Efficacy of Clinical Decision Support and Sleep Navigation (Sleep PASS)
Sleep-Disordered BreathingObstructive Sleep Apnea1 moreThe purpose of the study is to examine the feasibility, acceptability, and initial outcomes of clinical decision support (CDS) and a Sleep Navigation program to enhance primary to specialty care management of pediatric sleep-disordered breathing (SDB).
Evaluation of Medical Device for Airway Patency During Sedation (SW01-2022)
Airway ObstructionSedation Complication6 moreThe goal of this four-part preclinical [I-II] and clinical [III-IV] trial is to compare, with randomised crossover study design [I-IV], a new medical airway device with standard procedure (biteblock or no device) for upper airway patency during sedation with intravenous propofol [I-IV]. - Page 1 of 9 [DRAFT] - The two main questions it aims to answer are if this new airway device is superior to standard procedure with respect to maintenance of spontaneous ventilation [I] and upper airway volumes [II] at moderate and deep steady-state levels of sedation in healthy volunteer study participants, and fewer and less lasting bedside signs of respiratory depression [III-IV], and less adjuvant use of manual airway support [III-IV] during procedural sedation (PS) according to standard of care(SOC) in study patients scheduled for colonoscopy or ureteral catheterisation under PS. Owing to the crossover study design used throughout the trial, there are no comparison groups of study participants [I-II] or study patients [III-IV].
Equivalence Test of Two Different Inspiratory Muscle Training Protocols: a Randomised Controlled...
Inspiratory Muscle TrainingThe objective of this study is to investigate if six weeks of high intensity Inspiratory Muscle Training (IMT) performed two times a week has the same effect as five times a week in hospitalized patients with first time Spinal Cord Injury (SCI). Design/ methods: A Randomised controlled trial (RCT) including 60 patients, with reduced Maximal Inspiration Pressure (MIP) will be recruited at two specialized SCI centers in Denmark. Primary outcome is MIP after six weeks of training. Secondary outcome will be reported on Rating Perceived Exertion (RPE), voice performance, Quality Of Life (QOL)and sleep quality. Furthermore, long term follow-up at 12 months after start of intervention will also be performed.
Inspiratory Muscle Training X CardioBreath App Effects On Vagal Modulation And Pulse Wave Velocity...
Postmenopausal DisorderAutonomic Imbalance1 moreExisting data points to relevant beneficial effects of respiratory exercises on cardiovascular health, with special regards to decreases on arterial pressure and improves on autonomic and vascular profiles, though mechanistics of such results have not yet been cleared. Among the available ways to perform respiratory exercises, there is the highly recommended Inspiratory Muscle Training (IMT) and slow breathing exercises like Yoga pranayamas. Lately, the development of new technologies has allowed the use of Apps to perform respiratory exercises. This study will be take the just developed CardioBreath®App to validate it as a tool to perform respiratory exercises. Therefore, it will be compared to IMT on cardiac vagal modulation and pulse wave velocity on normotensive post menopause women.
The Effect of Slow Breathing Exercise Applied to Patients on Pulse, Blood Pressure and Quality of...
Slow BreathingAcute Myocardial InfarctionThis study was designed as a randomized controlled experimental type in order to determine the effect of slow breathing exercise applied after the procedure on heart rate, blood pressure and quality of life in patients who underwent Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) I after the diagnosis of ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI). Patients who underwent primary PCI due to STEMI in a Training and Research Hospital in Istanbul will constitute the study population. A sample will be formed with a total of 80 patients, 40 experimental and 40 control groups, selected by computer assisted simple randomization method among volunteer patients who underwent primary PCI and met the inclusion criteria. In this study, slow breathing exercise training will be given to the experimental group by the coordinator. In their home followmup after discharge, they will be asked to do slow breathing exercises for 10 minutes twice a day for eight weeks. Data will be collected using the "Patient Information Form", "MacNew Heart Disease Health Related Quality of Life Scale", "VAS Breath Therapy Satisfaction Evaluation Form", "Self-Monitoring Form" and "Patient Follow up Form". Patients will be seen again during the outpatient clinic examination in the fourth and eighth weeks and the effectiveness of slow breathing exercises will be evaluated with data collection forms.
Effectiveness of a Breathing and Relaxation Technique in Antenatal Education
PregnancyThe aim of this randomised controlled trial is to compare the effects of an antenatal education class including a breathing and relaxation technique on self-efficacy compared to a standard antenatal education class without a focus on breathing and relaxation techniques.
Effect of Breathing Techniques on Migraine Attacks and Severity
Migraine HeadachesBreathing TechniquesBackground: Migraine is a very common neurobiological disorder caused by increased excitability of the Central Nervous System. It is among the causes of the highest morbidity worldwide. Migraine has considerable economic and social impact ; affects the quality of life of patients and disrupts work life, social activities and family life. To decrease the frequency and severity of migraine attacks may be the first goal than treating the attacks. The study was designed as a Parallel Group, Add on, Randomized Controlled Experiment in order to observe the effects of breathing techniques on migraine-like headaches, frequency and severity. Methods: Participants will be divided into 2 parallel arms, intervention and control (treatment as usual). Cluster randomization will be performed to prevent intergroup contamination. Breathing techniques will be taught to the intervention group by the researcher. Both groups will continue to use pharmacotherapy for migraine. Both groups will be evaluated with migraine disability level (MIDAS) at the beginning and end of the study. The primary output of the study is to evaluate the effect of breathing techniques on the frequency and severity of attacks in migraine-like headaches. The secondary output is to evaluate the effect of breathing techniques on the MIDAS level. Discussion: The results of the study will provide information about the effect of breathing techniques on migraine-like headaches. The results of this study will contribute to the literature, since migraine is among the chronic diseases and pharmacotherapy options are limited.
The Meaning of Dopaminergic Pathway in Sleep Breathing Disorders.
Sleep ApneaSleep-Disordered BreathingThe participants in the study will be adult patients with suspected sleep-disordered breathing. A one-night polysomnography will be performed using the NOXA1 device (NOX Medical, Reykjavík, Iceland). During the polysomnographic examination, sleep, breathing, heart rate and activity of the masticatory muscles will be recorded. Blood sample will be taken from each of the participants qualified to the study and control group to determine the level of dopamine and used to perform genetic tests of selected single nucleotide polymorphisms occurring within the genes regulating the concentration of dopamine and genes encoding dopamine receptors.

Adult Patients 20 Years of Age or Older Who Are Planning to Undergo Surgery Under General AnesthesiaThe purpose of this study is to compare the preoxygenation efficacy of tidal volume breathing and vital capacity breathing.

Close Contact TransmissionThis is a single-arm, open-label, dose ramp-up exploratory clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerance of aerosol inhalation of FB2001 as post-exposure prophylaxis among close contacts of COVID-19 patients. This study will enroll 20 to 60 close contacts of COVID-19 patients aging 18 to 65 years. After signing the informed consent form, the qualified subjects will be given FB2001 once or twice daily.
