Dyslipidemia Management in Chinese Post Stroke Patients
Brain Ischemia,StokeThe purpose of this study is to provide current and reliable data of dyslipidimia management together with control situation of blood pressure and glucose for post-stroke patients within 6-12 months from attack, and also the association between patient characteristics and control rate of lipids in this population. It is an non-interventional study, no study specified treatment is required.Approximately 5000 post ischemic stroke patients within 6-12 months from attack will enter into the study. Fifty centres from different regions of China will participate in this study.
Correlation of Risk Factors and Severity of Hypoxic-ischaemic Encephalopathy
Hypoxic Ischaemic EncephalopathyThe first aim of this study is to analyse perinatal risk factors leading to hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy in term and near term neonates born in Switzerland who were admitted to the neonatal and intensive care units offering hypothermia therapy. Further, investigators would like to analyse the influence of these perinatal risk factors on the severity of encephalopathy during and after hypothermia therapy.
Molecular Mechanisms of microRNA-494 Involving in Cerebral Ischemia
Ischemic StrokeWe and other investigations suggested that the activation of nerve cell cycle following cerebral ischemia led to neuronal apoptosis, glial cell proliferation and the formation of glial scar. The cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) and cyclins jointly promoted the cell cycle progression. Our preliminary clinical trial found a new microRNA-miR-494, which involved in the occurrence of acute ischemic stroke. In our animal experiment, miR-494 could relieve cerebral ischemia injury through inhibiting cyclin-dependent kinase 6(CDK6), ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2L6 (UBE2L6) and histone deacetylase 3 (HDAC3), which suggested that miR-494 might play an important role in the regulation of cell cycle following cerebral ischemia. This project intends to verify the following hypothesis:①miR-494 suppresses CDK6, and/or fibroblast growth factor16(FGF16)-Ras-extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK)--v-myc avian myelocytomatosis viral oncogene homolog(MYC) pathway, and/or phosphatase and tensin homolog(PTEN)-/protein kinase B(AKT)-mechanistic target of rapamycin(mTOR)-S6k pathway;②miR-494 inhibits UBE2L6, upregulates the hypoxia-inducible factor 1 α(HIF-1α) expression in nerve cells, thereby increases the p21 and p27 protein levels and inhibits cyclin-dependent kinase2(CDK2)activity;③miR-494 represses HDAC3 and downregulates the cyclin-dependent kinase1(CDK1)protein level. These all mediate the cell cycle arrest of neurons and astrocytes, reduce the neuronal apoptosis and glial scar formation, promote the recovery of neurological function and provide new targets for the treatment of ischemic stroke.
Cytokines Associated With Cord Blood Cell Therapy for Neonatal Encephalopathy
Neonatal Encephalopathy (Neonatal Hypoxic-ischemic Encephalopathy)This is a observational study to assess the effects of and to explore the mechanisms of autologous umbilical cord blood cell therapy for neonatal encephalopathy by way of measuring serum cytokines.
General Anesthesia for Endovascular Thrombectomy; A Pilot Study.
StrokeCerebrovascular Stroke7 moreThis study evaluates the outcomes of stroke patients treated for intravascular thrombectomy, using either a local anesthetic with sedation, or a general anesthetic. Historical data will be used for those treated with the local anesthetic, and prospective data will be used for those treated with the general anesthetic.
Degradation of the Glycocalyx in Delayed Cerebral Ischemia After Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage...
Aneurysmal Subarachnoid HemorrhageThis study will provide novel information to the literature base for the pathophysiology of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. The association of breakdown products in the serum of aSAH patients were reported in a very small case series of 3 patients, as mentioned above. However, while their results are intriguing and encouraging, our study will provide more definitive information about the GC in aSAH. If there is a positive correlation, the results of this study will guide future investigations into new therapies for this devastating disease such as MMP inhibition with doxycycline.
MRI of Neonate With HIE Before and During the Moderate Hypothermia
Hypoxic-Ischemic EncephalopathyModerate hypothermia has been demonstrated to be the effective treatment for neonates with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). However, few studies reveal the actual alterations in physiological parameters (i.e. brain temperature and cerebral blood flow) of neonates undergoing cooling, especially for HIE lesions. Therefore, this project aims to utilize the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), i.e. MR thermal imaging and phase contrast MRI to measure the changes of these parameters before and during hypothermia; and then make comparisons with the routine nasopharyngeal and rectal temperature. All these would provide in vivo quantitative data for therapeutic evaluation and promote the optimization.
THE ROLE OF CARDIAC MARKERS IN HYPOXIC ISCHEMIC ENCEPHALOPATHY IN LONG-TERM NEURODEVELOPMENTAL FOLLOW...
Hypoxic-Ischemic EncephalopathyNewborn MorbidityIn this study, the correlation of cardiac marker values (Troponin I, CK, CK-MB) measured before treatment with the long-term neurodevelopmental score of newborns diagnosed with perinatal asphyxia and treated with therapeutic hypothermia with a diagnosis of hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) will be evaluated. Physical examination, laboratory (especially cardiac markers), aEEG findings and diffusion MRI findings of babies who have been hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit between 2015-2020 due to respiratory distress and who have undergone perinatal asphyxia but have undergone therapeutic hypothermia treatment will be recorded from their files in the hospital system. The neurological evaluations and neurodevelopmental scores of the babies in the follow-up in the neonatal high risk follow-up clinic after discharge will be recorded from their files.
EEG Based BCI for Upper Limb Rehabilitation in Stroke
Stroke SequelaeBrain IschemiaBiomedical and Engineering approaches form a key element to neurological rehabilitation of upper limbs. Brain Computer Interface (BCI) using Motor execution and Motor Imagery are known to aid motor recovery in stroke. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that Noninvasive Sensorimotor Rhythm (SMR) based EEG based BCI using motor execution and Motor Imagery tasks can aid in rehabilitation of upper limb movements in chronic stroke. The project aims to explore an SMR-based BCI system that can exploit the sensorimotor rhythm voluntary modulation to play a virtual game as neurofeedback using motor executory tasks and imagined hand movements by stroke patients, who suffer from upper limb disability.
