Phase 1 Trial for Tumor Treating Field for Drug/Radiation Resistant Brain Metastases
Brain MetastasesBrain metastasis is a very common disease with poor prognosis, 20% cancer will develop brain metastases(BM), up to 40% by autopsy. Great advances have made with the application of targeting therapy, immunotherapy, chemotherapy, whole brain radiation and radiosurgery, however, treated patients were finally suffered from drug/radiation resistance and rapid recurrence. Tumor treating fields (TTFields) is one of the standard combination treatment for GBM, and some researchers believe that TTFields can effectively inhibit patient-derived lung adenocarcinoma brain metastasis cells progression in vitro. In this study, the investigator attempts to evaluate the safety, and tolerability of TTFields in adult participants diagnosed with Drug/Radiation resistant BM.
Multimodal Connectome Study of Brain Tumor-operated Patients
TumorBrainIn this pilot study, the investigators propose a multimodal evaluation of the brain connectivity of brain tumor patients, in order to better understand the effects induced by focal lesions on brain structure and function, as well as brain plasticity mechanisms that may occur in such condition. The investigators aim at drawing a multimodal brain connectivity map of focally brain-damaged patients, with a view to improve onco-functional neurosurgical practices.
Cerebral Oxygenation and Metabolism After Reversal Of Rocuronium: Comparison Between Sugammadex...
Supratentorial Brain Tumor SurgeryCholinesterase inhibitors such as Neostigmine and Edrophonium have been used to reverse neuromuscular blockade after surgery. However, these drugs have a relatively slow onset and have adverse effects associated with stimulation of muscarinic receptors. In addition, neostigmine cannot be used to reverse profound blockade. Anesthetics may exert their effects on various facets of cerebral function such as cerebral metabolic rate (CMRO2), cerebral blood flow (CBF), cerebral blood flow-metabolism coupling, intra cranial pressure (ICP), autoregulation, vascular response to CO2 and brain electrical activity. The net result of all these effects of the anaesthetic agents combined with their systemic effects may prove beneficial or detrimental to an already diseased brain. In neurosurgical patients, clear and rapid recovery is required to early assess the neurological status and to maintain the cerebral oxygenation and metabolism within the normal physiological values which may be saved by sugammadex.
Memory Preservation of Hippocampal Avoidance Whole Brain Radiotherapy
Brain MetastasesNeurocognitive FunctionThe study aimed to investigate the memory preservation and neurocognitive function protection of hippocampal avoidance whole brain radiotherapy (HA-WBRT) among people who speak Mandarin Chinese or Taiwanese.
Cambridge Brain Mets Trial 1

The Effects of Spiritual Needs on Spiritual Well-Being in Patients With Brain Tumors: A Structural...
Brain TumorThe aim of this study is to describe a patient's Spiritual Needs and related factors that contribute to a patient's Spiritual Well-Being in the context of perioperative care. The primary objective of this study is to examine the fit of the Structural Equation Model (SEM) of the theory on Spiritual Well-Being (SWB) and explain how SWB is affected by Symptom Burden (SB), Psychological Distress (PsD), and Spiritual Needs (SN) reported by the patients with brain tumors before having surgery.
Feasibility of Identifying a Chinese Study Population and Eligible Pediatric Cancer Cases, and Linking...
Pediatric LeukemiaPediatric Brain Neoplasms1 moreBackground: - Pregnant women are encouraged to take the vitamin folate. It helps prevent some birth defects. Children of mothers who take it also have less risk of some cancers. Between 1993 and 1995, some women in China took the vitamin daily before and during early pregnancy. Another group did not. This study will follow up on children born to both sets of women. (The children were born between 1994 and 1996.) Researchers will use these data to study the link between folate and cancer in infants and children. Objective: - To see if folate may reduce childhood cancer if women take it every day before and during early pregnancy. Eligibility: - Mothers who took part in a Chinese folic acid study between 1993 and 1995 and their offspring. Design: Mothers of children in the study will sign a consent form. The form lets the researchers review the child s medical history. They may also review data about their cancer diagnosis. The children will also sign a form.
[F-18]Fluoro-DOPA PET Imaging of Brain Tumors in Children
Brain TumorsThe first phase of the study will investigate if there is increased uptake of [F-18]FDOPA in pediatric brain tumors when compared to normal brain tissue.
Phase I Compare OS in Post-CyberKnife Radiosurgery Tx in 1-3 VS 4 or More Brain Metastases
Brain and Nervous SystemThe investigators will learn from this study if the CyberKnife radiosurgery (CK RS) treatment of patients with 1-3 versus 4 or more brain metastases results in the same overall survivals. The importance of this new knowledge will be to determine the treatment efficacy of CK RS with 1-3 versus 4 or more brain metastases. The outcome of this trial would give data to support either the continuation or modification of the CK RS treatment of patients with brain metastases.
Dietary and Exercise Interventions in Preventing Cardiovascular Disease in Younger Survivors of...
Childhood Brain TumorChildhood Hodgkin Lymphoma2 moreThis clinical trial studies dietary and exercise interventions in preventing cardiovascular disease in younger survivors of childhood cancer. Eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease in younger survivors of childhood cancer.
