EDWARDS INTUITY Valve System CADENCE-MIS Study
Aortic Valve DiseaseAortic StenosisThe study purpose is to compare the EDWARDS INTUITY valve system in a minimal invasive surgical approach (MIS) with any commercially available aortic bioprosthesis in standard full sternotomy surgical approach.
REpositionable Percutaneous Replacement of Stenotic Aortic Valve Through Implantation of Lotus™...
Aortic Valve StenosisAortic Valve Calcification1 moreThis is a prospective, single-arm feasibility study designed to assess the acute safety and performance of the Lotus Valve System for transcatheter aortic valve replacement in symptomatic patients with calcified aortic valve stenosis and who are at high risk for surgical intervention.
Safety and Performance Study of the Edwards CENTERA Self-Expanding Transcatheter Heart Valve
Aortic Valve DiseaseThe purpose of this study is to assess the safety and device success of the Edwards CENTERA Transcatheter Heart Valve (THV) System in patients with symptomatic, severe aortic stenosis who are indicated for aortic valve replacement.
Ross for Valve Replacement in Adults - Registry
Aortic Valve DiseaseThis registry follows patients undergoing two methods of aortic heart valve replacement in adults aged 18-60, the Ross procedure or conventional aortic valve replacement using a biologic or mechanical heart valve. The Ross procedure replaces a patient's diseased aortic valve with his/her own pulmonary valve and uses a donor valve in the pulmonary position which receives less stress than the aortic valve. Mechanical valves tend to form blood clots so they need long-term blood thinners that increase risk of bleeding and lower quality of life. Animal tissue valves reduce clotting and bleeding risks but wear out sooner and shorten patient life-span. The REVIVAL Registry will run in parallel with the REVIVAL randomized trial.
Anticoagulation for Aortic Bioprosthesis (ANTIPRO)
Aortic Valve StenosisAortic Valve Disease2 moreThis study evaluates the clinical and hemodynamic outcome in patients after aortic valve replacement. Half of the patients will receive warfarin + aspirin and the other half will receive only aspirin. The investigators will focus mainly on early bioprosthesis degeneration.
Left Atrial Cryoablation Enhanced by Ganglionated Plexi Ablation in the Treatment of Atrial Fibrillation...
Mitral Valve DiseaseCoronary Artery Disease3 moreThe aim of our study was to investigate, whether enhancement of left atrial cryoablation by ablation of the autonomic nervous system of left atrium leads to influencing the outcomes of surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation in patients with structural heart disease undergoing open-heart surgery.
Prevalence of Cutaneous Enterococci at Femoral Insertion Site in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation...
Aortic Valve DiseaseThe general rules of antibiotic prophylaxis in surgery or interventional medicine include the choice of an antibiotic active on the bacteria most frequently encountered in surgical site infections. This antibiotic must cover, the bacteria present on the skin and recognized as responsible for surgical site infections. The aim of this study is to identify bacteria found in skin flora in the inguinal region of patients undergoing Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI). Flora found will allow to evaluate the impact of skin preparation and antibiotic prophylaxis protocols as they are currently practiced.
Identification of Genetic Causes of Bicuspid Aortic Valve Disease
Bicuspid Aortic ValveBAVgenetics is a partnership between Investigators at Boston University, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Massachusetts General Hospital dedicated to discovering the genetic causes of bicuspid aortic valve disease and associated aortic disease.
The Del Nido Versus Cold Blood Cardioplegia in Aortic Valve Replacement
Aortic Valve DiseaseIschemia-reperfusion InjuryA group of 150 patients undergoing aortic valve replacement procedure will be randomized either into del Nido cardioprotection protocol (75 participants) or into the cold blood cardioplegia protocol (75 participants). The intraoperative and perioperative outcomes of using each solution will be presented and compared (see the endpoints).
A Study to Identify Differences in Gene Expression in Patients With Bicuspid and Tricuspid Valve...
Aortic Valve DiseaseFor this study, blood and tissue samples will be collected in order to perform genetic testing to help researchers gather information about this disease and how and why it affects some patients more than others.
