A randomized acute controlled trial of twenty-eight healthy overweight or obese women in Saudi Arabia, aged between 18 and 40 with a body mass index between 25 and 34.5 kg m2 and fat parentage above 30% . The participants have followed ether HFKD or LFD for 12 weeks.

This project will establish the efficacy of Goals for Reaching Optimal Wellness (GROWell), an mHealth tool for achieving appropriate pregnancy weight gain and promoting postpartum weight loss among women who enter pregnancy overweight or obese. GROWell will fill a gap in research and clinical care by providing a validated, standalone mHealth tool for weight control during pregnancy and postpartum, which is a currently lacking resource.

It is an extract of the microalgae Phaeodactylum tricornutum standardized to 2.0% Fucoxanthin (FX) content by adding a food grade medium-chain triglyceride (MCT)-oil and a tocopherol-rich (Vitamin E) extract (0.5 % w:w). PhaeoSOL is intended for use as a source of the naturally occurring carotenoid, fucoxanthin, in food supplement products for the general population at levels not to exceed 437 mg/person/day for a maximal duration of 30 days of PhaeoSOL (equivalent to 10 mg fucoxanthin/person/day). Prior studies suggest that marine algae and Fucoxanthinol may have anti-obesity, lipid lowering, and glucose management enhancing properties. The purpose of this proof of concept pilot study is to examine whether dietary supplementation of PhaoeSOL enhances the benefits of women participating in an exercise and weight management program.

Impact Of Post-Bariatric Body Contouring Procedures on Patient Body Weight and Metabolism
Bariatric Surgery CandidateIs post-bariatric body contouring surgery prevent weight regain or no, and what is the effect on the patient's Metabolism? Few literature studies report body contouring surgery to be positively associated with maintained weight loss after obesity surgery but the measures of outcomes are diverse, and the collective magnitude of such an association is unknown. The changes in gastrointestinal hormones, adipokines, and cytokines as well as in hypothalamic neuropeptides and neurotransmitters resemble the changes observed in the anorexia/cachexia, suggesting that bariatric surgery triggers a catabolic state responsible for loss of appetite and prolonged body weight reduction. Weight regain after gastric bypass surgery occurs in about half of all patients within 2 years. About 50% of patients eventually gain a little weight back after hitting their low point. We need a more thorough evaluation to determine what factors - medical, psychological, lifestyle - are involved in the weight gain. One of the factors that seem to be responsible for the degree and durability of weight loss is post-bariatric body contouring procedures. Duodenal Feeds in Very Low Birth Weight Infants
BPD - Bronchopulmonary DysplasiaVLBW - Very Low Birth Weight Infant5 morePremature infants have high rates of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) due to prematurity of the participants' lungs and the need for prolonged respiratory support. These infants are at increased risk for gastroesophageal reflux and aspiration which may exacerbate lung injury. Transpyloric feeds, specifically duodenal feeds, may be used to bypass the stomach and directly feed the duodenum decreasing the amount of gastric reflux contributing to aspiration. Duodenal feeds are equivalent to gastric feeds with regards to nutritional outcomes, and have been shown to decrease events of apnea and bradycardia in premature infants. This study will evaluate the feasibility and safety of duodenal feeds in premature infants. The hypothesis is that duodenal feeds may be safely and successfully performed in premature very low birth weight infants.
