Extensive Stage Small Cell Lung CancerHereditary Paraganglioma46 moreRATIONALE: Temsirolimus may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as vinorelbine ditartrate, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving temsirolimus together with vinorelbine ditartrate may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of giving temsirolimus and vinorelbine ditartrate together in treating patients with unresectable or metastatic solid tumors.

Lapatinib ditosylate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Estrogen can cause the growth of breast cancer cells. Hormone therapy using tamoxifen citrate may fight breast cancer by blocking the use of estrogen by the tumor cells. Sometimes when tamoxifen citrate is given, it does not stop the growth of tumor cells. The tumor is said to be resistant to tamoxifen citrate. Giving lapatinib ditosylate together with tamoxifen citrate may reduce drug resistance and allow the tumor cells to be killed.

Drugs used in chemotherapy work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving bevacizumab together with more than one chemotherapy drug (combination chemotherapy), may be a better way to block tumor growth.
