This study evaluates the change of insulin resistance and glucose metabolism of patients with panniculitis associated acquired lipodystrophy syndrome and type 1 diabetes with the treatment of cyclophosphamide.

The proposed study is designed to test the hypothesis that treatment of resveratrol for 12 weeks will improve both endothelin-B receptor (aim 1) and skeletal muscle mitochondrial function (aim 2) in people with type 1 diabetes.

This study is intended to test a Web-based Information Tool (WIT) software providing additional information regarding time in range, GMI, hypo- and hyperglycemia risks, variability tracker, daily glycemic profiles, and potential changes of insulin pump parameters, to users of a commercially available Closed-Loop Control (CLC) System (Control-IQ Technology).

This is a single-center, phase IIT clinical trial to evaluate autologous regenerative islet transplantation for insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. Twenty patients with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus will be enrolled: poor blood glucose control despite intensive exogenous insulin therapy. The primary endpoint will be defined by the return to normal blood glucose control without insulin at 12 months after transplantation.

A multi-center, placebo-controlled, double blind, 1:1:1 randomized control clinical trial testing two different JAK Inhibitors abrocitnib, ritlecitinib, and placebo in subjects with recent onset Stage 3 Type 1 Diabetes within 100 days of diagnosis.

This is a dose finding trial where participants will receive escalating doses of acetazolamide, each for a 2-week dosing period followed by a 2-week washout period. The three doses examined will be open-label 62.5mg twice daily, 125mg twice daily, and 250mg twice daily of acetazolamide. A baseline Iohexol GFR (glomerular filtration rate) measurement will be performed prior to the first administration of each acetazolamide dose and then again following each dosing period. Including a screening visit and a follow-up visit, there will be a total of 8 study visits over approximately 16 weeks.

This project is a randomized controlled trial of iACT, a novel mHealth intervention for eating disorders in type 1 diabetes (ED-T1DM). Participants will be 128 T1DM patients between the ages of 16-45 with binge-purge EDs, including threshold and subthreshold bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder and purging disorder. Participants will be randomized to either iACT or Usual Care, and complete assessments at baseline and every 3 months for 9 months. The primary outcome of interest is glycemic control as assessed by continuous glucose monitoring. Other outcomes include HbA1c, eating disorder symptoms, diabetes self-management and diabetes distress. In addition to examining clinical outcomes, this study tests biobehavioral mechanisms of change and predictors of treatment response. Process of change assessments focus on flexible responding to pathology-relevant stimuli and early improvement in glycemic control affecting executive function. The primary site is Duke University Medical Center. The Miriam Hospital is a secondary site.

A pilot proof of concept clinical trial will be performed to demonstrate the restoration of gut barrier integrity by administration of beneficial anti-inflammatory gut microbial strains (Lactobacilli-enriched Vivomixx® probiotic) to new onset Type 1 Diabetes Children.

Carbohydrates are the nutrient in the diet with the greatest impact on blood glucose. Inadequate carbohydrate counts are associated with higher A1c and greater variations in postprandial blood glucose. Clinical guidelines for the nutritional treatment of diabetes recommend that patients with DM1 learn carbohydrate counting or some similar systematic strategy that allows for better metabolic control. However, despite the recommendations, this is still not a reality for most healthcare services treating individuals diagnosed with DM1.

The reason why women with type 1 diabetes have a 2-3 fold greater risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) compared to men with type 1 diabetes is unknown.The purpose of this study is to investigate whether or not estrogen contributes to vascular dysfunction in premenopausal women with diabetes.
