Internet-based Parent Training for Parents of Children With Externalising Behavior Problems

Behavior ProblemParenting

The study aims to evaluate the efficacy of a 5-week, therapist-guided, internet-delivered parent management training program (BIP SAMBA) targeting children aged 5 - 11 years with externalising behavior problems. The study is a randomised controlled trial with parents of N=30 children participating. The intervention BIP SAMBA is compared with a waitlist control condition. Participants in the control condition will be crossed over to the active treatment after 5 weeks. The primary outcome measure is the Eyberg Child Behavior Inventory (ECBI) at the post treatment (5 weeks after baseline assessment).

Trans-diagnostic Short-term Psychotherapy for Psychiatric Inpatients

Psychiatric Disorder

The project aims to investigate the effects of a short-term cbt-based psychotherapy intervention for a diagnostically mixed group of psychiatric inpatients. In a multiple baseline single subject design, 5-10 patients with mixed diagnoses that are treated at any of the inpatient units at the Hospital of Västmanland, Västerås, Sweden, will be offered a short psychotherapeutic intervention. The intervention is cbt based, and consists of focused functional analysis with identification of the main problem to be treated; an experiential exercise called the life line, in which obstacles to living a valued life are investigated, and in which alternative steps to be taken in spite of psychiatric symptoms are formulated; a summary excercise called the pause, in which central principles of the treatment are repeated, and in which a relapse prevention plan is formulated. The intervention will consist of approximately 2-5 sessions. The primary research question is whether such an intervention is effective in terms of causal change in problem areas identified as personally meaningful by the individual patient.

Cognitive Behavior Play Therapy and Culturally Adapted Mindfulness-Based Guided Self-Help for Parents...

Emotional ProblemBehavior Problem

Emotional and behavioral problems not only affect the Child's life but also have long-lasting effects on families and society and few studies have been carried out to assess these problems. During the critical phase of childhood, a child may face many emotional and social pressures that can develop physical, behavioral, social, and academic problems, negatively impacting on child's school performance, social involvement, self-esteem along with other serious mental health issues. There is a relationship between traditional parenting practices (such as parental control, love, and rejection) and emotional problems of children including depression and anxiety but very little is known about the role of mindful parenting. Globally, many studies have been done on the prevalence of emotional and behavioral problems in children, whereas relatively little is known about the prevalence of child mental health problems and related risk factors in Pakistan. One of the treatments that they are using these days to provide the developmentally appropriate and therefore effective intervention that meets the mental health needs of children is Cognitive Behavior Play Therapy and mindful parenting.

A FOUR SESSION ONLINE OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY GROUP TRANINIG FOR MOTHERS OF CHILDREN WITH FEEDING PROBLEMS...

Feeding and Eating DisordersChild Behavior Problem3 more

Feeding problems such as selective eating, loss of appetite, and mealtime behavior problems are common in childhood. Parents play a primary role in learning about feeding, and difficulties experienced in this process may cause the parent to experience stress, despair and exhibit incorrect attitudes. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of online occupational therapy group training for mothers on mothers' attitudes and stress levels, and children's eating behaviors. Mothers of children aged 3-6 years with feeding problems (n=29) were randomly divided into groups. Early Childhood Adaptive Eating Behavior Scale, Feeding Process Mother Attitudes Scale and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory scales were used for evaluation. The mothers in the research group participated in the 4-week training. As a result of the research, positive effects were found on mothers' attitudes and children's eating behaviors (p<0.05). There was no change in mothers' state and trait anxiety levels (p>0.05). This study shows that online group training to mothers can support existing therapies and guides clinicians working in the field.

Behavioral Sleep Intervention in Children With Disruptive Behaviors

InsomniaDisruptive Behavior Disorder1 more

Despite the high prevalence of sleep difficulties in children with disruptive behavior disorders, little is known about the role of sleep in treating disruptive behavior. The current study evaluates the addition of a sleep intervention to an existing parent-training program for caregivers of children ages 3-8 with disruptive behaviors. Objectives are to examine the impact of a novel sleep treatment program on sleep, disruptive behavior, and other measures of family functioning, utilizing a variety of self-report and objective measures (e.g. actigraphy, electrodermal activity). The investigators hypothesize that sleep intervention will result in improvements in sleep and disruptive behavior compared to control group receiving a highly plausible addition to the standard parent training intervention, and that sleep outcomes will moderate overall treatment success.

Child and Family Outcomes and Consumer Satisfaction for Online vs Staff-Delivered Parenting Intervention...

Childhood Disruptive Behavior DisordersOppositional Defiant Disorder3 more

This trial addresses a serious and all-too-frequent public health problem, namely early-onset disruptive behavior problems in young children. The focus is on testing an online treatment program which empowers parents to help their children to improve their mental health and behavioral functioning. At the conclusion of the study, the investigators will know whether the online-delivered program works as well as an established staff-delivered program, with respect to child disruptive behavior problems, parenting, parent/family stress, consumer satisfaction, and value analysis.
