Evaluation of Vertical Height in Anterior Maxillary Sandwich Osteotomy: Simultaneous Versus Delayed...
Alveolar Bone ResorptionVertical bone height has always presented challenge for the clinicians especially in the anterior aesthetic zone. Therefore, this trial will attempt to compare whether better vertical bone height and implant placement technique can be achieved using simultaneous implant placement with the sandwich osteotomy, which is a time saving procedure performed in a single stage surgery; when compared to using fixation plates to support the segment followed by delayed implant placement.

Low Speed Drilling Versus Conventional Drilling Technique on Crestal Bone Level in Maxilla.(Group...
Bone Resorption20 patients were selected requiring implant placement and divided randomly into two groups (10 in each group) for the study group, starter drill is used to locate the point of insertion as planned then pilot drill is also used to the full desired working length after that all other sequential drills are used at a low speed (50-70 rpm) without irrigation . In the study group: implant will be inserted in the low speed osteotomy site. In the control group: implants will be inserted in the conventional prepared osteotomy site. For both groups there is no surgical guide used. The flap will then be copiously irrigated with saline in preparation for closure. The flap will then be closed using interrupted 4/0 resorbable sutures.

Impact of Periodontal Treatment on the RANKL/OPG Ratio in Crevicular Fluid
Periodontal DiseasesBiomarkers1 moreObjectives: Alveolar resorption is one of the most important events in periodontitis. Osteoclast activity is regulated by the ratio between receptor activator of NF-κB ligand (RANKL) and osteoprotegerin (OPG). The aim of this study was to evaluate changes in the RANKL/OPG ratio in crevicular fluid after periodontal treatment. Material and methods: A total of 15 patients with periodontitis were included in the study group. Samples were collected from an area with active periodontitis and a healthy area. The RANKL and OPG levels were measured before and after periodontal scaling and root planing (SRP) treatment. The study group was compared to the control group, which included 10 patients without periodontitis.
Bone-biomarkers of Spinal Cord Injury Patients
Spinal Cord InjuriesBone Resorption1 morePatients with spinal cord injury have a high prevalence of osteoporosis due to chronic skeletal unloading. Recently, various treatment drugs for osteoporosis have been developed. In particular, romosozumab, a sclerostin inhibitor, has been reported to have a high therapeutic effect as an inhibitor of bone resorption while promoting bone formation. However, there are a few research concerning sclerostin of spinal cord injuries patients. Therefore we want to analyze the change of sclerostin as well as factors indicating bone formation and absorption marker in spinal cord injury patient.
Differences in Bone Cell Activity Between Rheumatoid Arthritis and Ankylosing Spondylitis
Rheumatoid ArthritisBone Resorption1 moreRheumatoid arthritis (RA) and ankylosing spondylitis (AS) are characterized by chronic systemic inflammation and share common pathogenic pathways. In both diseases, cytokines like TNF (tumor necrosis factor) and interleukin (IL)-17, known for their pro-inflammatory and osteoclastogenic effects, are relevant players, however, while RA is characterized by bone erosions, AS favors bone overgrowth. Understanding this paradox may hold the key for a better management of both diseases. Our hypothesis is that there are differences in the cellular environment and intracellular signaling between AS and RA. To test this hypothesis we will evaluate the cytokine milieu, the kinetics of bone cells differentiation and their activity in untreated and immunosuppressed RA and AS patients. We will also perform the same observations in patients exposed to targeted treatments.
Effect of Fasting Versus Feeding on the Bone Metabolic Response to Running
Feeding PatternsBone ResorptionThis study examined changes in bone metabolism (markers of bone turnover, calcium metabolism) with a bout of acute treadmill running preceded by either a single, mixed meal or an overnight fast.
