Use of the Guardian™ Connect System With Smart Connected Devices

Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus

The purpose of this study is to collect sensor, insulin, sleep, activity and food/meal data for a minimum of 90 days of device wear (Phase 1) and up to a maximum of 9 months of device wear (Phase 2) with optional insulin injection video capture and/or menstrual cycle tracking and/or cardiac monitoring in subjects with insulin requiring diabetes 2-80 years of age.

Early High-Dose Vitamin D and Residual β-Cell Function in Pediatric Type 1 Diabetes

Type 1 Diabetes

The project aims to study the effect of early high-dose vitamin D supplementation on type 1 diabetes in children and adolescents receiving intensive insulin therapy. The results may lead to major changes in the early treatment of type 1 diabetes, with special emphasis on the use of vitamin D to improve the function of residual β-cells and maintain standardized insulin therapy for these patients. The overall goal is to reduce the long-term complications of type 1 diabetes.

Diabetes MellitusType 1

Insulin remains the only approved treatment for type 1 diabetes mellitus patients and is used by many with type 2 diabetes. Carbohydrate counting is the most recommended way to prescribe prandial insulin dose because it is safe and efficacious, and also it allows a more variate diet to patients. Methods to improve carbohydrate counting include automatization of the process, optimizing carbohydrate meal content estimation, and including other nutrients such as fat into the equation. Being an iterative process that patients perfect by practicing and repeating, we believe that using simulations can improve carbohydrate counting. Simulations allow individuals to practice in a safe environment and help build confidence in one's ability to perform a task. In this clinical trial, patients assigned to the intervention group will have installed the STUDIA app, an automatic carbohydrate counter coupled to a mathematical model that simulates glucose excursions at the individual level using the patients' parameters in their smartphone. Time in range will be measured using a continuous glucose monitor.

This study was planned as a randomized controlled experimental study to determine the effect of exercise with Augmented Reality Glasses (AR) on metabolic parameters, anthropometric measurement values and quality of life in children with T1DM aged 10-12 years. The research will be carried out with children aged 10-12 with T1DM who are followed up in Erciyes University Health Application and Research Center Fevzi Mercan-Mustafa Eraslan Children's Hospital Pediatric Endocrinology Outpatient Clinic. A total of 30 (AR exercise group=15 and control group=15) children with T1DM between the ages of 10-12 will be included in the sample of the study, according to the sampling calculation. The data of the study, Descriptive Characteristics Form for Children with T1DM and Their Families, Serum and Urine Biochemistry Values Form, Anthropometric Measurement Values Form, Quality of Life Scale for Children with Diabetes Mellitus Child and Parent Form (PedsQL 3.0), Augmented Reality Glasses, Continuous Glucose Tracker, Blood Glucose Meter, Body Composition Analyzer, Caliper, Tape Measure and Digital Height and Weight Meter. Ethics committee approval from "Erciyes University Clinical Research Ethics Committee" and institutional permission from "ERU Health Application and Research Center Mustafa Eraslan Fevzi Mercan Children's Hospital" were obtained in order to conduct the study. Hypothesis tests, correlation and regression analyzes will be applied according to the suitability of the data for normal distribution. As a result of the study; Exercise practice with augmented reality glasses is expected to improve metabolic parameters and anthropometric measurement values and increase the quality of life in children with T1DM. The main question it aims to answer are: Exercise with augmented reality glasses in children with T1DM; It has an effect on metabolic parameters. It has an effect on anthropometric measurement values. It has an effect on the scores of the Quality of Life in Children with Diabetes Mellitus Scale-Child and Parent Form (PedsQL 3.0).

Lisdexamphetamine vs Methylphenidate for Pediatric Patients With ADHD and Type 1 Diabetes

This clinical trial aims to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an intervention involving parental training in behaviour management and medication in children with both Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and Attention Deficit Disorder with Hyperactivity (ADHD). ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects around 5% of school-age children and adolescents, while T1D is a chronic disease requiring strict management. After initial parental training provided for parents/legal guardians, the children will be randomized to one of two cross-over groups, and treated with either lisdexamfetamine or methylphenidate first. After dose optimization for first 5-7 weeks, patients will be treated for 6 months total, after which they will be switched to the other drug. Researchers will then compare the ADHD symptom severity as measured by Conners 3 questionnaire, and compare the frequency of any adverse events associated with the therapy. As secondary outcomes, patient's T1D control and quality of life will be compared between the two drugs.

This study is a 12 month open-label, two-arm randomised parallel-group trial in adult type 1 diabetes patients executed in 14 centres in the Netherlands. The aim of this study is to determine the long-term clinical effectiveness of treatment with a dual-hormone (insulin and glucagon) fully closed loop system during 12 months compared to the current most used care and to the currently most advanced technological care. Secondary objectives include the assessment of cost-effectiveness, Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), other glycaemic outcomes and safety.
