The aim of this study is to determine and compare serum cytokine levels of six different severe asthma inflammatory phenotypes differentiated by their atopy, peripheral eosinophilia and/or chronic rhinosinusitis and/or nasal polyposis status.

The primary aim of the study is to evaluate the physical activity level in patients with asthma. The secondary aims of the study are assesment of maximal and functional exercise capacity, respiratory functions, respiratory muscle strength and endurance, peripheral muscle strength, depression and anxiety levels, disease specific and respiratory quality of life, sleep and coughing associated quality of life, asthma self-management knowledge level and fatigue severity in patients with asthma.

Approximately 1.1 million children and young people in the United Kingdom (UK) are living with asthma, making it the most common chronic disease in children in the UK. Our recent observational study found that poor asthma control, poor medication adherence, and a poor understanding of asthma were key unmet needs of secondary school children. Following the findings from an earlier study, the investigators have developed a preliminary theory-based multi-faceted intervention, aimed at improving asthma self-management and control in young people.

This is an open-label, multi-center, PMS study to observe the safety and effectiveness of ARNUITY administered in asthma subjects in a real world setting. This PMS shall observe how a broad range of subjects use the drug in the early stages after obtaining the approval. The objective of this PMS is to collect safety and effectiveness data on ARNUITY's approved label in a real world setting. Total of 600 subjects shall be recruited throughout the PMS period; 01 Sep, 2018 to 30 June 2020. ARNUITY is the registered trademark of GSK group of companies.

This is a randomised, controlled, cross-over study to determine the effect of indirect bronchial challenge testing upon volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the exhaled breath of adults with well-controlled, mild-to-moderate asthma. Participants will undergo baseline evaluation including clinical history, spirometry, exhaled nitric oxide measurement (FeNO), phlebotomy (blood eosinophil count), and sampling of exhaled breath VOCs. Participants will be randomised to receive either an indirect bronchial challenge test using mannitol dry powder (MDP) or a sham bronchial challenge, followed by further sampling of breath VOCs. The study will consist of a consent visit and two assessment visits with participants allocated to receive one of the two challenges (MDP or sham) at each assessment. Data will be analysed to determine the effect of bronchial challenge upon exhaled breath VOC profiles.

To evaluate the effectiveness of add on therapy with Tiotropium Respimat® compared to increasing the dose of ICS in patients with a diagnosis of Asthma and on ICS/LABA therapy

Background: Some groups of people have a high prevalence of asthma and allergic disease. Also, asthma and allergic disease are often found in several members of the same family. Researchers want to learn more about what factors might cause asthma, both genetic and environmental. Objective: To build a collection of information to try to find genes that cause conditions and disorders such as asthma and allergic disease. Eligibility: People ages 18 99 of self-identified African, African American, or African Caribbean descent who either have no history of asthma or wheeze or have a physician s diagnosis of asthma Design: Participants will be screened with an interview by phone or in person. Participants will fill out a questionnaire about their general health and exposure to allergens and smoke. Participants will have a physical exam. Participants will have blood tests. Participants will provide a skin cell sample. Up to two samples will be taken from the inside of the nose. A brush will be used to take the samples. Participants will have a breathing test. They will be asked to blow forcefully 3 or more times into a lung function machine. Participants may have their blood and skin samples sent to a lab. DNA will be extracted from the samples and tested. Participants blood and skin samples will be stored. Samples may be used in future research studies.

Asthma and COPD are common chronic diseases of respiratory system. The correct use of inhalers is crucial in terms of efficacy of the treatment, however both asthma and COPD patients quite frequently misuse the inhalers. The objective of this study is to determine the factors influencing the number of inhalation errors committed by asthma and COPD patients when using the inhalers. In included patients the inhalation technique will be evaluated (by both list of inhalation errors and 4 point scale of proper inhaling) by two observers and the below information will be collected: general demographic information and education level information concerning time of diagnosis, the previous course of disease, smoking history, number of previous inhalation techniques training, the sources of information about the inhalation technique and adherence to therapy Asthma Control Test or COPD Assessment Test (respectively for asthma and COPD) assessment of quality of life (St. George's Questionnaire for COPD and Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire for asthma) cognitive functions assessment using Mini-Mental State Examination the simplified assessment of vision impairments the results of spirometry

This pilot study will use novel technologies to collect information about the patient experience before and early after starting Fasenra (benralizumab) as standard of care for severe uncontrolled asthma in a real-world setting, to determine how the experience changes over time. Any detection of an early, subjective first-dose effect in this pilot study will be further validated in a larger follow-up study.

In this study new hand-held devices for measuring exhaled breath will be tested in children with asthma, CF, and healthy controls. Main objectives will be feasibility and discriminative value of these techniques.
