Early Enteral Feeding After Pylorus Preserving Pancreatoduodenectomy
Pancreas CancerBile Duct Cancer1 morePancreaticoduodenectomy is associated with a high incidence of postoperative complications. These postoperative complications could delay postoperative resumption of adequate oral intake. Clinical study on postoperative feeding after pancreaticoduodenectomy is very limited. Method of Nutritional support (Enteral feeding or total parenteral support)after pancreaticoduodenectomy is controversial. To evaluate whether early enteral nutrition may be a suitable alternative to total parenteral nutrition To evaluate whether enteral feeding improve nutritional status after pancreaticoduodenectomy
PTFE Stents for Treatment of Malignant Biliary Strictures
Bile Duct StrictureBile Duct Cancer1 moreIn this randomized trial two two self-expanding metal stents (SEMS) for treatment of malignant biliary strictures are investigated. A newly developed PTFE (Polytetrafluorethylen) (Teflon) stent is tested versus standard covered metal stents. PFTE (Teflon) coating promises improved formability over standard silicone-coated stents, easier removal through the soft surface, and significantly reduced tumor growth through the impermeable surface.
Cyclooxygenase-2 Inhibitor for Adjuvant Anticancer Effect in Patients With Biliary-pancreas Cancer...
Bile Duct CancerPancreatic CancerIn extrahepatic bile duct cancer and pancreatic cancer, we will treat postoperatively with COX2 inhibitor and assess survival rate and recurrent rate.
Development of a New Immunochemistry Method Using Antibodies of Proteins Related Bile Duct Cancer...
Bile Duct ObstructionExtrahepaticThe sensitivity of brushing cytology used to distinguish the cause of biliary strictures is low and clinical usefulness is not secured. The aim of this study was to develop a new differential staining method for cytology which is difficult to differentiate by the conventional staining method using biliary cancer related protein expressed only in bile duct cancer.
Blood Proteins in Finding Pancreatic Cancer and Extrahepatic Biliary Tract Cancer
Extrahepatic Bile Duct CancerPancreatic CancerRATIONALE: Studying samples of blood in the laboratory from patients with cancer and from healthy participants may help doctors identify and learn more about proteins related to cancer. It may also help doctors tell whether a patient has cancer. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is looking at proteins in blood samples to see how well they work in finding pancreatic cancer and extrahepatic biliary tract cancer.
Stenting Malignant Jaundice for Quality of Life
Bile Duct Neoplasms MalignantEndoscopic stent insertion is considered the method of choice for palliation of malignant bile duct obstruction (MBDO). However, it can cause complications and requires periodic stent exchanges. While endoscopic stenting is clearly indicated for relief of cholangitis or refractory pruritus, its role in patients with jaundice alone is less clear. Endoscopic stenting for this relative indication might be justified, if there is a significant improvement in quality of life (QOL) of such patients. The aim of the investigators study was to determine whether endoscopic stenting for MBDO results in improved QOL.
Comparing Covered Self-expandable Metallic Stent (SEMS) Above/Across the Sphincter of Oddi
Cancer of Bile DuctPancreatic CancerThe purpose of this prospective, randomized multicenter study is to determine whether there is any difference in stent patency of covered metallic stents in terms of stent positioning, above and across the sphincter of Oddi, in malignant bile duct obstruction.
A Registry of Patients Undergoing Cellvizio Endomicroscopy and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)...
Pancreatic CancerBile Duct CancerThis registry will collect data from patients routinely undergoing an ERCP and Cellvizio endomicroscopy procedure (and optionally an additional cholangiopancreatoscopy procedure) due to suspected pancreatic or bile duct cancer. The objective is to determine if endomicroscopy images collected using the marketed Cellvizio device may help endoscopists more accurately diagnose, in conjunction with traditional tissue sampling techniques, whether a suspected lesion is malignant or benign.
Pancreaticoduodenectomy With or Without Preoperative Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Periampullary TumorCommon Bile Duct Neoplasms1 moreThe primary objective of this study is to assess the safety, tolerability and toxicity of preoperative HBOT in patients undergoing a pancreaticoduodenal resection for premalignant and malignant tumors of the common bile duct, periampullary and duodenum.
Colonization of Bile Ducts and Postoperative Infectious Complications of Pancreaticoduodenectomies...
Pancreatic CancerSepsis9 moreThe aim of the present prospective study was, first, to verify the correlation between biliary colonization and postoperative infectious complications, and secondarily to asses morbidity and mortality for patients who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy. The hypothesis is that a proportion of post-operative infections after pancreaticoduodenectomy is due to bacteria that colonize the bile ducts during the preoperative period.
