Impact on Risk Stratification of Overlap Syndrome Phenotype in Patients With E1784K Mutation in...
Long QT SyndromeBrugada Syndrome3 moreIn patients expressing the SCN5A-E1784K mutation (Glu1784Lys), cardiovascular risk is difficult to define as the stratification of these patients is challenging. From our experience, major cardiovascular events (MCE) tend to occur more frequently in patients expressing overlap syndrome phenotype (Brugada syndrome and Long QT syndrome type 3)than in patients expressing a single phenotype (whether Brugada syndrome or Long QT syndrome type 3). This trials is led on the impact on Risk Stratification of Overlap Syndrome Phenotype in Patients With E1784K Mutation in SCN5A ( RISKOVER )
The Dynamics of Human Atrial Fibrillation
Atrial FibrillationArrhythmias1 moreAtrial fibrillation (AF) is an enormous public health problem in the United States, affecting 2-5 million Americans and causing rapid heart beats, stroke, heart failure or death. In this project, the applicant will develop a novel framework to better understand human AF that builds on agreement between several concepts for the disease. The applicant will develop strategies to identify AF patients who will best respond to each of several therapies, to guide personalized therapy.
Machine Learning in Atrial Fibrillation
Atrial FibrillationArrhythmias1 moreAtrial fibrillation is a serious public health issue that affects over 5 million Americans (Miyazaka, Circulation 2006) in whom it may cause skipped beats, dizziness, stroke and even death. Therapy for AF is currently suboptimal, in part because AF represents several disease states of which few have been delineated or used to successfully guide management. This study seeks to clarify this delineation of AF types using machine learning (ML).
COMParison of Algorithms for Rotational Evaluation in Atrial Fibrillation
Atrial FibrillationAbnormal Heart RhythmsThis is a cohort study to evaluate algorithms for mapping atrial fibrillation by mapping atrial structure and mapping electrical activity to detect focal and rotational activity.
Japanese Catheter Ablation Registry
Catheter AblationCardiac ArrhythmiasJapanese Cather Ablation (J-AB) Registry is a voluntary nationwide registry, performed by Japanese Heart Rhythm Society, collaborated with the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center. The objectives of this registry are to observe and describe developments in the catheter ablation treatment of arrhythmia in Japan and to provide reliable information on the type of activity performed and the facilities available in Japanese arrhythmia units.

Acute Cerebrovascular Events Secondary to Patients Undergoing Catheter Ablation to Arrhythmias
ArrhythmiaIschemic Stroke1 moreWith the steady development of catheter ablation, it has gradually become the main treatment of various arrhythmias. Antithrombotic and anticoagulant therapy after catheter ablation determines the occurrence of perioperative bleeding and ischemic events. However, the incidence, characteristics and short-term prognosis of secondary acute cerebrovascular events in patients with arrhythmia after catheter ablation have not been studied. Methods: This study was intended to retrospectively collect and analyze the case data and auxiliary examination results of patients with arrhythmia who underwent catheter ablation. To evaluate the incidence, clinical features and short-term prognosis of secondary acute ischemic and hemorrhagic cerebrovascular events in patients with arrhythmia after catheter ablation. In order to improve the quality of life of patients, reduce the secondary acute cerebrovascular complications in the hospital in patients with arrhythmia after catheter ablation, to provide evidence for promoting the clinical management of such patients, and to provide help for the maximum degree of prevention and control risk.
Novel ICD Arrhythmia Detection Algorithm
ICDImplantable Defibrillator User1 moreImplantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD) are used to treat life-threatening heart rhythm disturbances (arrhythmias). They have been proven to reduce the risk of sudden cardiac death; however, there are limitations with current ICDs. Firstly, they may deliver inappropriate therapies (therapies delivered in the absence of life-threatening arrhythmias). Secondly, slower life-threatening arrhythmias may be left untreated because current programming recommendations, designed to minimise inappropriate therapies, rely predominantly on heart rates. Therefore, there is considerable potential to make ICDs safer with more sophisticated ICD algorithms. In this research study the investigators will collect data from participants with newly implanted or existing ICDs whilst they are in induced or spontaneously occurring abnormal rhythms. The data will come from sensors placed on the skin that can measure blood flow or electrical properties of the body. In addition, in 20 participants, the investigators will also collect further data from a small loop recorder implanted under the skin. The investigators will use this data to help develop and validate new methods of reliably identifying life-threatening arrhythmias so that future ICDs deliver therapies when only needed. The research is funded by the British Heart Foundation, and will take place at Hammersmith Hospital over 3 years. The investigators aim to recruit 100 patients in total.
Patient Engagement Study to Evaluate the Use of Biological Therapies for Cardiac Arrhythmias
ArrythmiaIn this patient engagement study, patients and partners will attend a presentation, group meeting and responding to the survey to help the research team gage the acceptability of using a biological therapy to prevent cardiac arrhythmia. Patient Partners will also help to clarify which outcomes are important to patients, to ensure the selected outcomes align with patient interests.
