Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH)Pulmonary Hypertension (PH)

In view of the manifold options for mono- and combination therapy that have now emerged for patients with pulmonary (arterial) hypertension (PH/PAH), controlled clinical trials can only provide part of the information needed for optimal management. In order to gather adequate data on PAH/PH treatment in routine clinical care, the ongoing COMPERA registry prospectively documents consecutive patients with newly initiated treatment of PAH/PAH since May 2007. The internet-based registry fulfills high quality standards through several measures (planned minimum centre contribution of at least 10 patients per year, automated plausibility checks of data at entry, queries, monitoring with source data verification in >50% of participating centers). It can be applied, among further purposes, for quality assurance: individual centers can confidentially compare their results with the combined outcome of other centers and the recommendations from guidelines. It is expected that the register contributes to optimization of specific drug therapy for PAH and PH. Since July 2013, also children of any age can be documented (COMPERA-KIDS).

Etiological DiagnOsis of caRdiac Diseases Based on echoCardiograpHIc Images and Clinical Data.

Hypertension ArterialHypokinetic2 more

Research hypothesis - Recent studies have shown that high-dimensional descriptors of the cardiac function can be efficiently exploited to characterize targeted pathologies. In this project, the investigators hypothesize that echocardiograms possess a wealth of information that is currently under-exploited and that, combined with relevant patient data, will allow the development of robust and accurate digital tools for etiological diagnosis. Objectives - Based on key advances recently obtained in image analysis, notably by members of the consortium, the objective of this project is to develop rigorous and explainable cardiac disease prediction models from echocardiography based on the transformer paradigm (AI). The strength of this study lies in the development of a strong AI framework to model the complex interactions between high-quality image-based measurements extracted from echocardiograms and relevant patient data to automatically predict etiological diagnosis of cardiac diseases

Pulmonary Hypertension in Left Heart Disease

Pulmonary HypertensionPulmonary Vascular Disease1 more

The goal is to compare patients with and without varying severity of pulmonary vascular disease based upon hemodynamic signatures, echocardiographic measures, and lung ultrasound, in tandem with expired gas metabolic testing and blood sampling.

Activity Monitoring in Pulmonary Hypertension

Pulmonary Hypertension

This is a prospective, longitudinal, observational study of free-living activity trackers and patient reported outcomes to test the hypothesis that daily activity will have stronger prognostic value than 6MWD in patients with pulmonary hypertension after 12 weeks.

A Cohort Study on Biomarkers of Hypertension in Guangdong Province(GDP Study)

HypertensionCardiovascular Diseases

Hypertension is the most common chronic diseases and a most important risk factor for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and also a substantial public health problem. The purpose of the study is to investigate the association between biomarkers and adverse outcomes in patients with hypertension.

Inflammatory Biomarkers of Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension

HypertensionPulmonary

To investigate if the inflammatory protein, high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1), along with other inflammatory mediators, is elevated in pediatric patients with congenital heart disease (CHD) and pulmonary hypertension as compared to those with CHD alone, or with healthy controls.

Identification of Heritable CTEPH

Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension

Some patients who have blood clots come down with a life-threatening condition known as Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH), which is high blood pressure only in the arteries of the lungs. This study seeks to understand more about the genetics causes of CTEPH by obtaining blood samples and examining family histories.

Investigating the Syndrome Differentiation of Diabetic and Pre-diabetic Using Digitalized TCM Diagnostic...

Diabete MellitusPre-diabetes3 more

The investigators aim to objectively identify the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) syndrome differentiation of type II diabetic and prediabetic patients in Singapore through modern technologies thereby potentially increasing the accuracy of identification, diagnosis, and prevention of diabetes and prediabetes through a system of targeted treatment. This observational study integrates the concept of TCM diagnostic methods with modern tools aim to provide an objective view on the syndrome differentiation of diabetic and prediabetic patients in Singapore and hence provide a guideline in the treatment options targeted specifically at Singaporeans demographic. A total of 250 subjects with 50 allocated in each group will be recruited to ensure a sufficient sample size for statistical analysis of the diabetic and prediabetic syndrome differentiation. Subjects aged 21-65 years old, of either gender, with no limitations on race, and is diagnosed with either diabetes (FPG ≥ 7.0 mmol/L, or 2hPG ≥ 11.1mmol) or prediabetes (IFG of FPG 6.1-6.9 mmol/L, and/or IGT with 2hPG of 7.8-11.0 mmol/L) will be included. Subjective and objective assessments through health evaluation, Physical Activity Questionnaire and Sugar Intake, Constitution in Chinese Medicine Questionnaire, radial pulse diagnosis and tongue diagnosis will be performed for each subject in a single visit. Statistical analysis of assessments will be conducted using unpaired t-test with significance level of p<0.05. Statistical software SPSS 15.0 (SPSS Inc.) will be used for the analysis.

Epidural Spinal Cord Stimulation for Hypertension in Patients With Neuropathic Pain

Chronic PainHypertension1 more

The purpose of the ESCAPE Study is to determine the extent to which epidural spinal cord stimulation (SCS) reduces arterial blood pressure (BP) in patients which chronic low back pain and hypertension. We also aim to determine the extent to which higher baseline BP (i.e., hypertension) predicts reductions in pain following SCS implant. This is an observational study of patients undergoing an implantation of a SCS device.
