vDOT for Newly Diagnosed Pediatric Asthma

Asthma in Children

The goal of this research study is to compare the impact of video directly observed therapy on inhaler technique accuracy with participants receiving video directly observed therapy vs. participants receiving standard asthma care. Participants will be randomized between the two groups. We will follow up and compare the two groups to see if they have improved asthma control as measured by symptom-free days, higher inhaler technique at 3-month follow up, higher checklist scores on a standardized inhaler technique checklist, higher proportion of days covered (PDC) of their inhaled asthma controller medication, and have fewer acute care visits for asthma.

Forced Oscillations Technique During a Metacholine Test in Children

Asthma in Children

Asthma is the most common chronic lung disease in children. It affects more than 1 in 10 children in France. The methacholine bronchial challenge test (MBT) is indicated to assess the probability of asthma suggested by clinical symptoms by measuring the forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), after inhalation of a cumulative dose of methacholine. In children, the measurement of FEV1 requires a high level of cooperation from the child, which can be the source of false negatives or no result if this is not obtained. The objective of this study is to evaluate if the measurement of the respiratory function by the forced oscillations technique, allows to predict the variation of the FEV1 obtained

CARE FOR ALL:an Evaluation of an Asthma QIP

Asthma

This is an evaluation on an asthma Quality Improvement Program (QIP, including GINA guideline education/training and implementation) to understand the change of physician behaviours, which leads to the change of patient outcomes. Primary endpoint is "Change from baseline in the proportion of participants with an ICS-based maintenance and/or reliever treatment at week 48 ". A total of around 30 eligible Tier 3 and Tier 2 hospitals will be selected across China. Approximately 1500 eligible asthmatic patients fulfilling the following inclusion and exclusion criteria will be enrolled consecutively from participating hospitals,. The QIP (including GINA guideline education/training and implementation) will be delivered at the hospital level, targeting all pulmonologists and specialist nurses at participating hospitals, including initial comprehensive education, reinforcement learning, and performance assessment and feedback of pulmonologists' guideline implementation, along with multiple online and offline approaches serving as reminders and supportive tools to ensure consistent education and to facilitate the asthma management in routine clinical practice in accordance with GINA recommendation. After the initiation of the intervention program participating patients will return to the study hospital every 12 weeks for on-site follow-up visits (V1 to V5), in accordance with guideline recommendations. Meanwhile, investigators are mandatory requested to join in reinforce education at regular time. Guideline implementation performance will be assessed against with multi-approach indicators for each participant's offline or online visit. The objective of the CARE FOR ALL study is to bridge the gap that exists between the recommendations from GINA 2021 and current clinical practice by demonstrating the benefits of an asthma quality improvement program (QIP), i.e. a standardized pulmonologist-targeted GINA guideline education and practice implementation.

e-ITAG Allergen Immunotherapy in the Management of Allergic Asthma

Study the Efficacy of ITA in Patients With Allergic Asthma or Allergic Rhinitis or Allergic Rhinitis Compared With Conventional Treatment

Allergy is defined as a specific abnormal and excessive reaction of the immune system to exposed allergen . This reaction is reproducible with each new exposure allergen . A recent study by The European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology" (EAACI) estimates that 30% of the population suffers from allergic rhinitis and/or conjunctivitis, 20% of children suffer from asthma, and 8% of the population suffers from food allergies in Europe, with a clear increase in prevalence. Allergenic immunotherapy (AIT) remains a corner stone in the treatment of allergic diseases. It involves administering an increasing dose of allergens to induce immunological tolerance. The efficacy and safety of ITA have already been demonstrated. However, patient response is highly heterogeneous. This findinf illustrates the value of biomarkers in the selection of patients, enabling prediction of response to ITA and follow-up.

AD17002 Treating Poorly Controlled, Moderate to Severe Eosinophilic Asthma

Eosinophilic Asthma

The goal of this clinical trial is to investigate patients who have poorly controlled, moderate to severe eosinophilic asthma. The main questions it aims to answer are Could the LTh(αK) intranasal treatment improve the clinical condition of these patients? Could patients self-administrate LTh(αK) via the intranasal route? Is the LTh(αK) at multiple doses safe for asthmatic patients? Participants will be asked to self-administrate two doses per week for a total of 6 weeks and a diary on the usage of LTh(αK), adverse event, and reliever medication used will be recorded.

Tezepelumab PRO Study

This study assesses the impact of tezepelumab treatment not only on asthma control but also on cough specific Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL). Asthma control can be evaluated using Asthma Control Questionnaire (ACQ). Cough symptom which is one of the symptoms related airway hyperresponsiveness can be assessed via the relevant questionnaire, Leicester Cough Questionnaire (LCQ). There is moderate negative correlation between ACQ and LCQ . Improvements in both asthma control and cough symptom by tezepelumab would clarify effectiveness of Tezepelumab in real-world. Though Tezepelumab is recently approved in Japan, there is no real-world evidence on tezepelumab, particularly on above mentioned symptoms. Thus, this study aims to estimate effectiveness of tezepelumab on asthma and cough symptoms in real world settings.

Airway Remodeling and Rhinovirus in Asthmatics

Human rhinovirus is also called the "common cold virus" because it causes at least half of all of the common colds experienced each year. In patients with asthma, getting a rhinovirus infection can cause worsening of asthma symptoms. Although these symptoms are well known, researchers do not fully understand how the virus worsens these asthma symptoms, nor do they really know whether virus infection causes longer term structural changes (often referred to as airway remodeling) in the airways. This study plans to address and answer these questions. Doing so will provide the researchers with a better understanding of how to treat the worsening of asthma that are caused by human rhinovirus infections. The epithelial cell is the cell that lines the surface of your airways from your nose down to your lungs, and is also the cell type that gets infected by rhinovirus. At present, it is thought that the virus causes symptoms by changing epithelial cell biology in a way that causes airway inflammation. Some of these inflammatory molecules are also thought to cause scarring (remodeling) of the airways, which over time, may lead to a loss of lung function. In order to examine how the virus causes inflammation, many earlier studies have used experimental infection with the virus and have measured various markers of inflammation. The purpose of this study is to compare the levels of inflammatory and remodeling products in the airways of study participants with mild to moderate asthma and healthy, non-asthmatic subjects after infection with rhinovirus (the common cold virus).
