Feasibility Assessment of Neurophysiological Measurement in Veterans With LBP
Low Back PainThis is study testing the feasibility of collecting neurophysiological measures of outcome related to body-based interventions for low back pain. The investigators will collect fMRI and psychophysical data about pain sensitivity before and after the interventions. Participants will be randomly assigned to either spinal manipulation or therapeutic touch groups. Participants will attend two practice sessions prior to the first data collection. There will be two follow-up assessments.
Brain Imaging Study of Acupuncture in Chronic Low Back Pain
Low Back PainBack Pain Lower Back Chronic2 moreWe are doing this research study to learn about how acupuncture treatment works. This study is being done to look at changes in the brain, NOT to treat pain. We want to learn about brain activity during acupuncture. We will look at brain activity when a heating device touches the skin of a subject before and after the subject has acupuncture, to see what changes.
The Benefit of Structured Triage of Patients in the Primary Health Care Seeking Care for Low Back...
Low Back PainThis study aims to investigate if a low back pain screening tool is helpful for the caregivers to direct the rehabilitation in a more efficient way, at an earlier stage. Primary Health care centers in the municipality of Halmstad, Sweden will be enrolled to participate in the study as either "Control" or "intervention". The primary Health care centers who are enrolled taking part in the intervention, will use the provided screening tool when taking care of patients seeking care for low back pain. Scorings from the screening tool will "label" the patients as one of Three pre-defined risk levels. The caregiver will then use the provided risk level when deciding how to proceed the rehabilitation. Based on the risk level identified, the patient is directed to one of three levels of treatments - including simple advice; physiotherapy; or multimodal rehabilitation. The screening tool is used as a complement to the examination, allowing the physiotherapist /GP to decide how to proceed with rehabilitation using the back screening tool, together with Clinical examinations. The Control Group consists of patients recruited when seeking care for back pain at a Primary Health Care service who has been randomly selected as "Control". The care givers at the Control primary Health care will conduct as usual, not using the back pain screening tool in their Clinical examinations.
Validation of Hausa Oswestry Disability Index, Numeric Pain Rating Scale, Roland-Morris Disability...
Chronic Low Back PainOswestry Disability Index (ODI), Numeric Pain Rating Scale, Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ), SF-12 Health Survey, Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS), Fear-Avoidance Beliefs Questionnaire (FABQ), Global Rating of Change Scale and Back Beliefs Questionnaire (BBQ) are important and widely used validated patient self-reported measures commonly used in clinical trials and health research involving patients with low back pain (LBP). However, to date, validated Hausa versions of these tools are unavailable for use despite not only Hausa language is commonly spoken in Nigeria but in other parts of the world. The purpose of this study is to perform, using evidence-based guidelines, translation, cultural adaptation and validation of the ODI, NPRS, RMDQ, SF-12 health survey, FABQ, PCS, GROC and BBQ into Hausa language among patients with LBP in Northern Nigeria.
Safety of Acupuncture Treatments for Chronic Low Back Pain in Older Adults
Chronic Low Back PainOlder AdultsAcupuncture, along with other complementary and integrative treatments, is commonly used as a complementary or integrative therapy when treating a multitude of pain complaints, including chronic low back pain(CLBP). It has been practiced as a non-pharmacological therapy in the United States over one hundred years. Integrative pain management pilot programs have demonstrated impressive reductions in medications use, emergency room visits, and annual costs of healthcare. In fact, CLBP is one of the most common conditions treated in an acupuncturist's daily schedule. Based on acupuncturists' practice, CLBP has accounted for about 12% of patient visits in recent years. Most CLBP patients who come to acupuncturists' clinic are older adults. Investigators will retrospectively check the safety of acupuncture, i.e.side effects or adverse effects of acupuncture during treatments of CLBP in older adults in past 5 years.
Validation of the French Version RTWSE (Return To Work Self Efficacy Scale)
Chronic Low Back PainThe back pain connected to the work stay a major problem in industrialized countries, in particular because of the repercussions of this affection on the work (sick leave, absenteeism, handicap and inaptitude). It is difficult to consider among all the patients with a Chronic Low Back Pain in the work: how much they are going to stop. However, Investigator can consider that approximately 20 % of the patients have a sick leave. Several studies showed well that more the sick leave work stoppage goes on more the risk of not resumption of work increases. Several risk factors were associated to the evolutionary forecast of the pathology and thus to the extension extra time of the sick leave: individual, environmental, psychosocial and organizational. The evaluation of the self-efficiency perceived of return in the work of the patients by a validated auto-questionnaire is thus an additional objective parameter determining the risk factors of unfavorable evolution of the patients with Low Back Pain. This parameter also allows highlight other levers of actions in the therapeutic education.
Reliability, Validity Of The Turkish Version Of The Back Performance Scale
Low Back PainIn this study, we performed the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of Back Performance Scale.
Evaluation of the Effectiveness of a SPA Therapy to "Neyrac-les-Bains" to the Old Subject (60-80...
Chronic Low Back PainLow back pain is considered to be chronic if it has been present for longer than three months. This pathology is extremely frequent with an annual incidence between 5 in 10 % of the general population. Thus she is frequently met in general medicine, in particular to the ageing subject. It is the 2nd motive for consultation. The Chronic Low Back Pain is a mild pathology the forecast of which is in the favorable great majority of the cases but she pulled a socioeconomic cost mattering with a poly-consumption of care, in private individuals. The primary objective of this study is to determine the impact of a 3 months SPA Therapy on the Chronic Low Back Pain in older adults (from 60 to 80 years old) realizing a SPA Therapy of 3 weeks to "Neyrac-les-Bains".
Validity and Predictive Value of Manual Clinical Test to Identify Symptomatic Segments in Lumbar...
Low Back PainThis study evaluates the predictor value of manual test in lumbar chronic patients blocks. Bibliography has show limited evidence of clinical predictors in lumbar blocks. Prior to lumbar facet block or medial branch denervation patient will be evaluated with manual provocative segmental movements, lumbar sagittal range of motion, manual segmental movement and slump neural test . Immediate, one and six months effect will be registered.
The Effect Of Low Back Pain on Paraspinal Muscles
Low Back PainLow back pain is frequently seen in the adolescent age group, with a prevalence approaching that of the adult age group. The most common type is non-specific, self-limiting low back pain. LDH is rare in children and adolescents and generally presents with low back pain, with or without radiculopathy. The condition is usually unilateral (especially L4-5 or L5-S1). LDH is also mostly central type. Although there are many studies that have investigated the relationship between paraspinal muscle volumes and LBP and/or LDH in the adult age group, there are very few studies in adolescents. The principal aim of this study was to compare MF, ES, and PM volumes in adolescents with LBP with and without LDH using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and to determine whether these two conditions cause paraspinal muscle volume loss.
