Utilizing Protein During Weight Loss to Impact Physical Function and Bone

ObesityWeight Loss10 more

This study is an ancillary study to the Utilizing Protein During Weight Loss to Impact Physical Function (UPLIFT) trial (NCT03074643) to evaluate the effects of diet composition (i.e., amount of protein and carbohydrate) during a 6-month weight loss intervention and 12-months of follow-up on bone phenotypes in obese older adults. Participants will receive either a protein or carbohydrate supplement along with a behavioral weight loss intervention.

A Specialized Amino Acid Mixture on Body Composition and Skin State in Overweight and Obese Class...

Amino AcidBody Weight Changes3 more

The use of dietary amino acids has been explored for therapeutic and safety intervention of obesity and obesity-induced dysfunction. In particular, 3 molecules have been shown to be effective both in the animal model and in humans, in promoting the loss of fat mass, specifically visceral adipose tissue, and in maintaining free fat mass: arginine, glutamine and leucine (and its metabolite beta hydroxy methyl butyrate, HMB). The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy in terms of fat mass, in particular Visceral Adipose Tissue reduction, as primary end point, in obese patients following the administration of specific food for special medical purposes (FSMP) for muscle recovery, consisting of arginine, glutamine and HMB. The secondary end point is the evaluation of skin state, by a validate self-reported questionnaire survey to assess skin, after 4- weeks intake of this FSMP.

The Effects of Formula Diet on Body Weight, Body Composition, and Biomarkers for Disease Compared...

Body Weight Changes

It is hypothesized that the use of a partial supplement diet, which includes the use of meal replacements, will result in significantly greater weight loss after three and six months compared to an isocaloric diet that does not include supplements. It is also hypothesized that the partial supplement diet will result in larger improvements in body composition, disease biomarkers, and health parameters (blood pressure, lipids) compared to the non-supplement diet. Finally, it is hypothesized that subjective ratings of satiety will be significantly higher, and ratings of hunger lower, in the group consuming a partial supplement diet.

Cryolipolysis Induced Gluteal Fat Change

Body Weight Changes

There was no difference in efficacy in removal of local fat on thigh by cryolipolysis through Zeltiq machine. Cryolipolysis was found to be safe for 12 week clinical trial.

Effect of 8-week Intake of 2S-hesperidin on Performance, Body Composition and Biochemicals Markers...

PowerMetabolic Disturbance9 more

This clinical study evaluates the effect of 500 mg of 2S-hesperidin for 8 weeks on performance (power generated in different metabolic zones), body composition (fat and muscle mass) and biochemical (antioxidant, inflammatory status) and metabolic (capillary blood in finger) markers in amateur cyclists. Our hypothesis is that chronic intake of 2S-hesperidin can improve performance (maximum power generated). To justify this hypothesis, we measured the parameters mentioned above, which could establish a cause-effect relationship between 2S-hesperidin intake and possible yield improvement.

Comparison of the Effects of Weight Changes on Serum Adipokines in Patients Diagnosed With Anorexia...

Anorexia NervosaBariatric Surgery2 more

In this study, when patients diagnosed with AN started treatment and their weight increased by 10%; On the other hand, it was aimed to compare the changes in serum adipokine levels observed in morbidly obese patients before bariatric surgery and when they lost 10% of their post-op weight with both anthropometric measurements, biochemical parameters, and values of healthy volunteers.

Study of an International Commercial Program on Weight Loss and Health Outcomes

Weight LossWeight Change3 more

This study is a randomized controlled trial (RCT) of the Weight Watchers (WW) Freestyle ® (Flex® in UK) weight loss program compared to a control group following a do-it-yourself (DIY) approach for 12 months. Participants in the United States, Canada and the UK (n=360 total) will be randomly assigned to either participate in the commercially available WW program in their local community or to follow their own approach for weight loss. This study will examine the impact of the WW program on weight, fitness levels, quality of life, health behaviors and other health outcomes in overweight and obese adults after 3 and 12 months.

Integration of Yoga for the Treatment of Obesity in Adults

ObesityPhysical Activity3 more

The focus of this study is to examine the feasibility of integrating Vinyasa yoga into a Standard Behavioral Weight Loss Intervention, to examine whether engagement differs between Vinyasa yoga and a restorative form of Hatha yoga within a Standard Behavioral Weight Loss Intervention, and to use this information to inform an expanded study to directly test the effectiveness of these interventions on weight loss in adults.

Efficacy of Two Novel Behavioral Post-cessation Weight Gain Interventions

Weight ChangeBody1 more

The study aims to randomize 400 participants to 1 of 3 arms: a) a weight stability intervention prior to smoking cessation (Group 1); b) a weight loss intervention prior to smoking cessation (Group 2); or c) a self-guided weight management prior to cessation (Group 3) and to determine the efficacy of the interventions on preventing weight gain at 12 month follow-up. All 3 conditions receive a highly efficacious behavioral smoking cessation program and 6 months of varenicline pharmacotherapy (ChantixTM), the most efficacious medication for smoking cessation.
