate the effectiveness of EMG, RESP, and TEMP Biofeedback Training to reduce symptoms of anxiety among the nursing students from one school, and to determine whether biofeedback training is associated to relax the minds and bodies of the anxious nursing students to cope with the distressing situation. Study subjects meeting the eligibility criteria will be randomized into two groups using randomly generated numbers: the Biofeedback training group and Control group. Biofeedback training will be used as an intervention vs the control. All the study subjects providing the consent to participate will be made to complete the study questionnaires (Demographic, Screening for Anxiety using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory -STAI) at baseline and at post-intervention (after 4 weeks).

Tolerance and Potential Synergistic Effect of the Combination of Intranasal Esketamine and Non-selective...

Depression Anxiety Disorder

There are already recently published data on the tolerability and efficacy of the combination of ketamine and/or esketamine with MAOIs. However, these reports are few and far between, and to our knowledge, there are no data involving intranasal esketamine. Given the numerous interactions between MAOIs and other antidepressants, and the impossibility of combination, this pharmacological class is neglected. This is despite the fact that MAOIs are the only truly tri-aminergic drugs, that they have unparalleled efficacy in certain forms of resistant apathetic depression, and that new, more dietary permissive forms have appeared on the market. The arrival of antidepressants that can be combined with MAOIs, such as ketamine and esketamine, changes the situation and could offer a new treatment opportunity to many patients in a therapeutic impasse. For these opportunities to become a reality, sharing the clinical experience gained by specialized centers is essential.

Anxiety StateSleep Disturbance3 more

The goal of MEM-ASA is to investigate the prevalence of anxiety/depression, sleep disturbances and alcohol use disorder in elderly with cognitive complaints. In memory clinics of Normandy (France), all patients aged over 50 year-old are systematically questioned about anxiety, depression, sleep quality and alcohol use disorder. They also perform a neuropsychological assessment. Questionnaires are given to the patient and his/her caregiver to be filled in at home. Levels of anxiety/depression, sleep quality and alcohol consumption are related to neuropsychological performance, diagnosis and responses to the questionaires.

Modulating Anxious Coping

Anxiety Disorders

This is a study to find out if a device that temporarily alters brain activity (repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation, rTMS) might be used to change how people with anxiety or related concerns cope with feared or anxiety-producing situations. The study is recruiting people who recently started treatment for anxiety or a related concern. The study involves 3 visits to the Medical University of South Carolina. At the first visit, participants do interviews and surveys asking about anxiety and related concerns, and they also do tasks where they see and react to emotional pictures while their brain activation is measured. At the next two visits, participants receive rTMS, which works by rapidly turning a focused magnetic field on and off repeatedly over the head in a way that passes directly through the hair, scalp, and skull and onto the brain and can temporarily increase brain activity under the magnetic field. After rTMS, participants do two tasks where they see and react to emotional situations while wearing sensors on their hand, arms, face, and head. Each visit in this study is expected to last between 2 - 4 hours. This is not a treatment study, but the study is being conducted with the hope that it will help improve treatment in the future.

Evaluation of Association Between Testosterone Levels, Dementia, and Adverse Mental Health Outcomes...

Anxiety DisorderDepression3 more

This study evaluates the association between testosterone levels and risk of dementia and adverse mental health outcomes (e.g. depression and anxiety). It is not known whether low testosterone levels may be associated with an increased risk of dementia. Learning about the association between testosterone levels and risk of dementia may help determine the long-term effects of androgen deprivation therapy and may help improve quality of life.

Virtual Reality Technology on Pain Perception and Anxiety Levels in Adolescents and Young Adults...

AnxietyDental

For a long time, the fear of the dental surgeon has been the main reason why a percentage of the population avoids regular consultation. There are many techniques to manage anxiety (tell-show-do, positive reinforcement, live modeling, etc). Now, virtual reality offers this possibility as a non-drug alternative technique. Few studies have assessed the value of virtual reality in peroperative during an oral surgery procedure. It is interesting to compare the immediate post-operative anxiety level between groups using virtual reality headset (RV) versus standard protocol (hydroxyzine + music with headphones : SMP)
