Feasibility and Preliminary Efficacy of a Reverse Diet as a Novel Weight Loss Maintenance Strategy...
Overweight and ObesityWeight Loss Maintenance1 moreThe purpose of this project is to test, for the first time, a reverse diet in adults with current or prior overweight/obesity (Ow/Ob). Weight-reduced adults with current or prior Ow/Ob will be randomized to a reverse diet or "standard care" control (CON) intervention for 12 weeks. Eligible participants will have lost >10% body mass. The reverse diet group will receive personalized caloric intake goals, increasing 2-3%/week. The CON group will receive standard weight maintenance recommendations with matched contact. At baseline and week 12, resting energy expenditure (REE), body mass and composition, subjective appetite, and food intake behaviors will be evaluated. In addition to the pre- and post-intervention measures, body mass and adherence to reverse diet will be monitored weekly.

Does Dapagliflozin Provide Additional Health Benefits To Dietary Counseling For Weight Loss?
Weight LossDapagliflozin is a medicine to treat diabetes. Its mechanism of action is via sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibition. In adults with diabetes, use of sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors is associated with moderate weight (fat) loss, in addition to other health benefits, including decreased blood pressure, decreased inflammation, and decreased oxidative stress. It is unclear as to whether these health benefits are due to SGLT2 inhibition per se, or as a secondary effect of weight loss. We wish to compare the health benefits of dietary counseling for weight loss with and without concomitant use of an SGLT2 inhibitor.
Video Conferencing and In-person Health Coaching on Weight Loss, Physical Activity, and Metabolic...
ObesityWeight Loss1 moreThe purpose of this study was to determine how 12 weeks of health coaching with individualized feedback and education in combination with mobile health devices (a digital wireless body weight scale and wireless activity tracker) influences body weight, waist circumference, physical activity levels, and select blood-borne markers of health (fasting blood glucose, hemoglobin A1c, and insulin). The individualized health coaching, education, and feedback was delivered by either video conferencing or direct, in-person consultation. All education materials including (i.e. video modules, exercise manuals, nutrition manuals) were designed and compiled by a team of health professionals from (inHealth Medical Services, Inc.). These materials focused on incorporating behavioral principles of self-monitoring, exercise, nutrition, goal setting, and behavior modification. Each participant was randomly assigned into one of two intervention groups (a video conferencing or in-person group) or a control group.

The Effects of Weighted Waist-Hooping
HealthyPurposes: 1) To determine the effects of weighted waist-hooping on balance in healthy individuals and 2) to observe whether these effects are attributed to neuromuscular conditioning or core strength gains. Methods: 27 females (ages 20-45) were included, 15 in the intervention group, and 12 in the control. The intervention consisted of six weeks of weighted waist-hooping four times a week for 10 minutes each session. Balance was assessed pre and post intervention using the BESS, SEBT, and Neurocom SOT. Core strength was assessed using hold duration of a bilateral and unilateral plank.
Weighted Rope Training in Taekwando Athletes
Physical PerformanceThe aim of this study was to determine the effects of weighted rope jump training on physical fitness in taekwondo athletes. Randomized controlled trail was done on Total 52 male taekwondo players, aged between 13 to 19 years. Players were randomly divided into 2 groups at Khubaib Taekwondo Academy. Experimental group ( n=26) had weighted rope training for 8 weeks, 3 days in a week along with routine taekwondo training and control group (n=26) had to follow only routine training for 8 weeks. Agility t- test, 50 meter run test, sargent jump test, sit and reach test and yo-yo endurance test were performed at baseline, 4th and 8th week to assess the physical fitness in participants. Hand grip dynamometer was used to assess the upper limb strength.
