Assessment of the Effect of Clonidine for Cataract Surgery

Clonidine, an agonist for alfa2 pre-synaptic, has been shown to be an effective adjuvant therapy for acute postoperative pain and has been shown an effect in sedative, intra-ocular and blood pressure and arrhythmias.The objective of this study is evaluating the analgesic effect of clonidine and its repercussion on arterial and intraocular pressure and arrhythmias for cataract surgery.

Reversal of Cardiomyopathy by Suppression of Frequent Premature Ventricular Complexes

Frequent monomorphic premature ventricular complexes (PVCs) may cause a cardiomyopathy (CMP) that is reversible by suppression of the ectopic focus. This study investigates whether PVC suppression therapy can improve cardiac function and clinical condition of patients with idiopathic or ischemic CMP and frequent monomorphic PVCs. For this purpose, patients will be randomized to either one of two treatment strategies: 1) conventional heart failure therapy plus PVC suppression therapy, consisting of RFCA as primary treatment and Amiodarone as secondary treatment in case of unsuccessful RFCA, or 2) conventional heart failure therapy without PVC suppression therapy.

This study aims to investigate the efficacy and safety of oral sotalol alone or combination with other anti-arrhythmic medicines in the treatment of arrhythmias in children. The study will regularly monitor the Holter, electrocardiogram (ECG), Echocardiography (Echo), blood routine, urine routine, serum ion, liver and kidney function, troponin I, hypersensitive troponin T, N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT pro-BNP), etc, before and after receive sotalol therapy. Compare the degree of arrhythmia improvement in patients and the side effects after oral sotalol.

Gait is specifically impaired in Parkinson's disease (PD). External auditory cue based on a binary rhythm tested in PD patients disappear when the stimulus is removed. Golden Ratio (GR)is intrinsic in the human gait, but in PD patients this GR has been found impaired. Aim of the study is the administration of an auditory external cue based on a personalized Golden Ratio-rhythm which could potentially assist people with PD to cope with the difficulties that they experience while walking, thus increasing their mobility and autonomy.

Empagliflozin Versus Placebo on the Rate of Arrhythmic Events in Heart Failure Patients

Empagliflozin treatment in high cardiovascular risk patients has been shown to have a relatively rapid powerful capability in reducing cardiovascular mortality. Among the suggested mechanisms mediating this effect of empagliflozin, anti-arrhythmic effect (AAE) has the highest potential to translate into a rapid clinical beneficial effect on cardiovascular mortality, while other mechanisms are known to have a lag in their clinical effect based on data from previous studies. Based on this assumption, the study driving hypothesis is that the effect of empagliflozin on the rate of cardiovascular death may be mediated by a direct effect on the risk for arrhythmic events (via a direct or an indirect effect on the myocardium). The current study aims at assessing the effect of empagliflozin on arrhythmias in diabetic patients with HF with reduced ejection fraction and relatively high arrhythmic burden. The objective of the current study is to demonstrate the effect of empagliflozin compared to placebo on the rate of ventricular arrhythmic events in type 2 diabetes patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction and high risk arrhythmic profile.
