The Relationship Between Serum Levels of Angiogenin, bFGF, VEGF and Ocular Involvement in Patients...

Behçet's Disease

Objectives: Behçet's disease (BD) is a systemic vasculitis. Since vascular endothelial dysfunction plays a prominent role in the pathogenesis of the disease, we considered angiogenic cytokines as an interesting target for investigation in BD. The aim of this study was to investigate the possible role of angiogenin, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) in the pathogenesis of BD. Design and Methods: Sixty five patients with BD and 21 healthy control subjects were included in the study. Serum angiogenin, bFGF and VEGF concentrations were determined by using in vitro enzyme immunoassay (ELISA) kits according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Inactivity Behavior and Exercise Bariers in Patients With Behçet Disease

Behçet Disease

Behçet's Disease (BD) is a chronic, inflammatory, rheumatic disease that is characterized by mucocutaneous lesions. Promoting physical activity level is one of the major goals in the management of patients with rheumatic diseases, it is important to determine the factors affecting physical activity level and exercise barriers. The aim of this study is to investigate physical activity level and exercise barriers in patients with BD. Physical activity level, exercise barriers, disease activity, fatigue, depression, pain, sleep disorders, aerobic capacity and quality of life will be assessed using International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form (IPAQ),Exercise Benefits/Barriers Scale, Behçet Disease Current Activity Form (BDCAF), Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), McGill Pain Questionnaire- Short Form (MPQ-SF), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, 6 minute walk test and Behçet's Disease Quality of Life Questionnaire, respectively.

Calprotectin and Ischemia Modified Albumin Serum to Measure Disease Activity in Behçet's Disease...

Behçet's Diseasecases

Behçet's Disease activity was evaluated using BD Current Activity Form (BDCAF). Serum calprotectin and IMA concentrations were compared among active BD cases, inactive BD cases and control subjects.

Role of Regulatory B Cells in Behçet's Disease

Behcet Disease

There are limited data about the role of regulatory B cells in Behcet Disease. In this study we aimed to identify the proportions of total B lymphocytes and their regulatory subset in different Behcet Disease phenotype and therapies concentrating on the cardiovascular system attempting to unravel their function in Behcet Disease.

Educational Needs of Patients With Systemic Vasculitis

Behcet's DiseaseChurg-Strauss Syndrome8 more

A cross-sectional study design and online questionnaire was used to assess the informational needs of patients with several different types of systemic vasculitis. Patients were recruited from within the Vasculitis Clinical Research Consortium (VCRC) online Patient Contact Registry1. Survey responses from participants in the VCRC Patient Contact Registry were compared to responses from a similar survey recently administered to patients within a United Kingdom (UK) based vasculitis support group (Vasculitis UK).

VCRC Patient Contact Registry Patient-Reported Data Validation Study

Behcet's DiseaseChurg-Strauss Syndrome5 more

The purpose of this study is to provide validation of patient-reported data in the VCRC Patient Contact Registry by comparing patient-reported data with data provided by the physician who is the primary provider caring for the patient's vasculitis. Patients enrolled in the Patient Contact Registry with Behcet's disease, eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (Churg-Strauss) (EGPA), giant cell arteritis (GCA), granulomatosis with polyangiitis (Wegener's) (GPA), microscopic polyangiitis (MPA), polyarteritis nodosa (PAN), and Takayasu's arteritis (TAK) were invited via email to participate in this study.

Assessment of Central Sensitization, Neuropathic Pain, Sleep Quality and Daily Life Activities in...

Behcet's DiseaseCentral Sensitisation

There are few studies in the literature regarding increased frequency of neuropathic pain and sleep disturbance and decreased quality of life in Behçet's disease. Frequency of central sensitization was not investigated in patients with Behçet's disease before. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the frequency of central sensitization, neuropathic pain, sleep disorder and quality of life and their relation to each other in Behcet's disease.

Impact of Vasculitis on Employment and Income

VasculitisSystemic Vasculitis11 more

The purpose of this study is to learn about the impact of vasculitis on employment and income in patients with different systemic vasculitides. All patients enrolled in the Vasculitis Clinical Research Consortium (VCRC) Patient Contact Registry, living in USA or Canada, and followed for more than 1 year since the vasculitis diagnosis will be invited via email to participate in this study, based on an online survey.
