Is There a Relationship Between the Risk of Injury and Posture in Wrestlers?

Sport InjuryPosture2 more

This study was planned to investigate the relationship between the risk of injury and posture in wrestlers. The study will be included male wrestlers. The spine posture and flexibility of the athletes will be measured during standing position with the Idiag M360® brand Spinal Mouse (SM), while the overall body posture will be measured from the anterior and lateral sides using the New York Posture Analysis Method (NYPAM). Injury risks of the athletes will be evaluated by Functional Movement Screen (FMS) which was consisting of seven basic movement patterns.

Real-World Experience of Patients Treated for Musculoskeletal Injuries With SAM in Routine Care...

Musculoskeletal InjuryPain9 more

The purpose of this study is to evaluate continuous ultrasound treatment with diclofenac coupling patch during routine care of musculoskeletal injuries which failed conservative treatment to better understand clinical utilization of the treatment on types of injuries, how the treatment helps patients (pain, function and quality of life), and information on healthcare provider ordering the therapy and general workflow. Low-intensity continuous ultrasound (LICUS) is a bio regenerative technology used when normal rehabilitation is insufficient, applied with a wearable device (SAM, Zetroz Systems LLC) for daily use. The treatment provides long-duration ultrasound for approximately four hours. The objective of this study is to examine the real-world outcome data on symptoms improvement and return to function using SAM during routine care.

Shoulder Muscle Imbalance as a Risk Factor for Shoulder Injury in Elite Badminton Players

Sport InjuryShoulder Injuries

Background: To assess the impact of pre-season clinical measures and rotator muscles strength on the risk of significant shoulder injury (SSI) in elite badminton players Design: Prospective cohort study Participants: Nineteen elite adolescents badminton players were included and followed over the badminton season (from september 2018 to may 2019 and/or from september 2019 to may 2020) . Independent variables: A pre-season visit consisted in clinical and isokinetic shoulder strength testing. Clinical testing consisted in the shoulder range of motion (ROM) measurements and the table-to-acromion distance (TAD)Isokinetic internal and external rotator shoulder muscles strength was tested at 60 and 240°/s. Conventional and functional (eccentric-to-concentric) ratios (FR) were calculated. SSI collection was performed by an experienced sport physician.

Pain in Competitive Athletes With Physical Disabilities and Techniques for Its Management

Athletic InjuriesPhysical Disability1 more

There are psychosocial factors that affect pain, and therefore, psychological intervention techniques have been added to its usual pharmacological and physiotherapeutic treatment. Despite the abundant evidence that addresses psychosocial factors as clear mediators in the perception of pain, the use of psychological techniques for pain management in competitive athletes, and more especially in competitive athletes with physical disabilities, is scarce. The purpose of this study was to ascertain the perception of high-level competitive athletes with physical disability and sports agents (coaches, physiotherapists and psychologists).

Single Leg Squat Performance in Physically and Non-physically Active Individuals

Single Leg Squat PerformanceAthletic Injuries

Single-leg squat (SLS) is a functional test visually rated by clinicians for assessing lower limb function as a preventive injury strategy. SLS clinical rating is a qualitative evaluation and it does not count objective outcomes as kinematics data and surface electromyography (sEMG) assessment. Based on the SLS rating, the aims of this study were (i) to determine the clinical rating agreement among six raters and (ii) to assess kinematic and sEMG predictors of good SLS performance in physically and non-physically active individuals.

CFD Analysis and Risk of TOS in Sport

Thoracic Outlet SyndromeSport Injury

Thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) may complicate the activities of sporty subjects that participate in sports that involves upper extremities activities, such as baseball, tennis, swimming, rowing, volleyball, rugby football, and weightlifting. Disability and postintervention recovery related to TOS treatment and possible surgery may have a significant impact in the overall performance abilities of athletes. This study aims to detect the early predisposition of athletes to TOS onset, by means of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of thoracic outlet region.

Sex & Sleep in Athletes

Sexual BehaviorSleep1 more

Achieving the correct quantity and quality of sleep is essential for the health and recovery processes of the athlete; night rest is often negatively influenced by many variables, including: high training loads, long-range trips, evening competitions, and / or high levels of anxiety and stress. High training loads can therefore have negative influences both on sleep but also on the risk of injury in athletes. Understanding and studying, in different sports, how sexual / masturbatory activity can influence sleep has primary importance for athletic and medical staff of athletes with the ultimate aim of preserving sports performance and reducing the risk of injuries. The primary objective of this experimentation is to explore the perceived relationship between sexual activity (or masturbation), sleep quality and sleep latency in a population of athletes.

Glenohumeral Internal Rotation Deficit in Non-pitcher Overhead Athletic Athletes: Case Series Analysis...

Shoulder InjuriesShoulder Syndrome2 more

In this observational case series the investigators would like to investigate wether or not the strenuous activity exerted on over head athletic athletes (ie. javelin throwers, discus throwers) may incite injury on their shoulders. The investigators understood that these athletes had to perform repeated throwing motions and yet reports on their effects are very limited. This condition in the long run may contribute to injury and affecting performance of the athletes. The investigators found that these relationships have not been looked at closely by others and largely overshadowed by athletes in other fields; such injury patterns had been described in details in baseball pitchers but not in other athletes.

Biometric Recognition and Rehabilitation Assessment of Lower Extremity Sports Injury Based on Gait...

Sport InjuryOsteoarthritis1 more

The current common clinical methods cannot truly reflect the biomechanical status of the knee joint. Based on the foot-knee coupling mechanism, the simple and practical dynamic gait touch information provided by the 3D force platform are closely related to the knee biomechanics. The purpose of this study is to investigate the disease feature recognition, computer-aided diagnosis and rehabilitation assessment based on the gait touch information related to lower limb injuries.
