Kettlebell Swings & Low Back Pressure Pain Threshold

Low Back Pain

The purpose of this study is to determine whether a high intensity kettlebell workout, utilizing a Tabata protocol format, can decrease objective measures of pain pressure threshold in subjects without low back pain. The results of the study could have implications for the use of high intensity kettlebell workouts in the rehabilitation of patients with low back pain.

Hip-spine Intervention for Older Adults With Chronic Low Back Pain

Low Back Pain

Low back pain (LBP) is extremely common in older adults and is associated with a host of negative consequences, including decreased physical function and increased healthcare utilization. Among older adults with LBP, hip impairments indicative of hip joint disease are more prevalent and associated with greater disability than among older adults without LBP. This study will investigate a novel intervention designed to improve LBP-related disability by combining a typical spine-focused exercise program with a hip-focused intervention.

Effects of Magnetic Tape on Isometric Hip Strength in Patients With Low Back Pain. RCT

Low Back Pain

The tape will be applied on the lumbar area bilaterally to the spine without creating any tension. The possible variation in the isometric hip strength is measured with the mDurance®, surface electromyography and the Lafayette® dynamometer. A kinesiology tape was used as a placebo tape and the magnetic tape was used in a randomized experimental way.

Chronic Low Back Pain and Neck Pain Prospective Study

Chronic Low Back PainChronic Neck Pain

This prospective observation multifaceted study aims: To perform a large prospective study and identify multiple "omics" biomarkers in chronic low back pain To validate identified biomarkers for progression of acute to chronic low back pain To validate identified biomarkers and test their heritability/validity in additional cohorts To identify pathways and relevant individual variations for generation, propagation and subsidence of pain To identify new imaging biomarkers related to chronic low back pain To develop a registry of neck and low back pain subjects to help monitor the health-care management and utility to improve protocols and patient outcomes.

TENS Reduces Movement-Evoked Pain in People With CLBP

Chronic Low-back Pain

In this cross-over study 25 patients with chronic low back pain (CLBP) were tested for pain relief in 2 conditions: while using the Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) application and without using it. Primary outcome: Movement-Evoked Pain (MEP). This was measured using the Back Performance Scale (BPS) and a 5-minute walk test (5MWT). Participants performed 5 functional tasks and were asked to rate their pain before, during, and after each movement on a numeric rating score scale. The same principle will be used for the 5MWT: for each walking-minute, 3 pain measurements will be assessed.
