A Study Comparing Standard Care for Diabetes to Case-Managed Care for Diabetes in Patients With...

Diabetes MellitusType 21 more

The purpose of this study is to compare two ways to treat patients with Type 2 Diabetes, Standard Care or Case-Managed Care. In-Patient Standard Care is guided by the assigned cardiologist and Out-Patient Standard Care by the existing diabetes care givers. Case-Managed care involves a consult with an endocrinologist and counseling from a diabetic educator and a dietician.

Influence of Anesthetics on Clinical Outcome During Cardiac Surgery in Adults

CHD - Coronary Heart Disease

Abstract Cardiac surgery in adults is associated with the occurrence of post-operative complications. Even minor complications can increase the cost of their treatment. Given the potentially preventable nature of a number of these postoperative complications, preventive methods should be used to improve outcomes after cardiac surgery. One of them, is the choice of anaesthetic technique. Objectives: To evaluate the effects of sevoflurane, isoflurane and propofol on blood oxygen transport function and body energy expenditure during cardiac surgery in adults. Materials and methods. A total of 90 patients were included in the study. All patients were divided into 3 groups: 1- (n=30) included patients who were anesthetized with propofol. The second group (n=30) consisted of patients who underwent sevoflurane inhalation anaesthesia. Group 3 (n=30) was treated with isoflurane. All patients underwent coronary artery bypass grafting under cardiopulmonary bypass.

The Effect of Lavender Inhalation on Sleep Quality in Individuals With Coronary Heart Disease

Nursing Caries

The study is planned to be conducted as a two-group randomized controlled trial to determine the effect of lavender inhalation on individuals with coronary heart disease. Research data will be collected at Çukurova University Medical Faculty Balcalı Hospital Cardiology Clinic between January-June 2023. In the study, at least 56 samples were found to be sufficient for the sample size. The data of the study will be collected using the Personal Information Form and the Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index.

Structured Physiotherapy Program in Obese and Non-obese Patients

Coronary Artery DiseaseObesity

A routine physiotherapy program has been shown to be effective in the prevention and treatment of cardiopulmonary diseases. It also significantly increases functional capacity following coronary artery bypass grafting. However, the effect of a structured physiotherapy program in obese and non-obese patients has not been well explored. As such, the objective of this study is to determine the effect of a standardized physiotherapy program on pulmonary function and walking capacity in obese and non-obese patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting. A prospective study was conducted on 50 obese and non-obese individuals who were schedule for coronary artery bypass grafting. Their body mass index was used to separate them into two groups. Both groups followed a structured physiotherapy program from day 1 to day 7 post cardiac surgery. Both groups underwent spirometry and a six-minute walk test at baseline (preoperatively) and after day 4 and day 7 postoperatively. The effect of physiotherapy program on pulmonary function and 6-MWT was assessed using an independent t-test. To estimate the percentage increase or decrease of pulmonary function and distance during 6-MWT for obese and non-obese groups, the percent difference between baseline and posttest data was calculated and compared using an independent t-test. When the normality test failed, the Mann Whitney U test and analysis of variance on rank were used. Chi-square test was used for gender distribution. The results were considered statistically significant if p ≤ 0.05.

Acute Coronary Syndrome and Nurse Counselling

Acute Myocardial InfarctionCoronary Artery Disease

The goal of this clinical trial is to examine in patients with acute coronary syndrome. The main questions it aims to answer are: Does nurse counseling affect quality of life? Does nurse counseling affect functional capacity? Does nurse counseling affect knowledge, attitudes and beliefs about syndromes? Participants will be trained using the training booklet, and nursing counseling will then be provided for six months. If there is a comparison group: Researchers will compare with the control group to see if the nurse counseling has had an effect.

Comparison Between Moderate-high Interval Exercise and Moderate Continuous Exercise in an Advanced...

Coronary Artery DiseaseMyocardial Infarction

The research will study the differences between interval training and continuous training among cardiac patients in a cardiac rehabilitation facility. The main objectives are: Functional capacity measures (VO2 max). Cardiac risk factors Quality of life assessments. Study hypothesis: Interval training will be more effective in improving functional capacity, cardiac risk factors and quality of life, compared to continuous training.

The Anabolic Effect Of Perioperative Nutrition With Insulin In Patients Undergoing CABG

Coronary Artery Disease

This study evaluates whether providing a nutritional intervention in the form of insulin, sugar and protein during and after open-heart surgery will increase the body's protein stores and maintain a normal level of blood sugar. The primary outcome will be Whole body protein balance which will be assessed by isotope tracer kinetics. Protein balance will be calculated as protein synthesis minus protein breakdown with positive values indicating anabolism and negative values catabolism. The preoperative measurements will be performed on the morning before the operation. Postoperative studies will be conducted two hours after surgery in the intensive care unit. Patients will be followed for 12 hours after surgery.
