Efficacy and Safety of LBH589B in Adult Patients With Refractory Chronic Myeloid Leukemia in Accelerated...
LeukemiaMyeloid1 moreThis study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of LBH589B in adult patients with chronic myeloid leukemia who are in accelerated phase or blast phase (blast crisis) with resistant disease following treatment with at least two BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase inhibitors
Busulfan, Etoposide, and Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy Followed By Donor Stem Cell Transplant...
Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia in RemissionAdult Acute Myeloid Leukemia With 11q23 (MLL) Abnormalities13 moreRATIONALE: Giving chemotherapy drugs, such as busulfan and etoposide, and intensity-modulated radiation therapy before a donor stem cell transplant helps stop the growth of cancer cells. It also helps stop the patient's immune system from rejecting the donor's stem cells. When the healthy stem cells from a donor are infused into the patient they may help the patient's bone marrow make stem cells, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Sometimes the transplanted cells from a donor can make an immune response against the body's normal cells. Giving intensity-modulated radiation therapy together with busulfan and etoposide before a transplant may stop this from happening. PURPOSE: This phase I/II trial is studying the side effects and best dose of intensity-modulated radiation therapy when given together with busulfan and etoposide followed by a donor stem cell transplant and to see how well it works in treating patients with advanced myeloid cancer.
Obatoclax Mesylate, Vincristine Sulfate, Doxorubicin Hydrochloride, and Dexrazoxane Hydrochloride...
Acute Leukemias of Ambiguous LineageAcute Undifferentiated Leukemia28 moreThis phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of obatoclax mesylate when given together with vincristine sulfate, doxorubicin hydrochloride, and dexrazoxane hydrochloride in treating young patients with relapsed or refractory solid tumors, lymphoma, or leukemia. Obatoclax mesylate may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the proteins needed for cell growth and causing the cells to self-destruct. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as vincristine sulfate, doxorubicin hydrochloride, and dexrazoxane hydrochloride, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving obatoclax mesylate together with combination chemotherapy may kill more cancer cells.
Plerixafor and Filgrastim For Mobilization of Donor Peripheral Blood Stem Cells Before A Donor Peripheral...
Accelerated Phase Chronic Myelogenous LeukemiaAdult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Remission83 moreRATIONALE: Giving chemotherapy and total-body irradiation (TBI) before a donor peripheral blood stem cell transplant helps stop the growth of cancer cells and helps stop the patient's immune system from rejecting the donor's stem cells. When the healthy stem cells from a donor are infused into the patient they will help the patient's bone marrow make stem cells, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Giving colony-stimulating factors, such as filgrastim (G-CSF) and plerixafor, to the donor helps the stem cells move (mobilization) from the bone marrow to the blood so they can be collected and stored. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying giving plerixafor and filgrastim together for mobilization of donor peripheral blood stem cells before a peripheral blood stem cell transplant in treating patients with hematologic malignancies
SJG-136 in Treating Patients With Relapsed or Refractory Acute Leukemia, Myelodysplastic Syndromes,...
Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia With 11q23 (MLL) AbnormalitiesAdult Acute Myeloid Leukemia With Inv(16)(p13;q22)12 moreThis phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of SJG-136 in treating patients with relapsed or refractory acute leukemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, blastic phase chronic myelogenous leukemia, or chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as SJG-136, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing.
Homoharringtonine With Oral Gleevec in Chronic, Accelerated and Blast Phase Chronic Myeloid Leukemia...
Myeloid LeukemiaChronic7 moreThis will be an open label, multi-center study of up to 77 patients with CML in chronic, accelerated or blast phase who have developed resistance to or have failed previous treatment with Gleevec (imatinib mesylate). Because these patients may still be sensitive to Gleevec, adding Homoharringtonine may restore a response to Gleevec or the combined treatment may promote a better response than using Gleevec alone.
Entinostat and Sorafenib Tosylate in Treating Patients With Advanced or Metastatic Solid Tumors...
Adult Acute Basophilic LeukemiaAdult Acute Eosinophilic Leukemia18 moreThis phase I trial is studying the side effects and the best dose of entinostat when given together with sorafenib tosylate in treating patients with advanced or metastatic solid tumors or refractory or relapsed acute myeloid leukemia. Entinostat and sorafenib tosylate may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth.
Rasburicase and Allopurinol in Treating Patients With Hematologic Malignancies
Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia With 11q23 (MLL) AbnormalitiesAdult Acute Myeloid Leukemia With Del(5q)17 moreThis randomized phase II trial studies how well giving rasburicase together with allopurinol works in treating patients with hematologic malignancies. Rasburicase may reduce the level of uric acid in the blood. Allopurinol may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. It is not yet known which dose of rasburicase is more effective in treating hematologic malignancies when given together with or without allopurinol.
Flavopiridol in Treating Patients With Relapsed or Refractory Acute Myeloid Leukemia, Acute Lymphoblastic...
Adult Acute Basophilic LeukemiaAdult Acute Eosinophilic Leukemia17 moreThis phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of flavopiridol in treating patients with relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, or chronic myelogenous leukemia. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as flavopiridol, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing.
Metformin+Cytarabine for the Treatment of Relapsed/Refractory AML
Adult Acute Megakaryoblastic Leukemia (M7)Adult Acute Minimally Differentiated Myeloid Leukemia (M0)15 moreThe purpose of the study is to determine if metformin in combination with cytarabine is safe and effective. Participants in this research study have acute myeloid leukemia (AML) that has come back after initial treatment or has not gone away with initial therapy. There is evidence that metformin directly kills leukemia cells. Laboratory data have also shown that combinations of metformin with cytarabine are more efficient than each agent alone in killing leukemia cells in the laboratory.
