Autonomic Cardiovascular Control in Response to Blood Volume Reduction in Blood Donors

Autonomic DysfunctionAutonomic Imbalance1 more

The function of the autonomic nervous system can be assessed using baroreflex sensitivity (BRS) and heart rate variability (HRV). Decreased HRV has been shown to be predictive of morbidity and mortality in diverse medical conditions such as acute myocardial infarction, aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage, autoimmune diseases, sepsis and surgery. The function of the autonomic nervous system has not yet been investigated in a "pure hypovolemia" model. The aim of the current study is therefore to investigate and describe the function of the autonomic nervous system prior to, during and after reduction of blood volume in healthy blood donors.

Global Impact of the COVID 19 Pandemic on Stroke Care, Cerebral Venous Thrombosis, and Subarachnoid...

Stroke

A 1-year analysis of global selected stroke metric data will be conducted comparing the results during the Covid-19 pandemic to the pre-pandemic period. In most countries, this will correspond to March 1, 2020 to February 28, 2021. In some countries, the pandemic period would be adjusted for onset of case surge (i.e. China pandemic start date would begin earlier, i.e. January 2020). The specific metrics that will be analyzed include: ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attacks (TIA) hospitalizations intracranial hemorrhage hospitalizations cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) hospitalizations (with or without thrombocytopenia) CVT in-hospital mortality 4) aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage hospitalizations 5) mechanical thrombectomy 6) intravenous thrombolysis 7) ruptured aneurysm endovascular coiling 8) ruptured aneurysm clipping. 9) aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage admissions 10) SAH in-hospital mortality 11) SAH presentation by Hunt Hess Grade

Retrospective Study of Intracerebral Hemorrhage Patients in Hospital Parc Taulí

Intracerebral Hemorrhage

This is a retrospective observational study to investigate the clinical, analytical and neuroimaging data generated during routine clinical management of intracerebral hemorrhage. The study will review the data from about 500 patients attended during the last ten years in the Neurology Department of Hospital Parc Taulí de Sabadell. The aim is to measure the size of the lesion in neuroimage (TC and MRI), the edema, the alterations in diffusion weighted images and to correlate this data with clinical parameters and analytical measurements. With this approach investigators plan to investigate the incidence of hematoma growth, the role of perilesional edema and diffusion changes, and the relation between neuroimaging findings and clinical outcome. The study also try to establish significant correlations between clinical and analytical data, the clinical outcome and and the magnitude of changes in neuroimaging.
