Several studies exist on patient performance in drive simulators especially around and after surgery. Recommendations concerning the ability to drive preoperatively are based on these studies, which generated their data using drive simulators. However, in all the datasets driving performance remains highly individual. Since a drive simulator is not readily available in normal general practitioner surgeries it would be helpful to have convenient clinical tests to evaluate a patients individual ability to perform an emergency stop. This study aims at evaluating different possibilities how such performance might be predicted. Patients with hip osteoarthritis and patients who have received total hip arthroplasty are tested clinically and their results are compared with the gold standard experiment - a drive simulator.

The emerging Brazilian population is accompanied by the emergence of patients in an age group, including osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most prevalent musculoskeletal diseases, affecting 4% of the Brazilian population. By 2050, 30% of Brazil's population is over 60 years old. This has a higher degree of elderly with morbades as unbass on the association, such as osteoarthritis. Proper management of OA involves educational program, multidisciplinary team care and therapeutic maneuvers with weight loss and maintenance of mobility. Insomnia is the most frequent sleep disorder in the elderly and its execution almost always harms young women. Sleep quality is interfered with fatigue and pain exacerbation in people with OA, ie a sleep approach should be diagnosed in patients with comorbidity. In addition, chronic patients usually have insomnia and pressure in the use of opioids, sedatives and antidepressants, pointing to insomnia and mood swings for polypharmacy. To evaluate a quality of sleep as an intervention of the PARQVE 70+ Project. Prospective, case-control study. Patients over 70 years old treated at a geriatric outpatient clinic with eye or polyarticular osteoarthesis and clinical OA treatment indicator will be allocated and matched in two groups of 30 elderly. Patients underwent Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index questionnaires and the Epworth Scale before the study began, 3 and 6 months after PARQVE interventions and number of analysts, and compared those who did not perform an intervention. The study aims to improve sleep quality, decrease pain, reduce quality and decrease daytime sleepiness in elderly with OA.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical results after implantation of human umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells(hUCB-MSCs) and High tibia osteotomy in patients with medial compartment osteoarthritis(MCOA) as well as varus deformity of the knee joint. This study will prospectively evaluate 10 knees after hUCB-MSCs implantation and High Tibial Osteotomy(HTO) in the medial compartment osteoarthritis and varus deformity of the knee joint. Clinical outcomes will be evaluated using the International Knee Documentation committee(IKDC), Visual analogue scale(VAS), Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index(WOMAC), and patients satisfaction with the surgery.

Comparison of Gait Pattern Between Simultaneous and Staged Knee Arthroplasties

Total knee arthroplasty is a well-known treatment of the end-stage osteoarthritis of the knee. In the case of bilateral end-stage knee osteoarthritis, both of the knees need total knee arthroplasty. Bilateral total knee arthroplasty could be performed simultaneously or staged according to the preference of the patients. Simultaneous total knee arthroplasty is defined as the replacement of both knees in a single surgery. The major advantage of simultaneous total knee arthroplasty this surgery is that it requires only one hospital stay and a rehabilitation period to recover both knees, but higher blood transfusion rates and thromboembolism risk are still major concerns. Therefore, in this comparative study, smart-phone based gait analysis and patient-reported functional outcomes are evaluated in patients undergoing simultaneous and staged total knee arthroplasty, at 3, 6, and 12 months postoperatively

Periprosthetic Bone Remodeling Around Uncemented Components in Total Hip Arthroplasty

This is a randomized clinical trial comparing two different uncemented femoral stems and two different uncemented sockets using Dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry, Radiostereometry and clinical evaluation. Hypothesis: A short uncemented stem gives less periprosthetic bone resorption in the proximal femur than a conventional uncemented stem. An uncemented acetabular component with a backside of three-dimensional Titanium porous construct gives less periprosthetic bone resorption than a backside covered with a conventional porous coating with Titanium-beads and a hydroxy-apatite layer.
