Interplay Between Oxytocin and Cortisol During Stress in Borderline Personality Disorder
Borderline Personality DisorderOxytocinThis study aims to determine the feasibility and preliminary data on the interaction between oxytocin and cortisol during stress in borderline personnality disorder.
Use of Care Services by Patients With Borderline Personality Disorder
Borderline Personality DisorderBorderline personality disorder (BPD) is characterized by a pervasive pattern of instability and impulsivity. Several North American prospective studies support the high level of mental health care utilization in this population. There is little data in other systems of health organization, such as France. Furthermore, little is known on the variables associated with the mental health service utilization among BPD patients. The main objective was to compare the utilization of mental health care among BPD patients, to the general population and patients with another personality disorder (PD) and to describe the demographic and clinical factors associated with the group of patients who use the most health care.
MRI Imaging in Borderline Personality Disorder
Borderline Personality DisorderMRI Study for females ages 18-45 with Borderline Personality Disorder(BPD): This study is a non-treatment study that involves 2 visits. Study Hypothesis: To refine and pilot test functional neuroimaging paradigms to assess the amygdala response to neutral facial expressions across positive and negative emotional contexts. To assess whether patients with borderline personality disorder show a heightened amygdala response to neutral facial expressions relative to healthy controls (20 female healthy controls, 20 females with borderline personality disorder). To assess the relationship between individual differences in clinical ratings of personality and affective regulation, and the amygdala response to facial expressions.
Assessment of Sense of Identity in Patients Diagnosed With Borderline Personality Disorder. A Pilot...
Borderline Personality DisorderOne of the key features and long considered a fundamental element of Borderline Personality Disorder is the disruption of identity. Autobiographical memory is closely linked to the development and maintenance of a coherent, stable sense of self. It enables the individual to understand who he or she is. The investigators hypothesize that individuals diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder have a less coherent, stable sense of the self than healthy controls. The aim of the study is therefore to compare the sense of identity between a group of patients diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and a group of healthy individuals (without Borderline Personality Disorder ). This can be measured by evaluating the content of the self-defining memory using the Self-Defining Memory scale.
fMRI in Impulsivity
Impulse Control DisordersBorderline Personality DisorderThis study aims to use resting-state and task based functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) as a tool to evaluate trait characteristics of impulsivity in subjects with borderline personality disorder.
Exploring a New Measure of Emotion Regulation
Emotional InstabilityBorderline PersonalityBackground: Emotion regulation has been established as an important concept in mental health research across a range of different diagnoses. There are numerous questionnaires used to measure emotion regulation but only one (the Perth Emotion Regulation Competency Inventory - PERCI) is based on the most recent and widely accepted model of emotion regulation (Gross' extended process model of emotion regulation). This recently developed measure has not yet been extensively used or psychometrically tested in clinical populations. However, it may be more theoretically and psychometrically sound than other measures widely used in the research literature to date. Methods/Design: An online survey including this new measure with other relevant questionnaires will sample non-clinical and two specific clinical populations in order to explore the reliability, validity and utility of this measure. Discussion: This will inform the ways in which emotion regulation competency is measured in future research and clinical practice.
Emotional Regulation and Impulsivity Among Adolescents With Borderline Personality Disorder
Borderline Personality DisorderAdolescent DevelopmentThis study aims to better understand the behavioral, neurobiological and hormonal underpinnings of stress and reward reactivity of adolescents suffering from borderline personality disorder compared to healthy adolescents by a multimodal approach based on clinical assessments, structural and functional mri and experimental acute stress exposure.
Cognitive Therapy Versus Supportive Therapy in Borderline Personality Disorder
Borderline Personality DisorderThis is a randomised trial comparing cognitive therapy and supportive therapy administered along one year in borderline personality disorder. The follow-up is one year after treatments end. The therapists were the same in the two groups. Patients received one session a week during six months and one session every two weeks during the next six months
Mentalization Based Treatment - Introductory (MBT-I) Group for Male Prisoners With Borderline and/or...
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD)Established evidence base with MBT for treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and/or Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD). Demographic information of United Kingdom prison population highlights large proportion of offenders with PD. There is no agreed universal approach to treatment of PD within Scottish prisons with large variance across the prison estate. MBT pilots in HMP Edinburgh and HMP Cornton Vale have demonstrated positive findings in female offenders which could be replicated in male populations.
Change in Mindfulness in Borderline Personality Disorder
MindfulnessBorderline Personality DisorderThe current study aims to investigate the effect of dialectical behavioral therapy on mindfulness in patients with Borderline Personality Disorder. A treatment group will be compared to a waitlist control group.
