Imaging mGluR5 and Synaptic Density in Psychiatric Disorders
Major Depressive DisorderBipolar Disorder1 moreThis research study is designed to look at the involvement of the glutamate system and synaptic density in depression and bipolar disorder. Each participant will undergo a screening appointment to determine study eligibility. Thereafter, the study will take 2 or 3 visits depending on schedule availability and will consist of a combination of one magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scan, one proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and/or one C13 MRS scans, and up to two positron emission tomography (PET) scans. Participants will also participate in cognitive testing. Depending on camera time, staff availability and subject schedule, total study participation may last 1-2 months.
Observatory of Psychiatric Symptoms and Their Somatic Causes in Urgent Medical Care
Neurologic DisorderPsychiatric DisorderUse of emergency department for psychiatric symptoms always addresses the question of a potential somatic cause to the symptoms. Despite the wide-spread use of standard biology test and systematic brain imaging (for a first episode), there are still up to 5% of patients sent in psychiatric wards that actually have a somatic explanation to their symptoms which induces an important delay in the diagnostic assessement We hypothesized that simple neurological clinical examination along with fast psychometric screening tests in the Emergency Room (ER) could help the physicians to better screen the patients and thus prevent inaccurate post-emergency orientation. Every patient visiting the ER for psychiatric symptoms will be included. The usual physical examination by the ER physician will be associated with two psychometric tests (namely the Clock-drawing test and Frontal Assessment Battery test). The follow up will be made after 3 months in order to have the final diagnosis. Neurological data and data from the FAB test and the Clock-drawing test will be compared between patients who were finally given a psychiatric diagnosis versus patients with a somatic diagnosis at the end of the follow up period.
Measuring the Impact of Care in the Cognitive Behavioural Unit
Severe Disruptive Behaviour DisordersThe purpose of this study is to compare the rate of re-hospitalizations in relation to a disruptive behaviour disorder (at 3 and 6 months) between patients who have received care in Cognitive Behavioural Unity (UCC ) and those who have received care in Geriatric Follow-up and Rehabilitation Care Unit (SSR).
Clinical and Social Trajectories of Children and Adolescents With Disruptive Behavior
Disruptive Behavior DisorderConduct disorders are defined as "repetitive and persistent pattern of behavior in which the basic rights of others or major age-appropriate norms are violated". So defined, these disorders are at the crossroads of psychiatry, social field and justice. Conduct disorder management is a public health issue and a societal question. Conduct disorders affect 5 to 9% of 15-year old boys. Care management of children and adolescents admitted for disruptive behaviors in emergency rooms is an issue. No consensus or official recommendation exists. However, use of emergency care in this context is increasing in most western countries and it exposes to several risks (inappropriate use of hospitalizations, social rupture, ignorance of comorbidities and suicide risk). The Trajectories project is designed to describe children and adolescents with disruptive behaviors, their care management and to follow their life trajectory and psychiatric evolution after admission to emergency rooms. Better understanding this population will improve their medical and social care management, thereby giving professionals the right tools. The main objective of this project is to implement a multidisciplinary and integrative research combining clinical considerations and social sciences to determine the "trajectory" of this population.
Pedopsychiatric and Multidisciplinary Research Devoted to Children Exposed to the Attack in Nice...
Psychiatric DisorderTrauma1 moreOn July 14, 2016, in Nice, children and their families were attacked by the organization "EI". In Nice, 86 deaths, including 10 children, the youngest at 4, were recorded. A number of children, still difficult to assess exactly but over 100, was bereaved. After a traumatic event, multiple clinical consequences may appear in children. Among these consequences, the most common is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The aim of the study is to characterize the psycho-social factors of risk and / or protection interfering in the children's future, following the mass trauma of 14 July 2016 in Nice on a sample of pediatric population exposed in comparison of children controls. Ancillary study, entilted "The Physalis Child", prospectively observe the presence or not of non-psychotic acousto-verbal hallucinations (AVH) in the population with PTSD from the "Program 14-7". The main objective of this ancillary study will be to identify factors of social and emotional cognition linked to the presence of non-psychotic HAV within the cohort of children exposed to the mass trauma of July 14, 2016 in Nice but also to any type of individual trauma. Ancillary study, entilted "trail of the 14 July attack", prospectively observe the risk of traumatic reactivation.
In Vivo PET of Synaptic Density in Cognitive Disorders
Alzheimer DiseaseFrontotemporal Degeneration2 moreThis study will compare the discriminative power of [18F]-SynVesT-1 PET and the standard-of-care [18F]-FDG PET in different cognitive disorders (Alzheimer's disease, Frontotemporal degeneration, dementia with Lewy bodies and late-life psychiatric disorders). Moreover, changes in [18F]-SynVesT-1 PET will be evaluated as well as their correlation with specific symptomatology.
Digital Versus Telephone Symptom Assessment and Triage in Primary Care
InfectionsInjuries3 moreA 'digital-first' approach is currently under implementation in several Swedish regions. The principles behind implementing an online service as an access way to primary care are based on an expectation that it can make access easier, direct people to appropriate levels of care, and increase both availability of heath care and cost efficiency. However, a recent Swedish report concluded that digital triage in primary care has not been investigated in a clinical real-world setting, including real patients, meaning that the benefits and risks for patients as well as on a system level remain unclear. The aim of this trial is to study the feasibility of a larger trial that will compare digital triage and traditional telephone triage on adherence to triaged health care level, in a randomized controlled study (feasibility study, RCT). The study will recruit a total of 120 patients, of which half will be randomized to telephone triage and half to digital triage.
Psychoeducation of Parents to Children With FASD
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum DisordersBehavior Problem2 moreBy longitudinal, prospective research in children and adolescents with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) and their parents to explore the beneficial effects of participating in a standardized intervention program in order to treat and reduce the consequences of early brain damage. By using elements from international programs based on psychoeducation and parent training, the investigators aim to help parents to better understand and respond to the neurodevelopmental disabilities of their children, and thereby improving behavioral problems and self-regulation deficits.
HNC: Human Neural Circuits Electrophysiology During Cognition
Psychiatric DisorderThe purpose of this study is to understand how ketamine brings about dissociative symptoms.
The Care for America's Aging Study
Cognitive ImpairmentDementia With Behavioral Disturbance2 moreCare for America's Aging is a randomized pilot study investigating whether a home health aide training intervention consisting of enhanced dementia-specific curriculum content will improve: 1) behavioral symptoms of older adult persons living with dementia or cognitive impairment (PLWD/CI) and 2) global health-related quality of life among PLWD/CI and their care partners.
