Autologous Bone Marrow Cell Treatment in Peripheral Atherosclerosis

Peripheral Vascular Diseases

Implantation of bone marrow cells, including endothelial progenitor cells, into ischemic limbs has been shown to improve collateral vessel formation. In the present study the safety and feasibility of autologous blood mononuclear cells implantation will be investigated in patients with severe peripheral atherosclerosis.Twenty cases will be enrolled. Improvement in the ankle-brachial pressure index (ABI:>0.1), ischemic ulcers and angiography as well as laser doppler flow will be evaluated until six months.

Characterizing PAI-1 Modulation on Monocyte Adhesion

Atherosclerosis

To determine how altering the expression of a gene known as PAI-1 may affect the adhesive capacity of cells that play a critical role in the developement of human atherosclerosis.

Stella Supera Siberia

AtherosclerosisPeripheral Arterial Disease1 more

Endovascular treatment with stenting is currently used in the treatment of femoro-popliteal lesions. This technique tends to extend to lesions for which the gold standard remains until now the open surgery treatment (lesions TASC C and D). The primary objective of the study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy at 12 months of the SuperA stent (Abbott) in the treatment of long de novo atherosclerotic lesions TASC C and D in patients with symptomatic peripheral arterial disease. The secondary objectives are to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of the SuperA stent at 24 months, according to clinical, morphological and haemodynamic criterias, the possible influence of calcifications and the quality of life of patients

Rosuvastatin Effect on Reducing Coronary Atherosclerosis Plaques Volume

HyperlipidemiaCoronary Artery Disease

This multicentre, open-label, single-arm Study is to evaluate the effect of Rosuvastatin 20 mg 76 weeks on coronary atherosclerosis plaque versus baseline in Chinese coronary heart disease (CHD) patients with hyperlipidemia by measuring the plaque volume using a 64 slice spiral CT. Effect on blood lipids, hsCRP and Carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) is also evaluated.

Family Blood Pressure Program - GENOA (Genetic Epidemiology Network of Atherosclerosis)

ArteriosclerosisHypertension1 more

GENOA, the Genetic Epidemiology Network of Arteriopathy, consists of a network of three field centers and biochemical and genetic core labs to study the common polymorphic genetic variations to determine individual differences in blood pressure and essential hypertension in 1,500 sibling pairs in three racial groups. Linkage analyses are performed using an extensive array of candidate genes and anonymous markers throughout the genome.

The Effect of a Natural Polyphenolic Extract From Pomegrnate (POMX) on the Development of Atherosclerosis...

Atherosclerosis

Diabetes is a highly atherogenic disease. Pomegranate juice has impressive antioxidant properties. It has been proven to decrease oxidant stress and to cause the regression of atherosclerotic plaques in hypercholestrolemic and diabetic patients.Furthermore it has been proven to potentiate the biologic activity of the enzyme paraoxonase 1 which is very important in preventing atherosclerosis. The study will try to prove that a polyphenolic extract from pomegranate (POMx) has the same desired effects.
