Evaluation of a Teaching Curriculum on Disruptive Behaviour Disorders

The investigators have initiated an education program for residents on the diagnosis and management of disruptive behavior disorders in children. These will be presented as two 2-hour modules to be delivered at an academic half-day for pediatric trainees across Canada. We plan to evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum by administering a pre and post test. Pediatric residents in Canada all participate in a practical assessment of their skills (an Observed Structured Clinical Examination or OSCE). The investigators plan to develop on OSCE station which assesses the curriculum and randomize programs to do the curriculum either before or after the OSCE. This will help us determine how effective the curriculum is at teaching about disruptive behaviours.

The aim of this study is to explore the effects of probiotics in individuals with a clinically relevant depression on psychiatric symptoms and cognition, inflammatory parameters, as well as gene-expression. The study is conducted as a placebo-controlled, randomized, double-blind, prospective, monocentric clinical study, with a two-arm parallel group design. Individuals in the intervention group receive the multispecies probiotics "Omnibiotics Stress Repair" in addition to vitamin B7, while individuals in the control group receive "Placebo" in addition to vitamin B7.

Disruption of care during transition from child and adolescent mental health (CAMHS) to adult mental health services (AMHS) may adversely affect the health and well-being of service users. Indeed, transition-related discontinuity of care is a major health and societal challenge today. Current evidences show that this transition is not always properly managed and that improving the transition process can have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of young people. Nevertheless, data available are still inconsistent and only few studies investigated possible models aimed at improving and operationalize the transition. At present, no information concerning the transition in the Geneva Canton is available. According to this lack of evidence, the current study aims at: 1) mapping the CAMHS/AMHS interface; 2) evaluating the longitudinal course and outcomes of adolescents approaching the transition boundary (TB) of their CAMHS; 3) determining the effectiveness of an experimental model of managed transition in improving outcomes, compared with usual care; 4) comparing these results with those of the EU funded MILESTONE study from several other European countries. The investigators will recruit all patients aged ≥ 16 years and 6 months from the Geneva Canton in charge at CAMHS and they will follow them for up to 24 months. CAMHS will be instructed to provide all their service users at the time of transition either usual care or a novel service called "Managed Transition", which will include the use of a new decision support tool, the Transition Readiness and Appropriateness Measure (TRAM). A nested cohort Randomised Controlled Trial (ncRCT) design will be applied to divide patients into the two groups. The health and wellbeing of the young people will be assessed at baseline and then followed-up for 24 months to see whether they transition to AMHS or are discharged or referred to some other service. The investigators will then evaluate what impact the different transition experiences have on young people's health and wellbeing, and whether the process of Managed Transition has any benefits as compared to usual care.

This observational study investigates the associations of nutritional indicators, biomarkers, sociodemographic conditions, and infections with child health, as well as physical, behavioral, and cognitive development. Investigators recruited a random sample of 3202 children from primary public schools in Bogota, Colombia in February 2006 and followed them for a median of 6.5 years. Investigators hypothesized that poor nutritional status at the time of recruitment in middle childhood would be related to adverse health outcomes through adolescence.

A significant group of children with functional constipation (FC) continues to have symptoms despite recommended standard therapy. Underlying psychiatric problems could explain therapy resistance. However, a work-up for psychiatric problems is only recommended after unsuccessful 6 months standard therapy. Earlier detection and check-up could lead to faster start-up of a more adequate therapy. Therefore, we investigate the prevalence of emotional, behavioural and social problems in the FC-population at the first contact with a paediatric gastroenterologist in a tertiary care hospital.

Iterative Redesign of a Behavioral Skills Training Program for Use in Educational Settings

This study proposes to redesign the RUBI Parent Training program, a low-intensity intervention for youth with autism spectrum disorder and disruptive behavior, for use by school personnel in the classroom. Using a mixed-methods approach, 40 school staff members from 20 elementary schools will be recruited to inform current classroom behavior management practices and RUBI redesign needs.

The general purpose of this project; "Physical Activity and Recreation School" for the evaluation of physical activity behaviors of individuals with physical disabilities between the ages of 6-18, to increase the level of knowledge and awareness of these individuals and their parents, and to enable individuals with special needs to experience sports activities in the company of health and sports professionals who are experts in their fields. is to arrange. This project consists of three main topics as evaluation, training and experimentation. During the evaluation phase, interactive roundtable activity, valid and reliable scales and physical assessments, and barriers and motivators for physical activity participation of individuals with special needs will be evaluated. A comprehensive interactive training seminar on physical activity will be held for individuals with special needs and parents during the training phase. In the experimentation phase, children and adolescents with special needs will participate in training programs that include exercise and sportive activities suitable for the determined physical activity barriers and motivators, and will have the opportunity to experience exercises and sportive activities that they have not experienced before. The results of this project will provide gains in the analysis and application of physical inactivity, which is seen as an important public health problem in our country, for individuals with special needs, and will also guide many relevant institutions, health professionals and educators.
