Non-Inferiority Trial of Acute HFT Versus nCPAP
Mild-Moderate Obstructive Sleep Disordered BreathingOrder randomized crossover non-inferiority study evaluating the acute efficacy of High Flow Therapy (HFT) as compared to nasal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure therapy (CPAP) in the management of apnea / hypopnea index (AHI).
Peak Tidal Inspiratory Flow in Infants With Moderate to Severe Acute Viral Bronchiolitis
BronchiolitisThis aim of this study is to measure the peak tidal inspiratory flow (PTIF), using spirometry, in young infants with moderate to severe acute viral bronchiolitis (AVB). PTIF is important to consider for the management of AVB with High Flow Nasal Cannulae (HFNC). Indeed, efficiency with HFNC is optimal provided that the settled flow is equal or higher than the patient's PTIF. However, PTIF values in infants with AVB have never been determined.
Effect of Acetazolamide on Sleep Disordered Breathing in Lowlanders Older Than 40 Years at Altitude...
Altitude HypoxiaRandomized, placebo controlled trial evaluating the effect of acetazolamide on sleep disordered breathing in lowlanders older than 40 years travelling from 760 m to 3'100 m.
Mindful Breathing Using EMA and and Actigraphy: A Pilot Study
MindfulnessThis study will examine the effect of mindful breathing and the mechanism of positive spirals of mindfulness using ecological momentary assessment (EMA) and actigraphy. Previous studies have shown a positive spiral between state mindfulness and positive affect (Du, An, Ding, Zhang, & Xu, 2018). The mindful coping model (Garland, Gaylord, & Fredrickson, 2011) suggested that the state of mindfulness can lead to reappraisal and reframing of their stressful circumstances which further lead to positive emotion and reduced stress. These positive effects will affect the next cycle and hence form a positive spiral. Since mindful breathing was an effective practice for immediate decentering (Feldman, Greeson, & Senville, 2010), it will be used as the manipulation of state mindfulness. Besides, there is very limited research on the associations between these constructs using EMA and actigraphy. Therefore, this study will explore this association by manipulating the state of mindfulness with mindful breathing using EMA.
The Effect of Home-based Exercise on Functional Capacity of Covid-19 Survivor With Cardiovascular...
Covid19Breathing Exercise1 moreObjective propose: to investigate the effect of home based breathing exercise and chest mobilization on the cardiorespiratory functional capacity of Covid-19 survivors with cardiovascular comorbidity. Breathing exercise and chest mobilization are proven to increase lung functional capacity in Covid-19 survivors. It is hypothesized that breathing exercise and chest mobilization in Covid-19 survivors will give benefits to Covid-19 survivors with cardiovascular disease.
Critical Smoke Alarm Characteristics to Awaken Children From Stage 4 Sleep
Smoke Inhalation InjuryBurnsSpecific Aim 1 is to test the hypothesis that there are specific characteristics of a voice smoke alarm (i.e., use of child's first name, behavior commands in the message content, use of mother's voice, and stimulus frequency) that will awaken children 5-12 years old in stage 4 sleep. The successful children's alarm will be tested among adult subjects to evaluate effectiveness across the age spectrum. Specific Aim 2 is to test the hypothesis that there are specific characteristics of a voice smoke alarm (i.e., use of mother's voice and behavior commands in the message content) that will result in successful completion of simulated escape behaviors by children 5-12 years old after awakening from stage 4 sleep. The successful children's alarm will be tested among adult subjects to evaluate effectiveness across the age spectrum.
Pharmacokinetics of Vancomycin for Inhalation in Cystic Fibrosis
Cystic FibrosisMethicillin-resistant Staphylococcus AureusThe purpose of this study is to determine the pharmacokinetics and safety of inhaled vancomycin in patients with cystic fibrosis.
Effect of Breathing Exercise on Certain Physiological Parameters, Sleep Quality and Vitality in...
BreathingSleep DisorderObjective: To determine the effect of breathing exercises on certain physiological parameters, sleep quality and vitality in the elderly. Method: In this randomized controlled, experimental study, pre and post tests were applied to 26 elderly participants in the intervention group and to 25 elderly patients in the control group. The intervention group underwent breathing exercises for 30 minutes at the same time of the day, three days a week for three months (pursed-lip breathing exercise, deep breathing exercise, coughing exercise), while no such exercise was carried out by the control group. Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index, the Subjective Vitality Scale, spirometer, sphygmomanometer and pulse oximetry device measurements were used for the collection of data. The data was evaluated with an independent sample t-test, a paired-sample t-test and a two-way repeated measures ANOVA.

Mechanical Ventilation ComplicationVentilator Associated Pneumonia3 moreThe purpose of study is to determine effects of three different ET cuff pressure control on microaspiration of the stomach contents.
End Tidal Anesthetic Concentration in Different Anesthesia Techniques Where Depth of Anesthesia...
General AnesthesiaInhalation; GasThe aim of this study is to adjust the end tidal inhalation anesthetic concentration by observing the entropy value in patients who will be provided anesthesia maintenance with volatile anesthetics after applying the routine epidural anesthesia technique and to observe the end tidal volatile concentration that will provide to remain in the target entropy limits during the operation.
