Lay title: A study of breathing pauses during sleep in patients on long term opiates. Sleep apnoea is a term which refers to frequent breathing pauses during sleep. Breathing can stop at night due to the upper airway collapsing (Obstructive sleep apnoea)or reduced signals from the brain driving breathing (central sleep apnoea). Clinical observation has noticed that patients on opiates have an increase in sleep apnoea. Hypothesis: This study looks at the relationship of opiates (when used for patients chronic pain) and the occurrence of sleep apnoea. It is expected that there will be an increase in sleep apnoea (particularly of the central variant) particularly in patients on long term opiates.

There is some evidence for a hypercoagulable state in sleep apnea-hipopnea syndrome (SAHS), which could play a role in the increased cardiovascular morbility and mortality. Respiratory alterations (hypoxia, hypoxia- reoxygenation) and sleep fragmentation that these patients suffer during the sleep may induce modifications in clotting-fibrinolisis factors that may be a risk factor for venous thromboembolism (VTE). OBJECTIVES:To calculate and compare the prevalence of sleep apnea-hipopnea syndrome in patients with venous thromboembolism with a gender, aged and BMI matched control group. Assessment of the association between SAHS and other risk factors for VTE. To compare clotting- fibrinolisis patterns, sleep parameters, blood pressure and pulmonary arterial obstruction index in patients with SAHS and VTE and those ones without SAHS.

The aim of the study is to know the adherence to treatment and compliance of patients diagnosed with SAHS and with indication of CPAP from the sleep unit of the Hospital de Sabadell.

The study is designed to investigate normal polysomnographic respiratory values of Chinese healthy children and adolescents. By collecting the polysomnography (PSG) data and parameters of respiratory and sleep architecture，we hope to characterize normal polysomnography values in Chinese children and adolescents and to establish respiratory reference values for pediatric polysomnography which based on Chinese children's data.

Sleep disordered breathing (SDB) is common in cardiovascular patients. Patients after cardiac surgery will be screened for SDB with the ApnoeLink device at the beginning of cardiac Rehabilitation and then after 3 weeks and 3 months.

The purpose of the study is to measure markers of inflammatory and oxidative stress known to be associated with cardiovascular morbidity in snoring children. In addition, to measure markers of local inflammation and to evaluate the response to treatment.

This is a study to investigate the incidence of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea in Patient undergoing open heart Surgery . This will include enrolment of 400 patient undergoing open heart surgery .

The purpose of this study is to learn more about breathing disorders during sleep. The investigators want to learn how breathing sounds made during sleep relate to breathing disorders during sleep.

Sleep disordered breathing, in which patients my breath deeply, shallowly or stop breathing for periods whilst asleep, is common in heart failure and associated with a poor prognosis. This study aims to validate a novel function available on certain pacemakers which is designed to detect this condition.The investigators hypothesize that ApneaScan can accurately detect moderate to severe sleep disordered breathing in patients with heart failure as compared against an Embletta sleep study. The investigators will also follow up our patients for 2 years to determine whether the severity of sleep disordered breathing as assessed by ApneaScan correlates with prognosis.

A prospective observational multi-centre study for the validation of the ApneaScan algorithm (integrated in ICD devices (with or without cardiac resynchronization therapy function) of the "Incepta" series for the screening of sleep disordered breathing in patients with stable symptomatic chronic heart failure, using portable polygraphy monitoring device ("Embletta Gold") as reference for the Apnea-Hypopnea-Index (AHI). Secondary objectives are the detection of severe sleep disordered breathing in patients with clinically indicated in-laboratory polysomnography, as well as correlations of the AHI detected by ApneaScan with other clinical endpoints like mortality, hospitalization, atrial fibrillation and ventricular arrhythmia.
