People with poor literacy may have worse health and less knowledge about how to manage their disease than patients at high reading levels. Patients with arthritis usually receive information on how to manage their disease that is written at an 11th grade reading level. The purpose of this study is to compare the health outcomes of patients with arthritis given either standard 11th grade level materials or interactive, in-person arthritis education along with materials written at a lower reading level.

Objectives To investigate the effect of achieving minimal disease activity (MDA) using a protocolized treatment strategy on the progression of subclinical atherosclerosis and arterial stiffness in psoriatic arthritis (PsA) patients. Hypothesis Effective suppression of inflammation in patients who can achieve MDA will have less progression of subclinical atherosclerosis and arterial stiffness then patients who cannot achieve MDA by means of a standardized treatment algorithm aiming at MDA. Design and subjects One hundred consecutive PsA patients will participate in this 2-year prospective, hospital-based, cohort study. Interventions All participants will receive 2-year tight-control treatment. Treatment will be adjusted according to a standardized protocol based on the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) recommendation and the Hong Kong guideline on the use of biologics every 4-monthly aiming at MDA. Study instruments Carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) will be measured using high-resolution ultrasound. Arterial stiffness is measured using pulse wave velocity (PWV) by a dedicated tonometry system and augmentation index (AIx) by the SphygmoCor device. Main outcome measures and analysis The main outcome measure is the change in IMT over a period of 2 years comparing between patients who achieve MDA at 12 months (MDA group) to those who cannot achieve MDA (non-MDA group). Secondary outcomes include differences in the changes in AIx and PWV over 2 years between the 2 groups. Comparisons of the changes in IMT, AIx and PWV over 2 years between the MDA and non-MDA groups will be performed.

Rationale: Shared decision-making models between clinicians and patients are critical to improving healthcare delivery and adherence to medication. One type of model, decision framing, is rarely studied in medicine. Decision framing is the way that a choice is worded. In a clinical context, patient choices can be worded positively, or "gain-framed", to explain the benefits of a therapy or negatively, or "loss-framed", to explain the risks of not taking a therapy. Previous literature suggests that decision-framing can significantly influence patients' decision-making regarding their healthcare. However, a critical gap exists in understanding how decision framing affects psoriasis patients' preferences for therapies. Objective: Determine whether loss-framed messages lead to greater therapy acceptance as compared to gain-framed messages among adults with psoriasis. Study population: 90 adults with psoriasis will be enrolled from USC ambulatory clinics and the general public. Intervention: Subjects will be exposed to gain-framed or loss-framed messages regarding psoriasis therapies. Specifically, gain-framed messages will explain the expected benefits of taking the psoriasis therapy and loss-framed messages will explain the potential risks of not taking the psoriasis therapy. This study compare the genomics profiles in synovial biopsies obtained prior to, and 24 weeks after a biologic disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs)(Adalimumab, Ustekinumab, Guselkumab) in patients with active psoriatic arthritis despite a treatment with a conventional synthetic DMARDs (such as methotrexate).

Identification of possible markers associated with the onset and / or progression of psoriatic arthritis through comparison in patients with psoriasis alone (Ps) and patients with psoriasis with joint involvement (PsA), plasma levels of a panel of cytokines referable to the Th17 pathway , together with serum levels of MMPs, TIMPs and markers of bone remodeling. The primary objective of this study is to verify whether the arthropathy component has an effect on the metabolic activity of osteoblasts. This will be determined through the study of the differences in serum concentrations, between Ps and PsA subjects, of "CTx", the parameter best characterized in terms of analytical variability and intra- and inter-individual variability, in the field of bone metabolism. The secondary objective is the verification of the differences in serum concentrations of the series of parameters specified above, in order to define a complete pattern of variations that can identify the molecular pathways involved in the definition of psoriatic arthropathy.

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is an inflammatory arthritis associated with psoriasis. Although the underlying cause of PSA is unclear, increased body weight is known to increase the disease symptoms. This study aims to determine the effects of dietary and Cognitive Exercise Therapy Approach (BETY-Bilişsel Egzersiz Terapi Yöntemi) interventions on symptoms. Accordingly, 45 overweight/obese subjects with PSA aged 20-65 years will divide into "diet", "diet+bety", and "control" groups. Dietary, laboratory and anthropometric records, Short Form Health Survey, DAPSA (Disease Activity in Psoriatic Arthritis), HAQ (Health Assesment Questionnaire) of all subjects will compare at the baseline and at the end of the study.

Body composition analysis and especially body fat distribution in regions of interest (android and in particular intra-abdominal region) provides some information on the risk of cardiovascular disease. There is little data available on the body composition analysis in psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis (diseases with higher risk of cardiovascular disease), in particular data on fat distribution in regions of interest regarding the risk of cardiovascular disease. Adipokines, secreted by the adipose tissue, have pro or anti-inflammatory and metabolic properties that are interesting to explore in pathologies with a higher risk of cardiovascular disease like psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis. Adipokines have been investigated in psoriasis but fat tissue and in particular its distribution (android/visceral or intra-abdominal) has not been studied in parallel. Moreover, relation between adipokines and psoriasis area or severity has been studied but the relation between adipokines and cardiovascular risk factors has not yet been investigated. The aim of this study is to investigate relations between the body fat distribution, adipokines rates and the risk of cardiovascular disease of these patients.
