Trial of Propranolol in Adults and Adolescents With ASD and Predictors of Response
AutismThe purpose of this study is to explore the effects of propranolol on social interaction, and secondarily on language, anxiety, adaptive behaviors, and global function in high functioning adults and adolescents with autism in a double-blinded, placebo-controlled pilot trial.
Parenting a Child With Autism Spectrum Disorder and Marital Status
Autism Spectrum DisorderThe purpose of this study is to investigate whether the presence of a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder places parents at increased risk for divorce.
Adipose Derived Stem Cell Therapy for Autism
AutismThe intent of this clinical study is to answer the questions: Is the proposed treatment safe Is treatment effective in improving the disease pathology of patients with Autism.
Double-blind Trial of Buspirone for the Treatment of Anxiety in Youth With Autism Spectrum Disorders...
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)The main objective of this exploratory 8 week pilot study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of buspirone for the treatment of anxiety in youth (ages 6-17 years) with autism spectrum disorders. The study results will be used to generate hypotheses for a larger randomized controlled clinical trial with explicit hypotheses and sufficient statistical power.
Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO) Autism Diagnostic Study in Primary Care Setting...
Children 18-72 Months With a Suspicion of Autism Spectrum DisorderThis is a collaborative study that will provide a comprehensive source of observational data that can be used to obtain real world evidence of ASD. The study will contain demographic and observational clinical data for eligible participants. All decisions regarding patient care will be determined by the ECHO Autism Clinician (EAC). All clinical outcomes will be assessed by the EAC as would occur in routine clinical practice.
Evaluation of the Efficiency of Treatment by BUMETANIDE on Autistic Children With a Known Ethiology...
Autistic DisorderDuring a previous therapeutic trial, investigators showed that the bumetanide improved significantly autism. This trial showed that a therapeutic response was obtained in 75% of cases. These first results were reinforced by a study led with adult patients for whom the eye tracking measurements as well as the functional MRI showed a diminution of the response time and a modification (amplification) of the cerebral response during an emotions recognition test. Finally, investigators confirmed the physiological mechanism behind the action of the bumetanide in a study in two mouse models of autism.
Neurocircuitry of Autism- fMRI and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Studies
Autism Spectrum DisorderAsperger Disorder1 moreThis study uses functional brain imaging and noninvasive brain stimulation techniques to study the brain basis of developmental disorders like Autism Spectrum Disorder and Asperger Disorder. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and recently approved FDA treatment of depression, Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) will be used to study the neurocircuitry of certain symptom clusters in developmental disorders.
Screening for Neurodevelopmental Disorders in Siblings of Children With Autism Diagnosed in Tertiary...
Autism Spectrum DisorderSiblings1 moreIn this study, a selective and multi-stages screening for neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD) in siblings of children with a confirmed ASD is done. The main aims are to estimate the prevalence of NDD among siblings and to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of a standardized screening procedure.
Pain in Adults With Autism Spectrum Disorder
AutismPainPain insensibility is often described in people with autism. The aim of this study is to test the pain perception in adults with autistic spectrum disorder without intellectual disability. An experimental model of pain is used to measure endogenous modulation systems. Thermic stimulations (tonic heat pain stimulation and cold-pressor test) are used to test excitatory and inhibitory pain mechanisms. Salivary cortisol and automatic nervous system (heart rate and blood pressure with an electrocardiogram (Brest :system dantec keypoint natus G3 ; Paris: nexfin HD®) are also tested and behavioral response to thermal stimulation assessed by an inspired behavior scale.
Sleep and Central Auditory Processing Disorder in Autism Spectrum Disorder
Central Auditory Processing DisorderAutism Spectrum Disorder1 moreThe proposed study aims to understand poor sleep as a possible cause to CAPD in children and adolescents with ASD (ASD+) compared to ASD youth without CAPD (ASD-), using both caregiver-report and objective clinician administered measures. Additionally, the study will aim to understand the complex relationship between CAPD, sleep, and other associated phenotypic features of ASD such as executive and psychiatric functioning.
