Imaging Study of XERECEPT® Treatment for Peritumoral Brain Edema (PBE)

Peritumoral Brain EdemaPRIMARY MALIGNANT and METASTATIC BRAIN TUMORS

This is a phase II, multicenter, open-label, imaging study of hCRF in the reduction of PBE in patients with primary malignant or metastatic brain tumors. Approximately 30 to 60 patients will be assigned to 1 of 3 treatment groups and receive study drug for up to 28 days

RTA 744 Injection in Patients With Leptomeningeal Disease

Neoplastic MeningitisSolid Tumor3 more

The primary objectives of this study are: To determine the tolerability of RTA 744 Injection in patients with leptomeningeal disease (LMD) secondary to any type of primary tumor. In a selected group of 6-10 patients who will receive RTA 744 at or near the maximum tolerated dose (MTD), to characterize the multiple-dose pharmacokinetics of RTA 744 in plasma and CSF. The secondary objectives of this study are: To document any potential antitumor activity of RTA 744 in this patient population. To correlate pharmacokinetic information with clinical (efficacy and safety) responses, as a possible help in selecting appropriate doses for later studies.

Aminolevulinic Acid During Surgery in Treating Patients With Malignant Brain Tumors

Adult Anaplastic AstrocytomaAdult Anaplastic Oligodendroglioma5 more

This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of aminolevulinic acid during surgery in treating patients with malignant brain tumors. Aminolevulinic acid becomes active when it is exposed to a certain kind of light and may help doctors find and remove tumor cells during surgery

Brain Metastases In ErbB2-Positive Breast Cancer

NeoplasmsBreast

This study is for patients with ErbB2 overexpressing breast cancer that has spread to the brain and is still progressing there even after radiation treatment using WBRT (whole brain radiotherapy) or SRS (stereotactic radiosurgery) to the brain. The study will determine how safe and effective lapatinib is when given in combination with capecitabine to treat patients with ErbB2 overexpressing breast cancer that has spread to the brain. Lapatinib is an oral drug that will be taken every day. Tests for safety and efficacy will be performed regularly during the course of the study.

Sunitinib Malate After Stereotactic Radiosurgery in Treating Patients With Newly Diagnosed Brain...

Cognitive/Functional EffectsMetastatic Cancer2 more

RATIONALE: Sunitinib malate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well sunitinib malate works after stereotactic radiosurgery in treating patients with newly diagnosed brain metastases.

Study of Temozolomide in the Treatment of Brain Metastasis From Non-small-cell Lung Cancer (Study...

MetastasesNeoplasm3 more

Brain metastases from solid tumors are diagnosed in more than 300,000 patients annually. Nonsmall cell lung cancer accounts for the majority of CNS mets. Treatment with whole brain radiation and steroids will improve neurologic symptoms in about 50% of patients although survival is short. This study will test the safety and efficacy of temozolomide in combination with radiation therapy in the treatment of patients with brain mets form nonsmall cell lung cancer.

Fractionated Stereotactic Radiotherapy (FSRT) in Treatment of Brain Metastases

Brain MetastasesGeneralized Malignancy2 more

The main purpose of this study is to see whether addition of TPI 287 to FSRT is safe and tolerable. Researchers also want to find out if adding TPI 287 to FSRT can help with better controlling the growth of brain lesions in people with brain metastases from their cancer.

Ipilimumab Induction in Patients With Melanoma Brain Metastases Receiving Stereotactic Radiosurgery...

Metastatic MelanomaBrain Metastases

This is a study to test the efficacy of using standard immune therapy for melanoma prior to stereotactic radiosurgery (ipilimumab induction), as compared to stereotactic radiosurgery followed by immune therapy. The study's hypothesis is that ipilimumab induction is as good as or better than controlling brain metastases as compared to stereotactic radiosurgery followed by immune therapy.
