The aim is to study if pre-surgery physiotherapy improves function, pain and health in patients with specific low back pain scheduled for surgery. Patients are followed over a two year period. A secondary aim is to study what factors predict short and long term outcomes.

The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of cognitive-behavioral therapy in combination with transcranial direct current stimulation in (1) improving pain and functionality, (2) reducing severity of opioid use disorders, and (3) reducing impairment in associated mental health areas (e.g., depression, anxiety, PTSD, sleep). The investigators will also determine the effects of treatment on neural activity in cognitive and limbic brain regions involved in pain regulation using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), and examine its relationship to opioid use severity.

The needle stimulation pad is a self-care device, which has been promoted for pain control and well-being. The aim of the study was to test the efficacy of the pad for chronic/recurrent low back pain treatment. Patients with non-specific chronic or recurrent low back pain were selected from a large health insurance company database and advised to use the pad daily for two weeks; outcomes were assessed at baseline, weeks 2 and 14. Primary outcome measure was pain intensity at week 2; secondary outcome measures included the Oswestry disability index (ODI), health-related quality of life (SF-36), the fear avoidance beliefs questionnaire (FABQ), analgesic medication consumption and safety.

This study will give a new insight to the physiotherapy fraternity in the effects of spinal manipulation in as clinical practice, as well as the patient's community in quick re-establishment of functional ability, pain decrease, and improvement of quality of life for economic reasons. In this high opinion, application of short-term intensive spinal manipulation for non specific chronic low back pain treatment is desirable.

Low back pain (LBP) is one of most prevalent types of musculoskeletal pain and is strongly related to disability. The McKenzie method is one of most popular treatment options for LBP. The objectives of this study are to determine the effect of the hands-on McKenzie program on pain, disability, spine mobility, and posture deviations in subjects with derangement low back pain.

A phase I, randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, single ascending dose study to investigate the safety, local tolerability and transformation of nucleus pulposus following intradiscal injection of STA363 or placebo in patients with discogenic low back pain. 15 patients will participate in either of 3 dose groups, each comprising 5 patients: Group 1: STA363 dose 1 (3 patients) or placebo (2 patients) Group 2: STA363 dose 2 (3 patients) or placebo (2 patients) Group 3: STA363 dose 3 (3 patients) or placebo (2 patients)

This is a double-blind, randomized study in parallel groups of subjects presenting with low back pain. Randomized subjects will receive treatment for 60 days with either a combination of nucleotides and vitamin B12 or vitamin B1+B6+B12.

The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy of self treatment with the Biomodulator device to decrease chronic low back pain (LBP) in active duty service members. In addition, the study will track the use of pain medication and the impact of pain on symptoms of anxiety, depression and Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD).

This study is a randomized controlled trial designed to compare the effects of 4 weeks of chiropractic care to a waitlist control group on measures of strength, balance, and endurance in military personnel experiencing non-surgical low back pain.

The relevance of this study is to determine the efficacy of two osteopathic techniques - Thrust Technique and Muscle Energy Technique (MET) - in improving of neuromuscular component of the trunk and clinical symptoms in adult workers with Chronic Low Back Pain (CLBP). Few studies have investigated and compared the physiological responses of these techniques quantitatively, and no published study has compared their effects in low back pain subjects in terms of symptoms, postural balance and muscle activation. The main outcomes will be computed by electromyography measurement so that to assess the trunk neuromuscular activation pattern as well as by force platform parameters for determining of postural control. Clinical symptoms such as pain intensity, perception of disability and fear and avoidance will also be computed. This is the first study to compare these two osteopathic techniques using the main biological outcomes related to trunk neuromuscular function.
