Personal Genomics for Preventive Cardiology
Coronary Artery DiseaseThe purpose of this study is to see if providing information to a person on their inherited (genetic) risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) helps to motivate that person to change their diet, lifestyle or medication regimen to alter their risk.

MR INFORM - MR Perfusion Imaging to Guide Management of Patients With Stable Coronary Artery Disease...
Coronary Artery DiseaseStable Angina1 moreThe purpose of this study is to determine if MR Perfusion Imaging is non-inferior to coronary angiography with measurement of Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) in guiding management of patients with stable chest pain. All patients will undergo an MR Perfusion Imaging test. Further management will be guided by the result of the cardiac MRI in half of the patients (chosen by random). The other half will undergo coronary angiography with measurement of FFR. The result of this test alone will guide their further management. The result of the initial MR Perfusion test will not be available to the treating doctors of this group. All patients will receive optimal medical therapy (OMT) All patients will undergo follow-up to find out if they have any relevant heart related events.

Vitamins in Nitrous Oxide Study
Major SurgeryCoronary Artery DiseaseIn this study, we want to find out if laughing gas (nitrous oxide) leads to a higher rate of cardiac complications after surgery in patients with a specific genetic profile (mutations in the MTHFR gene) and if this risk can be prevented by giving patients vitamin B12 and folate during surgery.

Coronary Artery Disease Management Using Multislice Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging...
Coronary Artery DiseaseThe primary objective of this study is to analyze the clinical value of a therapeutic management strategy based on the results of coronary CT angiography and functional MRI. The clinical value of CT and MRI will be analyzed in patients with suspected coronary artery disease.

Safety and Efficacy of MCG for Diagnosing Coronary Heart Disease
Myocardial IschemiaA magnetocardiograph (MCG) is a medical device capable of recording the magnetic fields that arise from the electrical activity of the heart. It was developed for the general purpose as a noninvasive, non-contact diagnostic tool of obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD), and especially of cardiac ischemia. The overall objective of the present study is to demonstrate the efficacy of this MCG device in the diagnosis of lack of oxygen to an area of the heart (as in an Heart attack) in patients presenting with chest pain.

Iodixanol in Multidetector-Row Computed Tomography-Coronary Angiography (MDCT-CA)
Coronary Artery DiseaseImage quality in coronary artery computed tomography is influenced by the heart rate variation during the examination. The purpose of this clinical trial is to investigate the change in heart rate following injection of a contrast medium called Visipaque™ (iodixanol). Image quality and diagnostic quality of the examination will be evaluated.

Immunoadsorption and Immunoglobulin Substitution for Heart Failure After Myocardial Infarction
Heart FailureCoronary Heart DiseaseThe purpose of this study is to investigate, if immunoadsorption of autoantibodies with subsequent substitution of immunoglobulins is able to improve cardiac function of patients with heart failure after myocardial infarction and presence of cardiac autoantibodies.

Effect of Remote Preconditioning in Patients Undergoing Off-pump Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery...
Ischemic Heart DiseaseIn recent several clinical trials, remote preconditioning showed very powerful myocardial protection. However, the myocardial protective effect by remote preconditioning was not evaluated on the patients undergoing off pump coronary artery bypass graft surgery (OPCAB). The investigators hypothesized that the lower limb remote preconditioning could protect the myocardium during the OPCAB. In this study, the investigators will try to evaluate whether remote preconditioning could induce myocardial protection on the OPCAB patients.

Varenicline Versus Transdermal Nicotine Patch for Smoking Cessation in Patients With Coronary Heart...
Coronary Heart DiseaseThe purpose of this study is to determine if a new drug, varenicline, for smoking cessation is more effective than the standard nicotine replacement therapy aide currently used, "the patch" among smokers hospitalized with coronary heart disease.

Fibrinogen and Bleeding After Cardiac Surgery
ComplicationsBleeding1 moreThe study hypothesis is that prophylactic fibrinogen infusion reduces postoperative bleeding and transfusion requirements after coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) in patients with endogenous fibrinogen levels in the lower normal range. 60 patients will be included in a prospective, randomized double-blind placebo-controlled single center study.
