Evaluation of the Role of Inflammatory and Structural Ultrasound Abnormalities by Explaining the...

Psoriatic Arthritis

The perspective of the patient is defined by the patient reported outcomes (PROs). This is a main part of the care in psoriatic arthritis. However , PROs can be influenced by environmental parameters. Ultrasound represents an objective instrument in the context of psoriatic rheumatism (RhPso) care because it measures inflammatory activity and structural damage at joint and periarticular level. it is the first study to evaluate the role of inflammatory and structural ultrasound abnormalities as a cause of modification of the patient's perspective measured by PROs in patients with RhPso.

Psychological Impact of Quarantine in Rheumatoid Arthritis Patient During COVID-19 Outbreak

Sars-CoV2Rheumatic Diseases2 more

Clinical data about psychological impact of quarantine are well studied in transient event or more prolonged situation like jail incarceration. Even after the end of quarantine several patients were still with symptom of avoiding mainly agoraphobia, frequent hand washing and a carefull return to normal life COVID-19 infection is already associated with psychological symptom like anxiety, depression, sleep disorders and symptoms of acute stress However psychological impact of quarantine is on none in chronic painful inflammatory rheumatism in France. The prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis is 0.5% of the population with frequent comorbidity such as anxiety and depression. During the quarantine secondary to COVID-19 pandemic it's possible to evaluated the psychological impact of adult RA patients. The present study is an "emergency" being realize before the end of the quarantine.

Antimalarial and Covid 19 in Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid Arthritis

The antimalarial agent hydroxychloroquine(HCQ) have been used widely used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. These compounds lead to improvement of clinical and laboratory parameters, but their slow onset of action differ them from glucocorticoids and nonsteroidal antiinflammatory agents. Among rheumatic diseases, the primary role of HCQ is in the management of articular and skin manifestations of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and the treatment of mild to moderately active rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Impact of Clinical Pharmacy Services Provided for Patients With Active Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Enrolment of clinical pharmacy services in RA patients as a part of health care system has been investigated at many studies but not investigated in active RA patients before. This study aimed to detect drug therapy-related problems (DTRPs) in active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients and Investigate the impact of clinical pharmacist interventions on the patient clinical outcome and quality of life (QoL). Methods:Prospective, randomized controlled study to be carried out at rheumatology outpatient clinic, Ain Shams University Hospitals on 50 patients with active RA for 6 months.determine if any drug therapy problems are present.Develop a plan of care that includes interventions to resolve drug therapy problems, achieve goals of therapy, and prevent drug therapy problems. questionnaires was used to measure functional status in RA patients using health assessment questionnaire (HAQ) and assess self-reported quality of life in patients with (RA) using rheumatoid arthritis quality of life questionnaire (RAQOL) and measure adherence using the 4-item Morisky Green Levine Medication Adherence Scale and Disease Activity Score-28 was used as an objective method to assess RA disease activity.

The Risk of Venous Thromboembolism in Systemic Inflammatory Disorders: a United Kingdom (UK) Matched...

Venous ThrombosesVenous Thromboembolism7 more

Blood clots occurring in the legs and in the lungs are relatively common; they occur in around 3 in a 1000 people per year. They can cause disability and are also potentially life threatening. When a clot occurs in the legs it is called a deep vein thrombosis or DVT. When they occur in the lungs they are called a pulmonary embolism or PE. The risk for DVT and PE is higher in people with conditions which cause inflammation. The most common of these are inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease), rheumatoid arthritis, and psoriatic arthritis (a condition comprised of psoriasis and joint inflammation). What is not known is how much higher the risk of DVT and PE is in these groups compared with people without inflammatory disease, and what causes the excess risk in these people. This study aims to assess the measure the exact increase in risk for DVT and PE in people with these inflammatory conditions and to identify which risk factors are most strongly associated with the increased risk. These data should help with an understand the causes of blood clot risk in these inflammatory conditions and in identify targets for reducing risk.
