A Study of Whole Brain Radiation Therapy and Capecitabine in Breast Cancer Participants With Newly...
Breast CancerThis open-label, randomized, parallel arm study will evaluate the effect of capecitabine administered concurrently with WBRT and as maintenance therapy in participants with breast cancer and newly diagnosed brain metastases. Participants will be randomized to receive either capecitabine with 10 days standard WBRT, or WBRT alone. Maintenance therapy will follow with capecitabine or another systemic therapy in the WBRT only group.
Effects of Methylphenidate Versus Sustained Release Methylphenidate on Cognitive Functioning
Brain TumorPrimary Objective: To assess the efficacy of immediate release methylphenidate, sustained release methylphenidate, and the novel vigilance enhancing drug modafinil for the improvement of cognitive functioning in patients with brain tumors.
Brain Metastases In ErbB2-Positive Breast Cancer
NeoplasmsBreastThis study is for patients with ErbB2 overexpressing breast cancer that has spread to the brain and is still progressing there even after radiation treatment using WBRT (whole brain radiotherapy) or SRS (stereotactic radiosurgery) to the brain. The study will determine how safe and effective lapatinib is when given in combination with capecitabine to treat patients with ErbB2 overexpressing breast cancer that has spread to the brain. Lapatinib is an oral drug that will be taken every day. Tests for safety and efficacy will be performed regularly during the course of the study.
RTA 744 Injection in Patients With Leptomeningeal Disease
Neoplastic MeningitisSolid Tumor3 moreThe primary objectives of this study are: To determine the tolerability of RTA 744 Injection in patients with leptomeningeal disease (LMD) secondary to any type of primary tumor. In a selected group of 6-10 patients who will receive RTA 744 at or near the maximum tolerated dose (MTD), to characterize the multiple-dose pharmacokinetics of RTA 744 in plasma and CSF. The secondary objectives of this study are: To document any potential antitumor activity of RTA 744 in this patient population. To correlate pharmacokinetic information with clinical (efficacy and safety) responses, as a possible help in selecting appropriate doses for later studies.
Imaging Study of XERECEPT® Treatment for Peritumoral Brain Edema (PBE)
Peritumoral Brain EdemaPRIMARY MALIGNANT and METASTATIC BRAIN TUMORSThis is a phase II, multicenter, open-label, imaging study of hCRF in the reduction of PBE in patients with primary malignant or metastatic brain tumors. Approximately 30 to 60 patients will be assigned to 1 of 3 treatment groups and receive study drug for up to 28 days
Sunitinib Malate After Stereotactic Radiosurgery in Treating Patients With Newly Diagnosed Brain...
Cognitive/Functional EffectsMetastatic Cancer2 moreRATIONALE: Sunitinib malate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well sunitinib malate works after stereotactic radiosurgery in treating patients with newly diagnosed brain metastases.
Iressa in the Treatment of Brain Metastases From Non Small Cell Lung Cancer
Brain NeoplasmsNon Small Cell Lung CancerThe aim of the study is to determine if Iressa is effective in the treatment of Brain metastases from NCSLC
Study of Temozolomide in the Treatment of Brain Metastasis From Non-small-cell Lung Cancer (Study...
MetastasesNeoplasm3 moreBrain metastases from solid tumors are diagnosed in more than 300,000 patients annually. Nonsmall cell lung cancer accounts for the majority of CNS mets. Treatment with whole brain radiation and steroids will improve neurologic symptoms in about 50% of patients although survival is short. This study will test the safety and efficacy of temozolomide in combination with radiation therapy in the treatment of patients with brain mets form nonsmall cell lung cancer.
A Study of Cabazitaxel for Patients With Breast or Lung Cancer and Recurrent or Progressive Brain...
Breast CancerLung Cancer2 morePatients suffering from histologically or cytologically confirmed stage IV lung or breast cancer with progressive or recurrent brain metastases after prior external beam radiotherapy will receive treatment with cabazitaxel until progression of brain metastases (BM) or unacceptable toxicity.
Fractionated Stereotactic Radiotherapy (FSRT) in Treatment of Brain Metastases
Brain MetastasesGeneralized Malignancy2 moreThe main purpose of this study is to see whether addition of TPI 287 to FSRT is safe and tolerable. Researchers also want to find out if adding TPI 287 to FSRT can help with better controlling the growth of brain lesions in people with brain metastases from their cancer.
