Arrhythmia in Hemodialysis Patients

ArrythmiaCardiac2 more

Patients receiving dialysis for kidney failure suffer from very high rates of sudden cardiac death due to abnormal heart rhythms and perfusion defects associated with HD treatment. It has previously been recognized that patients suffer heart injury during the dialysis procedure which may be an important factor for investigation. The study uses a simple implantable device that can monitor heart rhythms over time to gather information on the type of abnormal rhythms that occur in dialysis patients. This information will be combined with ultrasound and x-ray scans of the heart that will also be collected. The goal is to understand the relationship between the abnormal rhythms and injury to the heart during dialysis and what causes these injuries. The information gathered in this study will be used to compare the accuracy of an in house personalized computational model to predict potential cardiac injuries when patients undergo HD treatment.

The Collection and Transmission of Electrocardiogram Using a Wearable Device

Arrhythmia

A multi-center clinical trial to explore the status of collection and transmission of electrocardiogram using a wearable device

Skin Sympathetic Nerve Activity and Cardiac Arrhythmia

Sudden DeathVentricular Tachycardia1 more

Sympathetic tone is important in cardiac arrhythmogenesis. The simultaneous recording of sympathetic nerve activity (SNA) and electrocardiogram (ECG) was obtained by invasive method. The purpose of this protocol is to further develop this recording method to turn it into a new non-invasive tool for arrhythmia prediction and detection. This method may also be useful in validating the results of surgical procedures aimed at sympathetic denervation

Early Diagnosis of Atrial Fibrillation in the Wait-Time Prior to Seeing a Cardiologist

Atrial FibrillationAtrial Fibrillation Paroxysmal3 more

A randomized patient-oriented trial to investigate whether continual symptomatic use of the Kardia Mobile monitoring device is a superior strategy for diagnosing Atrial Fibrillation (AF) in comparison to normal ambulatory monitoring with a 24-hour Holter monitor. Patients with referrals to an Electrophysiologist, symptoms of AF but no documentation of AF, and with at least one stroke risk factor based on the CHADS2 scoring system are randomized 1:1 to Kardia Mobile monitoring versus Holter monitoring alone.

NeoplasmsCardiac Arrhythmia

A prospective study in paediatric, adolescent and young adult patients aged 7 to 18 years to evaluate the agreement between QTc measured using 12 lead electrocardiogram (ECG) and the wearable device ECG.

Autoimmune Basis for Postural Tachycardia Syndrome

Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia SyndromePostural Tachycardia Syndrome7 more

The purpose of this study is to see if some people with postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS) have higher levels of immune proteins (autoantibodies) directed against receptors of the autonomic nervous system, and if these autoantibodies make a difference in their POTS symptoms. The investigators also want to see if the levels of these autoantibodies stay the same over time.

Comparison of PFA vs. RFA in Patients With Symptomatic Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation.

ArrhythmiasCardiac1 more

This study is a mulitcentre, randomized, parallel-group evaluation of pulse field ablation(PFA) and radiofrequency ablation(RFA) in patients being treated for symptomatic paroxysmal AF. Pulmonary-vein isolation (PVI) is the primary intention of catheter ablation in both groups.

Investigation of Cardioversion Versus Therapeutic Ablation for Persistent AF (ORBICA-AF)

Persistent Atrial FibrillationCardiac Arrhythmia1 more

The main aim of the research is to investigate whether patients undergoing pulmonary vein isolation with catheter ablation for persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) will have lower rates of AF recurrence than those treated by DC cardioversion without an ablation procedure.

Cardiac Arrhythmias at Extreme Altitude

ArrhythmiasCardiac5 more

Background: Exposure to high altitudes has been associated with an increased risk of cardiac arrhythmias in healthy subjects and an increased risk of sudden cardiac death. Aim: The aim of the present study is to evaluate the risk and the incidence of cardiac arrhythmias at extreme altitude. Methods: This is a prospective cohort study of healthy volunteers determined to climb Mount Everest. Subjects will be evaluated for eligibility by electrocardiography and echocardiography. All study participants will undergo ambulatory rhythm monitoring in their home environment within 12 weeks of the climb. Subsequently, ambulatory rhythm monitoring will be repeated during the ascent from basecamp to the summit of Mount Everest. The primary endpoint will be the composite of supraventricular and ventricular tachyarrhythmias, and bradyarrhythmias.

Smart Textile Sensor System for Health Monitoring

Heart Disease ChronicPulmonary Disease3 more

The present study will investigate a set of biomedical sensors with a wireless data communication system and evaluate the sensors' recording quality. The sensors and wearable wireless system have been approved by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for recording Electrocardiography (ECG), Trans Thoracic Impedance (TTI), Heart Sounds and Acitigraphy. The sensors and wireless system will be used along with conventional sensor systems (as intended to be used).
