Mental Health Screenings in Adolescents With Type I Diabetes

Diabetes Mellitus Type I

This study will focus on screening for mental health symptoms in adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) while assessing the relationship of these symptoms with a parent-reported parenting styles survey, and the youth's report of their ability to manage their own diabetes care through a self-efficacy survey. Gender differences will be explored in relation to the different measures.

Influence of Glycaemic Balance on the Ability of Apolipoprotein C1 to Inhibit Cholesteryl Ester...

diabète de Type 1

In type-1 diabetes patients, bad cholesterol tends to accumulate because apoC1 function is slowed down. ApoC1 is a protein whose role is to diminish the activity of CETP, another protein that regulates cholesterol transfer in the body. The aim of this study is to determine whether it is possible to correct apoC1 function by improving glycaemic balance. 240 persons will be recruited in this study and allocated to one of two groups: 160 Type-1 diabetes patients with uncontrolled diabetes: 4 additional blood samples will be taken at the time of the systematic biological examination at inclusion and then again 3 months later. 80 control subjects with normal lipids and normal glycaemia balance will be included in the study following the results of the biological assays. 4 blood samples will be taken at the time of inclusion.

Mechanisms of Glucose Counterregulation in Pancreatic Islet Transplantation

Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus

Pancreatic islet transplantation improves glucose counterregulation and stabilizes glycemic control in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus prone to severe hypoglycemia even if insulin independence is not achieved. However, the extent and underlying metabolic pathways of this improvement are unknown. Investigators therefore compare systemic glucose turnover including lactate gluconeogenesis and muscle glucose utilization, between insulin-requiring islet transplant recipients, matched type 1 diabetic subjects who did not receive islet transplantation, and matched healthy non-diabetic subjects.

Guidelines for Post-exercise Dietary Intake in T1DM

Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus

The investigators hypothesise that manipulating the glycaemic index of the meal after exercise and before sleep will help prevent Type 1 diabetes individuals experiencing hypoglycaemia.

The Impact of Initiating/Switching to Insulin Detemir on Emotional Well-being and Treatment Satisfaction...

DiabetesDiabetes Mellitus3 more

This study is conducted in Europe. The aim of this study is to assess the well-being of patients following treatment with insulin detemir (Levemir®) in subjects with type 1 or type 2 diabetes in whom either initiation of or a switch to insulin treatment with a long-acting basal insulin analogue is needed.

Observational Study of the Predictability of Levemir® in Terms of Metabolic Control, Change of Body...

DiabetesDiabetes Mellitus3 more

This trial is conducted in Europe. The aim of this trial is to evaluate the effect of Levemir® (insulin detemir) on glycaemic control, weight and incidence of hypoglycaemic events in insulin treated subjects with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.

Pilot Study of the Navigator Continuous Glucose Monitor

Diabetes MellitusInsulin-Dependent

This study is being done to find out how accurate the Navigator continuous glucose monitor is in children. It is also being done to see if use of the Navigator can improve blood sugar control and help prevent low blood sugar events. This study has three basic parts: Use of the Navigator at home for one week without being able to see the blood sugar readings; a Baseline visit or a 24-hour admission to a research unit of the hospital to find out how well the Navigator measures the blood sugar; and then 3 months use of the Navigator at home as an aid to diabetes care.
