Systemic Corticosteroids Avoidance Study in Severe Asthma Patients

Asthma

The overall purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy of fevipiprant (150 mg and 450 mg once daily), compared with placebo, as add-on to standard-of-care asthma therapy, in terms of avoidance of corticosteroid use over 52 weeks.

Sputum-derived Cellular Targets After Xolair (Omalizumab)

Asthma

The primary purpose of this study is to identify additional mechanisms of action of omalizumab that will lead to improved stratification of patients for treatment. Understanding the response of specific innate immune effector cells in the lung can provide clues to these questions. Investigators will use non-invasive measures of a discrete cell population to examine the downstream effects of omalizumab treatment in the lung. Information derived from these studies will help clarify mechanisms of action of omalizumab and help identify potential tools for patient endotyping and stratification for therapeutic interventions.

A Study to Test if TEV-53275 is Effective in Relieving Asthma

Asthma

The primary objective of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of TEV-53275 administered subcutaneously (sc) in adult participants with persistent asthma and an eosinophilic phenotype compared to placebo. A secondary objective is to evaluate the efficacy of TEV-53275 compared to placebo assessed by lung function, asthma symptoms, rescue medication use, and quality of life measures. Another secondary objective is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of TEV-53275 administered sc in adult participants with persistent asthma and an eosinophilic phenotype compared with placebo, and lastly, to evaluate the immunogenicity of TEV-53275 administered sc in adult participants with persistent asthma and an eosinophilic phenotype.

Examining Changes in Nasal IL-1 During Acute Asthma Exacerbation in Adolescents

Asthma

To study the change from baseline in IL-1β (interleukin 1 beta) concentrations in the nasal airway during acute asthma exacerbation, specifically to measure the degree of change and identify the timing of peak IL-1β concentration. This information will allow the investigators to estimate effect size and guide decisions about the optimal timing of anakinra administration for the future study.

Open-Label Extension Study to Evaluate the Long-Term Safety and Efficacy of Reslizumab (3.0 mg/kg)...

Eosinophilic Asthma

The primary objective of the study is to evaluate the long-term safety of reslizumab at a dosage of 3.0 mg/kg every 4 weeks for approximately 24 months in pediatric and adult patients with eosinophilic asthma as assessed by adverse events, physical examination findings, vital sign measurements, and concomitant medication usage throughout the study (every 4 weeks), clinical laboratory test results, and measurement of antidrug antibodies.

Study on BI 54903 (Inhaled Corticosteroid) Administered Twice Daily Via Respimat Inhaler in Patients...

Asthma

The aim of the study is to assess and compare efficacy and safety of BI 54903 at three different dosages (b.i.d)., fluticasone propionate hydrofluoroalkane (HFA) metered dose inhaler (MDI) at a dose of 440 mcg b.i.d and low dose fluticasone propionate 88 mcg b.i.d. over an 8-week treatment period in asthmatic patients aged 12 to 65 years inadequately controlled medium dose ICS therapy as demonstrated by a decrease in forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) range 10 to 25 % and an asthma control questionnaire-6 (ACQ-6) equal or greater than 1.5 at time of randomisation.

Trial on the Effect of Budesonide/Formoterol and Inhaled Budesonide Alone on Exercise-Induced Asthma...

Exercise Induced Asthma

The purpose of this study is to find out if Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol), a new combination asthma medication, is more effective than budesonide alone in controlling exercise induced asthma. The investigators hypothesize that in children and adults who suffer from asthma and exercise induced asthma there will be less decline in lung function associated with exercise when they receive the study medication.

A Pilot Study to Determine the Most Effective Dose of Arformoterol for Treating Acute Asthmatic...

Acute Asthma

The purpose of this study is to determine the best dose of nebulized arformoterol, a quick onset but long acting beta agonist, for use in treating acute bronchospasm in asthmatics presenting to the the Emergency Department. Also this study will evaluate the side effect and safety profile of arformoterol when used in this situation.
