Randomised Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Parallel Group Study in Patients With Active Rheumatoid...

Rheumatoid Arthritis

This is a sub-study of the OSKIRA-4 study, (D4300C0004, NCT01264770) to explore alternative and more sensitive modalities for measuring the beneficial effects of syk inhibition with fostamatinib in patients with active RA. This MRI sub-study was reported later than the main study due to recruitment delays at specialist imaging sites and so is registered and presented entirely separately to the main study results. This study will investigate the impact of treatment on joint activity and damage by assessing synovitis, osteitis, bone erosions and joint space narrowing.

Study to Investigate the Safety and Efficacy of Tregalizumab in Subjects (MTX-IR) With Active Rheumatoid...

Rheumatoid Arthritis

The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy and safety of three different Tregalizumab doses in combination with Methotrexate (MTX) in subjects who have active rheumatoid arthritis and an inadequate response to MTX alone. The overall study duration is 24 weeks followed by a 24 week extension phase.

Ultrasound and Withdrawal of Biological DMARDs in Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid Arthritis

biological DMARDs may be stopped in Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) patients treated with a combination of synthetic DMARD plus bDMARDs which are in persistent clinical remission. The research question of this study is, whether musculoskeletal sonography is a useful biomarker predicting a disease flare after cessation of bDMARD therapy.

Safety and Efficacy of MK-8457 and Methotrexate (MTX) in Participants With Active Rheumatoid Arthritis...

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)

The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and efficacy of MK-8457 + Methotrexate (MTX) in participants with active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) despite MTX therapy. The primary hypothesis is that at least 1 dose of MK-8457 + MTX will be superior to placebo + MTX as measured by the percentage of participants who achieve American College of Rheumatology 20 (ACR 20) response after 12 weeks of treatment.

Massage Therapy in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

While there has been progress in juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) management, there is no cure. Despite receiving standard of care, many children live with pain. Thus, it is not surprising that families turn to complementary and alternative medicines (CAM) therapies, including massage therapy (MT). Little is known about the efficacy of MT in JIA. In this project, a massage therapist will teach parents how to provide a massage to their child with JIA at bedtime, at home. The feasibility of establishing a home MT program for children with JIA will be evaluated. In addition, the effects of MT on JIA will be examined. This proposal is relevant to JIA families, who ask questions on MT to professionals of the JIA clinic. Beyond providing education to JIA families, this project demonstrates the team approach to JIA management. Team members will include a pediatric rheumatology nurse and a massage therapist.

A Study of RoActemra/Actemra (Tocilizumab) in Combination With Methotrexate in Patients With Severe...

Rheumatoid Arthritis

This randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study will compare the safety and efficacy of tapering methotrexate (MTX) versus maintaining MTX dosage in patients with severe active rheumatoid arthritis and an inadequate response to disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) initiated on treatment with tocilizumab. Participants will receive tocilizumab 8 mg/kg intravenously every 4 weeks and MTX orally weekly throughout the study. At Week 24, participants achieving a good/moderate EULAR response will be randomized receiving the MTX Tapering arm or MTX Maintenance arm. Up to Week 56 participants will receive either tapering or stable dose MTX in combination with tocilizumab. From Week 56 to Week 72 participants will receive tocilizumab monotherapy.
