The purpose of the study is to investigate respiratory indicators for clinically important changes in Heart Failure status over time.

To identify the prevalence of sleep apnea in men and its relationship to age, assess the natural history of the disorder, and predict those men at risk.

In this study, submental ultrasound during awake and simultaneous under Drug-induced sleep endoscopy is applied in the diagnostic workup of obstructive sleep apnea patients. The aim is to assess the tongue base thickness during awake and sleep with different head positions. By correlation with Drug-induced sleep endoscopy findings, more parameters could be used for evaluation and management of upper airway collapse in obstructive sleep apnea patients.

The study design of this research project involves orthodontic patients registered at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine who are deemed eligible to undergo orthodontic treatment and who have been provided with sufficient information to make informed consent to join the sleep study. These patients will be provided with the Medibyte sleep monitor and instructed on the proper manner in which it should be set up and worn for the one night study period. This process will be carried out twice throughout the course of the study, once before any orthodontic appliance has been cemented and once after the required amount of tooth movement has been attained with the orthodontic appliance still in place. The de-identified data from the Medibyte monitor will be downloaded using the Braebon software and analyzed.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) can be described as a condition characterized by repetitive obstruction of the upper airway resulting in oxygen desaturation and awakening from sleep, loud snoring, and increased daytime sleepiness . In children with OSA (Obstructive sleep apnea) adenotonsillectomy is regarded as the first choice of treatment. Studies in recent years have shown that the procedure does not always have the expected effect. Children with OSA are at greater risk for complications from the procedure. There is disagreement regarding the need for sleep studies in children prior to surgery in order to verify an OSA diagnosis. Today less than 10% of these children have polysomnography (PSG). The main purpose of this study is to describe the prevalence of OSA among children referred for adenotonsillectomy. The investigators will also examine these children prior to and six months after surgery to assess their sleep pattern and quality of life. The project outcome aims to improve the precision and quality of diagnosis and the short and long term effects of treatment of children with OSA.

The primary study objective is to investigate sensitivity and specificity of a wrist sensor pulse oximeter (the Oxitone Medical Oxitone 1000M device) to screen for obstructive sleep apnoea. This study will involve thirty participants attending a sleep centre suspected of suffering from obstructive sleep apnoea (case finding screening). The secondary objective is to assess patient convenience with the screening procedure.
